Beartown by Fredrick Backman Genre: Fiction Published: 2016 Page Count: 432 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beartown is a small hockey town in the far north where if you don’t play hockey, you watch it, so its modest population is obsessed with their junior boys' hockey teams and their local standings. The teams haven’t been doing well lately, and the town itself is slowly shrinking. But there are a few promising young men whose talents seem to be a lifeline for Beartown, and if they can reach the finals, there’s a chance a hockey academy will be built there, which will then bring back industry and retail, etc. We meet and follow the town’s hockey star, his best friend who has a deep secret, the boy from the wrong side of the town but incredibly fast on skates, the enigmatic daughter of the hockey club’s general manager, and various other characters who all contribute to the main conflict that drives the plot. Things progress in a fairly positive way at the beginning of the book (that is, if you can ignore the fact that all the adults are putting far too much pressure on these young hockey players), but things take a dark and unexpected turn when a young woman accuses the hockey team’s star of raping her at a party. People take this news much as you would expect in a town like this; they become divided and blame the victim more often than not. Although this is a dark book, I do recommend it, especially for those who have read other Backman books and enjoyed them. #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #kitabloversnepal #bookclub #readingisfun #fiction #booknerd #readingwomen #bookworm #asbookclub #bookforlife #nerdgirl #lovereading #fredrickbackman #beartown #2024review #readingnook #readersgonnaread #readmorebooks #reading #nepalibookstagram #nepalreads #nepalireaders

The Drowning Woman by Robyn Harding ⭐️⭐️⭐️ "There is more than one way to play the game. And there is more than one way to win it." I was eager to get my hand on The Drowning Woman since I have been hearing lots of positive reviews on this book. I finally got to it yesterday and finished it late into the night. This novel starts out promising, even if it reminded me of The Housemaid by Freida McFadden initially. Lee is an interesting character, and the way she's written makes you feel for her. Her friendship with Hazel is what gives velocity to the major portion of the story and keeps you hooked and guessing. The whole novel is divided into 4 parts with alternate POVs from Lee and Hazel. While the first two parts were well paced and gripping, I found myself losing interest since the third part, even though it was action-packed with events and revelations. Our main characters are described as smart and strong, but they keep on making stupid conclusions and decisions for some reason. The surprise reveals lacked the oomph factor and there were too many plot holes and loose endings. I was left wondering what happened with Hazel's husband at the end. There were plenty characters that were introduced but left unexplained (Lee's investor, Jesse's brother, Lee's sister and her husband). This book doesn't give you the satisfaction of a story well wrapped up. Rather than the 'revelations', I enjoyed the epilogue much more as it felt satisfying and appropriate for the kind of relationship Lee and Hazel had throughout the story. This book is a simple, fast, and somewhat entertaining read but may leave you without much of a closure. Anxious People by Fredrick Backman Genre: Fiction Published: 2019 Page Count: 390 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a book about a crime that never took place, a would-be bank robber who disappears into thin air, and eight extremely anxious strangers who find they have more in common than they ever imagined. Viewing an apartment normally doesn’t turn into a life-or-death situation, but this particular open house becomes just that when a failed bank robber bursts in and takes everyone in the apartment hostage. As the pressure mounts, the eight strangers slowly begin opening up to one another and reveal long-hidden truths. "Anxious People" is a thought-provoking book, with overall an uplifting and feel-good vibe. The story was very clever and written perfectly. It is heartfelt but also funny at times. It encourages us to be kind and reflect on what really matters in life. The plot is clearly thought out and effectively executed. The way all the loose ends are tied up at the end is incredibly well done. #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #kitabloversnepal #bookclub #readingisfun #fiction #booknerd #readingwomen #bookworm #asbookclub #bookforlife #nerdgirl #lovereading #fredrickbackman #anxiouspeople #2024review #readingnook #readersgonnaread #readmorebooks #reading #nepalibookstagram #nepalreads #nepalireaders

