Gracias a @elasticafilms por apostar por sacar esta película en Blu Ray. Fue su primera edición en físico (o eso creo) y espero que no sea la última. Punishment.” . 20 years ago today, for me, one of the best Marvel and comic book movies in general was released. I absolutely love this one. Thomas Jane (again, for me) played the role of Frank Castle perfectly. I think he portrayed the role of a tortured man who lost everything and took out his brand of justice on those responsible to a tee. As much as I love Jon Bernthal in the role now, for me Thomas is the perfect Frank Castle. John Travolta is also great here, even if his performance is a little OTT at times. SPIDER LABYRINTH [1988] I have to admit I'd never heard of this before, but it sounded decent, and it's one a lot of people seem to have been waiting for in a while, so I took a gamble on it myself. I have to say, it's a fantastic little film. It's a giallo mixed with a bit of occult, and a really crazy ending I won't forget in a hurry! This is the Blu-ray release from Severin, and it looks absolutely amazing. Even with the mixed reviews, I went into this hopeful that it would be atleast a decent watch (especially with how great Afterlife was) and personally I enjoyed the hell out of it. It's not as emotionally driven or as nostalgic as Afterlife was, but we've seen that now with this series we don't need another film to play on our emotions the way the previous entry did. That's not to say there's no easter eggs that'll keep us longtime fans happy, because there's a few nice little nods and of course it's always great to see the OG's once again. Two of my favourite, and most underrated Vinegar Syndrome releases. Blood Games is a great little revenge flick about an all female baseball team who beat a rough redneck team from a small town. Defeat doesn't sit well with the rednecks, and it all escalates into violence from thereon! Resurrection is a criminally underrated film from the late 90s starring Christopher Lambert and directed by Russell Mulcahy. It does seem like a Seven ripoff to be fair, but it definitely stands on it's own two feet IMO. I don't want to spoil any of the plot for those who haven't seen it, and I'd advise going in knowing absolutely nothing at all! Ça ne parlera sûrement pas à la plupart d'entre vous, mais cette fabuleuse oeuvre est sortie quasiment en même temps que Star Wars. D'ailleurs, beaucoup de similitudes troublantes avec l'oeuvre de George Lucas, on se demande qui s'est inspiré de qui!😉 1979, Récré A2 (quelle émission )😍 : pour la première fois en France, on importe une série japonaise destinée aux enfants. Et ce pendant 27 épisodes de 22 minutes — ce qui, à l’époque, représente plus de six mois de suspens et de pur plaisir. 🌌De quoi ça parle ? On apprend qu'il existe un quinzième système solaire, composé de trois planètes : Sheita, Analis et Belda, gravitant autour du soleil Glora. Celui-ci se retrouve envahi par les Stressos, une tribu nomade dirigée par Golem XIII. Victimes de leurs attaques, Ayato, Ryû et Siman, un homme-singe, se verront aidés par une étrange femme nommée Éolia. Voyageant à bord de son vaisseau spatial en forme de navire, L'Azuris. Elle leur fait don du San Ku Kaï, un puissant vaisseau de combat. Ils décident alors d'entrer en résistance contre les Stressos, Ryû sous l'identité de Staros et Ayato se faisant appeler Le Fantôme. Ils seront rejoints par le robot Sidéro afin de combattre l'ennemi et ramener la paix dans la galaxie. 🙌🏼Vous l'aurez compris, on est au tout début du Sentaï ( comme avec Bioman plus tard ! ). On assiste à des combats colorés des forces du bien contre les forces du mal, selon un code d’honneur spécifique et grâce à des pouvoirs surhumains, surnaturels ou technologiques. Une œuvre philosophique, tant les thématiques soulevés sont toujours autant d'actualité. Il y a même une métaphore de l'oppression, avec clairement une référence aux nazis. Ça parle d'épuration, de camps... Et dire que c'était réservé aux enfants. Au Japon, ils étaient rôdé, mais en France, la perception n'était pas la même ! On a donc ici une série culte, mythique, avec un générique français qui restera dans les annales !😍

CEMETERY MAN [1994] Finally, Michele Soavi's brilliant film gets an incredible release on 4K! For me, this has it all. It's a romantic, zombie horror film that just works perfectly. It works because it's well written, well directed and Rupert Everett is just great as Francesco Dellamore. Severin have delivered a fantastic release here. It's a four disc set, featuring the film on 4K, tonnes of extras and the soundtrack as well. THE FUNHOUSE [1981] A nice 4K upgrade of Tobe Hooper's early 80s horror flick. It's a decent enough film, but it was always going to live in the shadows of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, but it's a totally different film that something totally different. Mais conduit par la peur, Amir trahit son ami, qui sera à jamais blessé, puis quitte l’Afghanistan. Vingt ans plus tard, il revient dans son pays, marqué par le passage des Talibans, à la recherche de la paix et du pardon… 🇦🇫Bon, après avoir dévoré le best‑seller éponyme du romancier américain d’origine afghane Khaled Hosseini, je me suis jeté sur l'achat de ce blu-ray. Le film prend soin de dépeindre l’apparente sérénité (le racisme latent entre les communautés est tout de même suggéré par le viol d’Hassan) et la douceur de vivre émanant de la capitale afghane, jusqu'à la chute. Mais cet avant radieux et le devenir barbare fondent la vision dans l'ensemble manichéenne du réalisateur je trouve. Chose que je n'ai pas ressenti dans le bouquin. Il y a un manque d'objectivité et un parti pris pour les américains... Les images sont superbes (les scènes avec les cerfs-volants sont très impressionnantes), le rythme vif et l’émotion au rendez-vous. Cependant, le film est loin de tenir les promesses tenues, il dure pourtant deux heures dix... J'ai l'impression d'avoir lu le livre en accéléré. Et vous l'aurez compris, l'émotion et la puissance du livre ne sont pas aussi bien ressenties. Néanmoins, toujours un plaisir de voir sur écran un blu-ray de qualité au niveau technique ( dédicace aux superbes images de cerfs-volants) et aux deux jeunes acteurs incarnants Hassan et Amir !
