MAY DAY IS LEI DAY (May 1st) The history of lei making in Hawaii began when the Polynesians came to the Hawaiian islands from Tahiti between 1200 and 500 A.D. They brought with them their traditions for adorning themselves with local vines and flowers. To honor their Gods, they made wreaths and arranged local plants on strings to decorate themselves. It is said that ancient Hawaiians adorned themselves in variations of braided leafs, flowers, feathers, shells, seeds and nuts to differentiate the various classes of royalty. The most significant of all was the Maile lei, which was used as peace offerings between battling chiefs and on sacred events such as weddings, ceremonies and rituals. Today, because it is difficult to find native flowers to use for lei, many of todayʻs lei that are sold at retail outlets must be made of non-native flowers and often even invasive plants. Plastic leis are not a symbol of Hawaiiʻs lei. However, no matter what your lei is made of, remember the love from which it was given. The lei was seen as something special, hence the lei would never be put in the trash. The way to return the lei must be returned to the earth by hanging it on the tree branches, burying or burning it. When it comes to the lei making tradition, it is considered as a heart-made object representing the giving of time. Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011 Initial Rating: 8/10 I remember it like it was six years ago. My friend said, "Hey, we should go watch War for the Planet of the Apes. But first you need to watch Dawn (otPotA)". And so I did! But for some reason, I did not watch Rise. What might that reason be? I have no idea. Like I said, six years ago. But now I've remedied that error. Rise is the first of the planet of the apes trilogy, and as you'd expect, it features apes rising. James Franco wants to cure Alzheimer's, but instead he soon discovers his test ape is quite smart. Oh no! Or yay, depends on your perspective. I liked Rise! I don't know if it's as good as I remember the other two being, but it's a solid start to the series and gives some useful background that I didn't have prior. What stands out most to me is the motion capture work. The apes feel like real characters, something I think a lot of movies with similar challenges struggle with. The action is also well done, and some of the ideas surrounding how the apes are treated were interesting. My biggest gripes with this film are that it can get a bit cheesy at some points. There's some definite leaps in logic that you'll need to ignore. James Franco's character also didn't do a lot for me, I found him fine most of the time but never was super interested. I'd definitely recommend Rise, albeit largely as the gateway to superior sequels. ・ 先日、久しぶりにコリアちゃんとすれ違った。 近くだったのでちょっと待っててと速攻帰った。 貰った時は何も持ってなかったけど、ずっと 韓国オットットのお返しがしたいと思ってた。 今なら買ったばかりのトマトがうちにある！ 袋を開けお礼の旨を伝えて、 いくつでも持って行っていいよ！とさこ。 一つだけ受け取ってくれたコリアちゃん。 ちょっとだけ談笑。近況報告。 日本語にはまだあまり変化はない。 だからそんなに話せることもないけど立ち話。 一人だけ東京に日本人の友達がいること、 その人と渋谷でもんじゃを食べた話に チャリで浅草へ行きめっちゃ遠かった話。 コリアちゃんはとってもいい子。 100%のコミュニケーションは言語では 出来なくても、伝わってくるものがある。 そして楽しい子。 高校生の様に見えていたけど、ワーホリ中の現在 日本でも韓国のリモートワークをしている。 大学院を休学中との話だったから、 全然普通にお姉さんだったらしい。 日本に来るまで5年付き合ってた人もいたそう。 この日初めて名前を訊かれた。 違う背景を持っているから、お互いに 馴染みのない名前を覚えるのに苦労した。 ラインも交換した。 趣味の話でさこはダンス等、彼女は自国に ロードバイクを持ってる程自転車が好きなこと、 今日もチャリのシャツを着てると見せてくれた。 ご近所ならではで、あのお店とこのお店の人は 韓国語を喋るからよく話しに行くとか どのスーパーなら韓国食材が手に入るとか。 散歩するならどこかって話題の時に、さこが 朝活で少し離れた公園にいくと話をしたら 一緒に散歩に行きましょうと誘われた。 面倒くさい子でさえなければ、 日本語の勉強相手になるくらいでもいっか。 ライン交換の時も散歩のお誘いも、 人見知りしないさことはいえ ちょっとだけ躊躇したことが顔に出た気がする。 でもそんなこと気にしないで グイグイ来てくれるから仲良くなれる、 カナダの自分を思い出した。 日本の料理は美味しい、甘い、でも量が少ない。 自転車によく乗る子の空腹は、 ダンスで消耗するさこにはよくわかる。 会話中にあげたトマトを食べ出した彼女。 最後にもう一度、トマトもっと持ってっていいよ と声をかけたけど、好き嫌いはないと言いつつ 遠慮して散歩楽しみと去っていった。 #新しい出会い #新しい友達 #newfriend #newfriendship #korean #韓国語 #韓国人 #親日家 #🇰🇷🇯🇵 #humanity #ワーホリ 数時間後、彼女から初めてのラインがきた。 唯一の友達とはカカオトークだから、ラインには まだ、大家さんしか登録されていないらしい。 「私と交換して友達になってくれてありがとう」

আমার বাল্যকাল ছিল শ্বশুরালয় যাওয়ার ট্রেনিং। সকালবেলায় খিদা লাগতো খাবার চাইলেই বলতো এতো খাওয়া খাওয়া করলে শ্বশুরবাড়ি গিয়ে মান- সম্মান ডুবাবি। চুয়াডাঙা রুপছায়া সিনেমা হলে নতুন ছবি মুক্তি পেলেই চলে যেতাম সিনেমা দেখতে, পাড়া-প্রতিবেশীরা মায়ের কাছে বলতো তোমার মেয়ে একা একা হলে সিনেমা দেখতে যায়, বিয়ে দিতে সমস্যা হবে মেয়েকে শাসন কর।একবার পাশের বাড়ির বউকে তার স্বামী লাঠি দিয়ে মাথায় আঘাত করে অজ্ঞান করে দিয়েছে। আমি বললাম আমাকে মারলে ঔ স্বামীর কপালে ঝাটা মেরে দিতাম। তখন সবাই বললো এই মুখরা মেয়ের বিয়ে হবেনা, আজীবন ঘরে পচে মরবে। আমার কথা হচ্ছে যে বাড়িতে আমার জন্ম হল বেড়ে উঠলাম সেখানে পরের বাড়ি যাওয়ার জন্য এতো ট্রেনিং কেন? আমি কোনদিনও এই নিয়ম মানতে রাজী না। পরিশ্রম করবো, সততার সাথে জীবন-যাপন করবো।সবাইকে সম্মান করে চলবো। এটাকেই আমি প্রাধান্য দেই। #usa #DhakaBangladesh #Bangladesh #humanity