Bookish and The Beast by Ashley Poston @heyashposton (Once Upon A Con - Book 3) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "But there is so much more in those words than just loving books. I love the smell of them. I love the way their bindings look pressed together on a shelf. I love the feel of pages buzzing through my fingers. I love big books and small books. I love words and how they're strung together, and most of all, I love the stories. I love how books are not really just books at all, but doorways." Bookish and The Beast made my little introverted, nerdy bookworm soul so happy. As you can guess from its title, it is a contemporary retelling of Beauty and The Beast. It's a slowburn enemies to lovers romance with so many books that you will get the urge to go wander in the library. It's the third installment in the Once Upon a Con series (which I had no idea of when I read it) but can be read as a standalone without much spoilers from other books. It's simple, sweet, and a cozy read that feels like a love letter to books. Highly recommended if you're looking for a lighthearted small-town romance featuring a home library of dreams. #bookstagram #readersofinstagram #bookstagrammer #nepalibookstagrammer #bookstagramnepal #books #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookworm #reader #nepalireader #nepalreads #romancebooks #bookish #ebook #beautyandthebeast #ashleyposton #bookishandthebeast

Insomnia by Sarah Pinborough 3.5/5⭐️ "Everything feels wrong at night. Pieces out of place in my head. No straight edges in the jigsaw to anchor me." Okay. Are you ready? I was not ready for this book, I picked it up because I couldn't sleep last night. This is not the kind of book that lets you pause (in my case, sleep) after a while. If you've read Behind Her Eyes already, you know what I mean. Like BHE, Insomnia is best enjoyed without any kind of spoilers. Insomnia starts out a little slow, but a few chapters in, and there's no way you don't get consumed with the need to figure out what's going on. The characters are definitely intriguing, and Emma, as a modern woman trying her best to keep the balance between her career and family, is relatable if not likable. Emma's oscillation between trying to keep her family safe and suspecting she herself is the actual danger to them, and her dynamics with people around her is a perfect treat for a suspense-thriller lover. Tense, compelling, and creepy, Insomnia gives us a spectacular story-building with an unreliable narrator and plentiful sketchy characters. In contrast to the feast of a story, the ending was rushed and much underwhelming. It is not who dunnit but the past-present parallel, the why, and for what that steals the show (or attempts to anyway). I rated it 3.5 solely for how tense and intrigued I felt even when I figured out many of the surprise reveals. I wish the ending was a little less rushed and more logically linked up to the events for a better wrap-up to otherwise a great reading experience. How To Make Friends With The Dark by Kathleen Glasgow Genre: Young Adult Published: 2019 Page Count: 421 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tiger and her mother are a unit – it’s them against the world. Things might be tight, and Tiger might chafe against the close rein her mother keeps her on, but everything is okay, or at least sort of, when they are together. But when her mother suddenly dies, Tiger is thrown into a whirlpool of foster homes, halfway houses, and uncertainty. She battles unrelenting grief and can only liken it to standing on the edge of a black hole ready to swallow her up. As family secrets are revealed, she questions if she ever really knew her mother or what she can expect from life now that everything that she knows has been stolen from her. 'How To Make Friends With The Dark' is an honest look at the journey of grief, complicated and messy, as well as the variety of conditions and struggle for normalcy faced by children who lose a parent or are removed from unsafe living conditions. It is a delicately crafted novel, unflinching and considered. Glasgow does a good job of highlighting the bad and the good, those burned out by the work, those who shouldn’t be part of the system, who give it a bad name, and those who give so much, who care and do what they can in a broken world. #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #kitabloversnepal #bookclub #readingisfun #youngadult #booknerd #readingwomen #bookworm #asbookclub #bookforlife #nerdgirl #lovereading #kathleenglasgow #howtomakefriendswiththedark #2024review #readingnook #readersgonnaread #readmorebooks #reading #nepalibookstagram #nepalreads #nepalireaders

