I’ve noticed that, often when someone cries in a session, they immediately apologise for doing so; when we consider that crying is both a natural and basic human behaviour, why do we feel the need to say sorry? There are numerous emotions that provoke crying such as sadness, anger, fear, relief, happiness and many more, but we’re very much conditioned not to express these emotions through tears from a young age. When we also factor in the cathartic sense of release and clarity we feel after crying, why is this restorative process considered a weakness, something I hear it frequently described as? Stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline are actually flushed out through our tears when we cry, allowing us to experience a surge of stress-relief and prevent feelings of overwhelm and frustration building; allowing yourself to cry whenever you need also helps develop greater long-term resilience. A further benefit is that crying activates your parasympathetic nervous system which, in turn, encourages the release of feel-good hormones such as endorphins and oxytocin; all of this helps support a natural and healthy way of regulating emotions. Well, after a few starts, stops & curve balls, we finally got project #heavybag for the #RexPlex sorted out to where we wanted to be. Learned a lot. Stuffing heavy bags is some hard work but we got it done. 55lbs of sand, small diameter footprint top to bottom wrapped is 50sq ft of soft insulation and some old socks and T’s! Solid balance between weighted yet easy on the joints when letting it rip. Couldn’t be more pleased. Looking forward to working it in. Yesterday anguish filled my day and today catharsis. My guest worked on deep inner child work and a lot of that focus is on our limiting beliefs instilled by parents’ comments made to us between the ages of 3-8 years old. My guest, being my eldest daughter, was asked to dig deep and to be brave to express her limiting beliefs originating mostly from her father and I. As her healer, I had to remain neutral and guide not just her, but us, through this process. As her mother, I needed to settle my ego response down and find my compassion and apologize from my heart. Today I’m reflecting under the reflection of the beloved sun codes all while dealing with family court orders and mortgage renenwal I did not want renewed. The timing of this deep healing of my daughter is inexplicable. All I can say, is if you’re willing to look at yourself in the mirror and offer yourself and others compassion, shifts begin to happen that becomes the cure for the trauma in the generational line.
