I never pull up my last years plants until theyβve sprouted (for psb style shoots) and I always leave some to go to flower. There are many reasons... all brassicas do this and the sprouting shoots are delicious and something you canβt buy in the shops. The bees love the flowers and need all the early forage they can find. π±πΏππΏπ± Totally by coincidence, today has been all about the B's... π Busy π Beans π Beets π Blue sky π Broad beans π Brussel Sprouts π Bees I finally got the beans in and I had underestimated how many I'd got, so some have had to go on the side of the pumpkin/squash a-frame. I'm sure they'll be fine π I've got runners, purple climbing, hopi black, barlotta and green climbing. Obviously they weren't all labelled and the plants got muddled up so it may be a mix up π€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈππ€π± I've got multi sown beets by the beans and also in the cage. I always let a couple of my leeks run to seed and flower. Iβve found that sowing these make much stronger plants the year after. Once the head dries out, snip off and save until January. I then plant a few of these upside down in pots in my back garden and just let them get on with it.