You'd Be Home Now by Kathleen Glasgow Genre: Young Adult Published: 2021 Page Count: 387 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For all of Emory’s life she’s been told who she is. In town she’s the rich one–the great-great-granddaughter of the mill’s founder. At school she’s hot Maddie Ward’s younger sister. And at home, she’s the good one, her stoner older brother Joey’s babysitter. Everything was turned on its head, though, when she and Joey were in the car accident that killed Candy MontClaire. Four months later, Emmy’s junior year is starting, Joey is home from rehab, and the entire town of Mill Haven is still reeling from the accident. Everyone’s telling Emmy who she is, but so much has changed. How can she be the same person? Or was she ever that person at all? This book broke my heart. It’s so raw and so full of emotion. It’s desperate and tender. I love the relationship between Emory and her brother - Joey. Watching her family navigate this incredibly difficult moment made me feel like I couldn’t look away. I needed to know what would happen all the way until the last page. And, oh my gosh - Emory’s mother. I had to pause my reading a couple of times because her control issues were so off the chart. I felt like I could feel Emory’s anxiety and Joey’s frustration and apathy myself when their mother was in the room sometimes. Yikes. There are definitely some triggers because of drug addiction, but I would definitely recommend it. #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #kitabloversnepal #bookclub #readingisfun #youngadult #booknerd #readingwomen #bookworm #asbookclub #bookforlife #nerdgirl #lovereading #kathleenglasgow #youdbehomenow #2024review #readingnook #readersgonnaread #readmorebooks #reading #nepalibookstagram #nepalreads #nepalireaders

📚 Book Review 📚 . . . . The tipping point: how little things can make a difference is the first book of Malcolm Gladwell published in Great Britain in 2000 by Little brown. The tipping point is a non-fiction book. It explains how one dramatic moment can change all at once in the tipping point and also explain why some ideas work and others do not with the support of various stories from real life. He explains the tipping point arises because of three distinct sets of individuals: mavens, connectors and salespeople. He also examines the well-known S-curve which begins with innovators, then early adopters, followed by the early majority and finally, the late majority. He is overwhelmingly redundant in expressing his ideas, providing examples of epidemics throughout the text while comparing them to one another (children's television, Hushpuppy shoes, Paul Revere's ride, nicotine, and the list goes on and on...).  It is a well written first person narrative and the lessons of the emergence of epidemics are applicable to almost any career or lifestyle, as Gladwell demonstrated with his countless examples. I think I would recommend it to anyone interested in some pop sociology.! . . . . #malcolmgladwell #malcolmgladwellbooks #thetippingpoint #bookrecommendations #bookreview #reviewwriting #reader #readerscommunity #readersofinstagram #nepalreads #readersofnepal #book #booklover

