I love me a good revenge action thriller flick and this is in the same vein as John Wick but with a little more story, heart, and culture as this draws from the legend of the Hindu monkey god Hanuman. The fight/action sequences were heart-poundingly intense and also super brutal that i had to turn away for some scenes. the soundtrack/score was also such a vibe. the pacing was a bit uneven with the middle section a bit longer/drawn out than i would've liked, but all in all, this was pretty entertaining Did you know - due to budget cuts, some scenes were filmed using iPhones and GoPros - Dev Patel wrote, produced, directed and acted in this. EUPHORIA: SEASONS 1 & 2 (& SPECIALS) (2019-2022) This show started really promising with a great first season but fell off the wagon very fast. The 2 extra episodes between seasons were totally unnecessary and borderline boring (although Colman Domingo’s acting was incredible). The second season just seemed really forced and like they were already struggling for storylines. The first season had direction and knew where it was going, but the second just felt like dragging it out to continue the show. Rue, Maddy and Cassie become unlikeable and the show constantly gives time to characters of no impact. Angus Cloud was incredible as Fez but doesn’t get anywhere enough screen time. Instead they dragged out the storyline of the disc for 2 seasons! Nate’s Dad becomes annoying when we should have grown to like him given his flashbacks. It just seemed like it needed more time to decide where it was going rather than making characters unlikeable in order to drag the show out. My Thoughts - Visually this was interesting and there is definitely some things I love in it, but overall I'm quite disappointed. I adore clowns and after matching the plot with a picture of "The Laugh", I was honestly excited to watch this. Personally I think the writing and jumpy atmosphere is what weighed this down. This drama follows two teenagers who want a better life for themselves and embark on a journey to make it to Europe. They both become captured and attempt to reunite after putting their lives at serious risk. Reviewing- Io Capitano This was a good and powerful film. I wanted the main characters to get to safety and you watch their dangerous journey. There are some slower moments that take a little while to get to anything, but the scenes involving the journey are good. Some scenes are difficult to watch and when you learn that the boys are 16, it makes it even more upsetting what they go through. A good drama exploring new beginnings. Trigger warning for violence.