Girl In Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow Genre: Young Adult Published: 2016 Page Count: 416 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Girl in Pieces" by Kathleen Glasgow is a poignant and powerful exploration of the harrowing journey of Charlie Davis, a young girl struggling with self-harm and a tumultuous past. The novel traces Charlie's life as she battles her inner demons, moving from a psychiatric hospital to the streets of Tucson. As she grapples with addiction, loss, and the complexities of love and friendship, Charlie embarks on a painful yet ultimately redemptive journey toward self-discovery. It is an emotionally charged and beautifully written novel that delves into the raw, intricate layers of human resilience. Kathleen Glasgow's storytelling is both heartbreaking and uplifting as she navigates the complexities of Charlie's struggles with self-harm and the quest for self-identity. The author's prose is poignant, creating a narrative that is as haunting as it is hopeful. Charlie's character is portrayed with such authenticity that it is impossible not to empathize with her journey. This book is a testament to the power of healing, self-love, and the importance of finding one's voice in the face of adversity. The Teacher by Freida McFadden ⭐️⭐️ Freida McFadden is someone whose books are my go-to when trying to get out of a reading slump. They might not be my absolute favorite books, but I tend to finish them in one sitting because the storyline just grabs you even if it is quite predictable. The Teacher was none of that. The story itself is quite thrilling and hooks you in, but I did not find it up to the standard set by other books of the author. Don't get me wrong, I didn't see the twist at the end coming. However, there's only so much a surprise reveal can do for the subpar story building and character growth. The ending was not satisfactory at all, especially the epilogue. It left me with more questions than answers, and I wonder if this book will have a sequel. Note: You might want to check the trigger warnings for this book. Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid Genre: Fiction Published: 2019 Page Count: 401 Rating: ⭐️⭐️ "Daisy Jones & The Six" by Taylor Jenkins Reid is a novel presented in an interview format, chronicling the rise and fall of a fictional rock band in the 1970s. The story unfolds through the perspectives of band members, managers, and associates, providing a multi-layered narrative that explores the dynamics of creativity, love, and the tumultuous world of the music industry. Reid masterfully captures the essence of the era, creating a tale of passion, ambition, and the cost of fame. While the book boasts a unique narrative format and a vivid portrayal of the 1970s music scene, I found the interview-style storytelling distancing and preventing a deeper connection with the characters. The fragmented nature of the narrative, while fitting for the documentary-style approach, hinders emotional engagement, leaving certain aspects of the characters' lives feeling underdeveloped. Additionally, the story's resolution leaves a craving of a more definitive or satisfying conclusion to the intricate relationships and conflicts introduced throughout the novel. #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #kitabloversnepal #bookclub #readingisfun #fiction #booknerd #readingwomen #bookworm #asbookclub #bookforlife #nerdgirl #lovereading #taylorjenkinsreid #daisyjonesandthesix #2024review #readingnook #readersgonnaread #readmorebooks #reading #nepalibookstagram #nepalreads #nepalireaders

THE GOOD PART by Sophie Cousens (4 ⭐) 🌘🌘🌘 “Can we skip to the good part.” 🍂That's exactly what happened when our heroine, twenty-six year old, Lucy Young, wished on a random machine to skip her life to the part when it becomes good. Although, she had not really expected to be married to a stunning man, mom to two small kids and the CEO of a massive TV company, also definitely hadn't thought about an aged body. Seems to be a fairytale come to life but it was a nightmare to cope with her new roles. 🍂How many times have we joined both our hands and prayed to the higher being up in heaven to kindly give us a better and settled life and fast. I know I have. But we never think about missing on the parts that shapes us, the journey. 🍂For me this book was heartbreaking, just like the movie, The Vow, staring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. I just can't cope when a madly in love couple disintegrates. When One of them can't understand the deep feeling from the other. How Sam was so patient and caring towards his erratic wife. Also can we please appreciate the female friendships. It was so sweet. And How can I not talk about Felix. That kid has my heart. 🍂The author herself speaks about taking inspiration from movies like 13 going on 30 and Freaky Friday. Which is a very apt comparison. 🍂My only complaint is that it dragged for me in the middle. I felt myself losing interest. But then it picked right up at the very end. I recommend it to people who want to read well a written women's fiction with that hint of fantasy. •••••••••••••••√••√••√••√••••••••••••••••• Genre: Romance Published: 2023 Page Count: 368 pages 🌒🌒🌒 Tags🌒🌒🌒 #thegoodpart #sophiecousens #thegoodpartsophiecousens #timetravel #timetravelromance #timetraveller #romance #emotionalromancebooks #ayureads #kitabloversnepal #booklover #booksforlife #bookaesthetic #aestheticbooks #aesthetic #aesthetic #nepalibookstagram #nepalreads

“Sometimes I Lie” follows the story of Amber, who wakes up in a hospital unable to move, speak, or open her eyes. The narrative unfolds through three timelines: the present, when Amber is in a coma; the week before her accident; and her childhood diaries from twenty years ago. It delves into Amber’s suspicions about her husband, her troubled past relationships, and the mysterious circumstances leading to her coma. History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera Genre: Young Adult Fiction Published: 2017 Page Count: 320 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ OCD-afflicted seventeen-year-old, Griffin, has just lost his first love – his best friend, ex-boyfriend, and the boy he believed to be his ultimate life partner – in a drowning accident. In a desperate attempt to hold onto every last piece of the past, a broken Griffin forges a friendship with Theo’s new college boyfriend, Jackson. Griffin will stop at nothing to learn every detail of Theo’s new college life and ultimate death. But as the grieving pair grows closer, readers will question Griffin’s own version of the truth – both in terms of what he’s willing to hide and what true love ultimately means… What I love about this book is that almost every character is messy and does things that are kind of awful, but it’s realistic. I think the way that trauma and grief were explored was incredible. This book is totally gut-wrenching, and that is what is so good about it. It does dive into these issues, but it does it full on and honestly, and I really loved that about it. This book is achingly sad at times, but I also found it really happy and beautiful. There are moments where you laugh and smile, and even though that made it harder, it also made it better. #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #kitabloversnepal #bookclub #readingisfun #yafiction #booknerd #readingwomen #bookworm #asbookclub #bookforlife #nerdgirl #lovereading #adamsilvera #historyisallyouleftme #2024review #readingnook #readersgonnaread #readmorebooks #reading #nepalibookstagram #nepalreads #nepalireaders

Around the World 4 books from 4 different authors from 4 different countries! It is true that creative people have no barriers. Ultimately, it's connecting with human beings. There's just one planet! 📚Looking for Alaska The synopsis of this book is already available on this page. 📚Outliers Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell is a study of the cause and effect of greatness. The book documents many unique cases of mastery. It hypothesizes that in order to truly be a master in any field, one must have devoted around 10 years and at least 10,000 hours to that field. Subjects in this book include my favorite band, The Beatles; Microsoft founder Bill Gates; the “smartest man in the world” Chris Langan; physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer; and countless others. I found each story in the book to be totally fascinating, compelling, and inspiring. And of course, the stories are all true. Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell comprise of 9 chapters and an epilogue. This load of chapters is lowered into two sections. The principal half of the book intently takes a gander at how opportunities matter more in the existences of fruitful individuals than difficult work or crude ability. The second half of the book centers around social heritages: conduct inclinations established in their genealogical past. . . . . .............................................................................................. From the international bestselling author of Physics of the Impossible and Physics of the Future This is the story of a quest: to find a Theory of Everything. Einstein dedicated his life to seeking this elusive Holy Grail, a single, revolutionary 'god equation' which would tie all the forces in the universe together, yet never found it. Some of the greatest minds in physics took up the search, from Stephen Hawking to Brian Greene. None have yet succeeded. In The God Equation, renowned theoretical physicist Michio Kaku takes the reader on a mind-bending ride through the twists and turns of this epic journey: a mystery that has fascinated him for most of his life. He guides us through the key debates in modern physics, from Newton's law of gravity via relativity and quantum mechanics to the latest developments in string theory. It is a tale of dazzling breakthroughs and crushing dead ends, illuminated by Kaku's clarity, storytelling flair and infectious enthusiasm. The object of the quest is now within sight: we are closer than ever to achieving the most ambitious undertaking in the history of science. If successful, the Theory of Everything could simultaneously unlock the deepest mysteries of space and time, and fulfil that most ancient and basic of human desires - to understand the meaning of our lives. . . . #thegodequation #michiokaku #nonfictionbook #sciencelover #physicslife #philosophical #popularscience #reference #astronomyfacts #historical #spacefacts #booklove #bookblog #booksbooksbooks #bookgeek #igbooks #booksofig #readit #bookfeature #bookhoarder #greatbooks #abookaday #newreads #bookishallure #readthisbook #newreads #bookfeatured #booksmandala #nepalreads #nepalibookstore

Last read for 2023. Before reading After You, you simply must read Me Before You by the same author. These two novels address a very controversial subject (assisted suicide) and the effects on those close to the person who is contemplating suicide. I believe the author handled it fairly accurately and compassionately. Understanding what the main character in both novels (Lou) went through is explained somewhat in After You, but you really need the first book to understand the depth of feelings she experienced, and the stages of grief she went through before arriving at the beginning of After You. The story was to me completely compelling. Coping after losing a loved one to suicide is a long, torturous process, and I was curious as to the emotions experienced by loved ones when the deliberate, well-thought-out decision to end a life is due to incurable illness. I finished both of these novels before I was ready to let the story go. They leave you wanting more - not because the story isn't resolved, but because you want to see further into the characters' futures. I highly recommend both novels for those people with an open mind, and people who are as yet undecided about the Death with Dignity issues. If you are adamantly and irrevocably committed to the thought that suicide is an unforgivable sin, you should probably skip them both.! Cross Her Heart by Sarah Pinborough ⭐️⭐️⭐️ "I smile, and I feel an awful ache I don’t fully understand. A kind of empathy for someone’s fragility. For everything people hold inside." I had high expectations from this book because I'd read Behind Her Eyes earlier. I got disappointed, not that this book wasn't exciting, but it lacked cohesiveness in the plot. There's too much happening with too many people. Midway through the book, things get all topsy-turvy, but thankfully, fast-paced. I really liked some of the supporting characters (Hello Marylin and Simon!), while some of them felt just kind of forced into the plot to give that twist factor without much thought spared for sense and logic. The relationship dynamics between some of the characters (Lisa's family in the past, Lisa and her daughter, Marilyn's friendship with Lisa) are very well depicted and succesfully give depth to the otherwise superficial story. *Please make sure to check the trigger warnings beforehand. This book gets quite dark as the story progresses.* Have you read any books by Sarah Pinborough? #bookstagram #readersofinstagram #bookworm #booklover #nepalireaders #nepalreads #bookstagramnepal #reader #mystery #thriller #mysterythriller #sarahpinborough #crossherheart #potterhead #transfigurationtoday #fantasticbeasts #behindhereyes #triggerwarning #books #readwithme #ebooks #bookish #bookreview #bookrecommendations #readsbyevening

Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (No spoilers) "Pinch myself and say I AM AWAKE once an hour. Look at my hands. Count my fingers. Look at clock (or watch), look away, look back. Stay calm and focused. Think of a door." If you have not read Behind Her Eyes yet, you have a real treat ahead of you. Prepare to be mindblown. By the perfectly paced writing, by the masterful plot development, by the characters that only grow more insane by the chapter and by how everything comes together to form this spellbinding saga of love, betrayal, and obsession. Above all, prepare to be absolutely floored by the ending. I loved how Pinborough took the story from seemingly a regular domestic thriller with a love triangle to a cunningly brilliant game of manipulation. Do yourself a favor and go into this book totally blind. AVOID SPOILERS. It will be more than worth it. If you have read it, how did you recover? The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Sometimes I want to say I love you all," said the mole, "but I find it difficult." "Do you?" said the boy. "Yes, so I say something like I'm glad we are all here." "Ok," said the boy. "I'm glad we are all here." "We are so glad you are here, too." This book is a beautiful combination of charming artworks, unexpected but adorable friendships, and powerful life lessons. It is very simple, sweet, a little funny, and a quick read. However, the font can be a little challenging to read at times. This book feels like a gentle hug and is perfect for when you need a little pick me up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ घन्यवाद 🤎 #book #books #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #bookreview #read #reading #nepalreads #photography #readersofinstagram

The Only One Left by Riley Sager 2.5/5⭐️ "At seventeen, Lenora Hope Hung her sister with a rope Stab*ed her father with a kn*fe Took her mother's happy life" Hope's end, a spooky rotting mansion that does justice to it's name, is where Lenora Hope lives completely detached from the outside world. The only surviving member of her family, she was suspected of murd*ring her parents and sister on one September night of 1929, but her denial and lack of evidence made the suspicion difficult to prove. In 1983, Kit McDeere is sent to Hope's End to care for the now 71 years old Lenora, who is unable to speak or move but is finally willing to tell her story. Suspected of having a hand in her own mother's death, Kit is wary of, yet strangely drawn towards Lenora. As she helps Lenora tap out her story on an old typewriter, her suspicion sorrounding the abrupt disapperance of the previous caregiver and the fact that Lenora might not be as harmless as she looks grows. Will Kit be able to figure out the truth buried deep within all the lies and deception? What of her own truth? Honestly speaking, this book was difficult to get into. I found the initial chapters too slow and repetitive for my liking. The story picked the pace up since about the middle part. This book is littered with surprise reveals, some of which felt too forced yet not so surprising after all and some felt genuinely well planned. It gave off creepy, gothic mystery vibes but was average read for me. Have you read this one yet? 🧛 𝔻 ℝ 𝔸 ℂ 𝕌 𝕃 𝔸 🧛 by Bram Stoker Dear Readers, 📖 I have finally (never thought this day would come 😂) completed Dracula. If I had to describe this book in one word, it would be 'long'. Long because it felt dragging and overly detailed than necessary. I have read longer classics and I am aware that classic authors love their scene building and flowery sentences but to what extent. However, I never regret my classic reads. 🍂 Dracula is an 1897 Gothic horror novel by Irish author Bram Stoker. It introduced one of the greatest villains in English literature, Count Dracula. It established the culture of vampire fantasy sprouting a completely new sub-genre in the Horror category. The story is told in epistolary format, in a series of letters, diary entries, newspaper articles, and ships' log entries, which are narrated by the novel's different protagonists. 🖤 In the beginning of the story, Jonathan Harker, a solicitor's assistant, travels to a small town called Transylvania to meet one of his potential clients. This man though is elusive and mysterious, he is Count Dracula. Then the Count's presence bleeds into his personal life, destroying everything Jonathan holds dear. 🤍 The whole book is atmospheric and eerie. It is a perfect fall book. As the story itself takes place in the month of September-October. My issue was the lack of Dracula's presence. The plot was more about his terror than his action. Whenever he appeared, the scene came alive with action but just like that it got over. There was this group of men including Van Helsing himself (I liked him in the beginning) who were only preaching and moving about without much result. Even Mina Harker's character became repetitive towards the end. 🌕 A book where the movie's plotline was better. 🧡 I always wanted to read this book and I have read it and that is all that matters for me. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ 🧛 Happy Reading 🧛

⭐⭐ Book Review ⭐⭐ "Firfirey" is Buddhi Sagar's second novel. It has been nominated for the Madan Puraskar, Nepal's highest literary award. "Karnali Blues," his first fiction novel, was a huge success, and it's also my favorite. “Firfirey” starts with the ending i.e., it tells the story in a flash back memory of the writer. Basanta learns one day that his home in the village is going to be demolished. He returns to his village, overcome with nostalgia, to see the house for the last time after 16 years. After that, he sets out on a journey through his past, a past he has always wanted to leave behind. And so, the tale of his friendship with Pawan, who is victimized by village politics and superstitions and loses his memory as a result, is revealed. The stories of the loving Jethiaama, the snake killer Chilgadi, the goon Rocky Dada, and the village shaman Kohinoor—all colorful characters who delight and surprise readers in equal measure—are intertwined in this story. Firfirey recalls the myriad memories of each of our unique pasts because it is written in such a lovely, fluid style. The relationship between a mother and son, a father and son, a brother and sister, and best friends are all expertly portrayed by the narrator. He has also had success illustrating how Nepali society functions and its superstitions. I wasn't bored because of the unexpected turn of events and the suspense of not knowing what would happen next. I didn't feel the 540 pages' length was a burden because I already knew the story and the overall plot. While reading "Firfirey," my eyes became wet, I laughed, and I was saddened by the characters' stories. Overall, the book was amazing! @buddhisagar_ #firfirey #fiction #bookreview #bookrecommendations #booklover #bookstagram #nepalibooks #reviewwriter #nepalibookstagram #nepalreads

One of the best thriller/horror books I have read this year. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🏝️ Hemlock Island by Kelley Armstrong 🪵This book was a mix of my favourite books Stolen Tongues, Shuddering, The Nesting and The Ruins. 💡(PLOT) 🪵Laney Kilpatrick runs a vacation home in a secluded island called Hemlock Island in the middle of Lake Superior. When strange occurances starts happening reported by the customers, Laney decides to go check herself. When she arrives with her teenage niece, she did expect to meet her ex husband, Kit and his sister, Jayla there. As they investigate, everything starts turning into a nightmare. 💭(THOUGHTS) 🪵When the book started, it was steady with small tesion filled instances. But as soon as that second half hit, the story exploded. The pace magnified, the horror became intense. There was gore, crime and some emotional relevations. 🪵Some people may find the book sappy and cringy but I felt connected with the characters. I believed this small bunch of people, in middle of trying to survive would sit and unfold their deepest feelings. The end took a turn similar to The Nesting, and I preferred that plotline. 🪵Armstrong is clearly a smart storyteller and kept me engaged through out. I just really love this specific trope while reading. I can't tell you how many times I gasped in public🥹 🍂🍂🍂🍂 Published: 2023 Page Count: 304 pages Genre: Horror/Paranormal Thriller 🏷️Tags #hemlockisland #hemlockislandbook #kelleyarmstrong #kelleyarmstrongbooks #bestreads #2023favorites #fallreads #mybookshelf #recommended #myreview #ayureads #kitabloversnepal #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #nepalibookstagram #nepalreads #readmore #readersofinstagram #horrorbooks #horrorbookstagram #thrillerbooks #booklover

|| ℍ𝕒𝕝𝕗𝕨𝕒𝕪 𝕋𝕙𝕣𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙 || 𝕻𝖆𝖌𝖊: 206/402 Dear Readers, If you have been following my journey with this cult classic, welcome to another update. Slowly but steadily I have reached midway to this tome. The pacing is something I am really struggling with. Some scenes are rather stretched out with longer chapters which is making the story dragging for me. It doesn't have the same ease that Frankenstein had. Also I don't feel much connection emotionally with the characters. The introduction of Dr. Van Helsing brought a much needed lively tone to the narrative. The horror is building up and what happened to dear Lucy was tragic. Even though Dracula has not come into limelight, his actions have been causing havoc. You know it is so unreal. I have grown up watching Dracula in the form of movies and I know what the story is about, but the book is definitely something else. Much more detailed (I have a love-hate relationship with the details), and beautiful prose. Hopefully I will complete this in a month or two. 📌 Dracula by Bram Stoker P.S. I got this edition from @bookverse.np ☕Happy Reading☕

📚 Book Review 📚 The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown is the second book in the Robert Langdon series. As per usual, the protagonist, a symbologist, is asked to solve a mystery involving ancient symbols. Given the character's extensive knowledge of the subject, combined with a gripping story involving Christian history, it makes for an unputdownable read. Dan's attention to detail, as always, captivates the keen reader in me. It's wonderful to be able to picture all of those historical museums and monuments just by reading his descriptions of them. The inventive use of cryptography is astounding. The conclusion was expected. That is the only drawback to this otherwise excellent piece of writing. Caution: The books make fun of the New Testament's veracity. If you are offended when someone questions your religious beliefs, you should probably skip this one. Verdict: If you enjoy mystery novels with unexpected plot twists, this is a must-read. It doesn't try new things, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work. I recommend it just to see what all the fuss is about. And then you can decide whether it is as big a deal as it has been made out to be.
