Female wellness, mindful practice, cyclical living, menstrual literacy, self-care, helping others to help themselves. This business is my passion! Why? Because I know the difference it can make! I wasn’t always this content and in tune with my cyclical nature! For years I was reaching outside of myself trying to find fulfilment. I was anxious and stressed. Online Client Progress in just over 3 weeks and another example of why scale ⚖️ weight isn’t the best determinant of progress! Sylvia has dropped an incredible 👉🏻 9cm around her waist 🙌🏻 👉🏻 3cm around her hips 🙌🏻 👉🏻 3cm in her back/chest 🙌🏻 👉🏻 & booty is a bit more perky 🙌🏻 Performance wise: ⚡️Energy is up and she is feeling stronger and satisfied In terms of her nutrition she is following a flexible macro based plan that is in line with her goals where we have ensured we have included the foods she would normally eat for sustainability that are also wholesome and a good balance of protein, carbs and fats for satiety, recovery and performance. In just over 3 & a half weeks there has been a noticeable difference in her progress pics especially in her mid-section, back and face despite her scales weight being within 1kg difference. Most people would be disappointed at the lack of weight loss on the scales but Sylvia understands that especially with strength training in her routine, scale weight is one small tool in the bigger picture of things and she is progressing in the right direction. This gentlemen here (shared with permission) doesn't have the range YET to lift his arms directly overhead - a movement thats needed for... 〰️ Lat pull downs 〰️ Pull ups 〰️ Shoulder presses etc This lack of range of motion can change with specific work. Before we weight train (load the body) it's a good idea to check the body has the necessary range of motion to accept the load efficiently. If the body doesn't have the range YET, it will recruit another area of the body to do more work to compensate for this restriction. Guess what this leads to across time.... It’s January 4th. You’re probably all in on your new diet for your health or weight loss goals this year. Would this meal be completely off limits for you? 🍎No dried fruit - too much sugar! 🥣No oatmeal - too many carbs and an anti-nutrient! “it’s peasant food” according to one major influencer 🥥No coconut - too much saturated fat! If any of these sound familiar, take note that your current diet is exactly that - a diet. Diet = SHORT TERM change with the goal of producing fast results …that often end up being short term results 😏 Is your diet aligned with your goals? If you’re *exercising 4-5 times/week for 45 min each, there’s no reason oatmeal or fruit of any kind should be off limits. What health habit am I practising ❓️ It's not watching my toe polish dry 😆 This is me, everyday, legs up the wall Calming my nervous system & "recovering hard". 9 years ago I was ......a burnt out exhausted working mum shall we say. I started my breathwork journey with 10 diaphragmatic breaths.....3x a wk. I thought I was a legend for doing this much selfcare 🤗 9 years later, I prioritise a daily practise of at least 15min of breathwork. I am definitely: ✅️ Calmer (as calm as I can be😆) ✅️ Sleeping better ✅️ Didn't get sick once this winter - that's a first for me ✅️ I'm happier ✅️ Energises me for the day ✅️ And would you believe my weight is easier to manage - from lying flat on my back 😂 Theres s bit of science behind that, however put simply my body no longer perceives its fighting a war so it doesn't need to hold on to protective bodyfat. It's amazing what you can achieve with consistent daily practice. This month marks 29years in our awesome industry. What is your fitness routine like during the holidays? A. The holidays is the time of the year to be with the family. I have no time for fitness so I push everything for sometime in January. B. It’s the time of the year where people get lazy and gain weight because all they do is eat. I’m gonna avoid all gatherings, go to the gym 5 days a week and eat clean the entire time. C. It’s my favorite time of the year. I spend time with the people I love and eat good food. I’m not 100% with my fitness routine but: - I do 2-3 workouts a week. - I walk 4 to 6K steps. - I enjoy some delicious high calorie foods and nutritious meals as well. 3 different approaches: 1. All fun - 0 fitness for 6 weeks. 2. 0 fun - All fitness for 6 weeks. 3. Middle ground between fun and fitness. As a coach I usually advise against the all or nothing approach. This is to avoid being frustrated and disappointed. On one hand you are frustrated because you lost all your momentum and are starting the year with a sense of being behind and starting over. On the other hand you’re disappointed because you spent no time with your people and failed to recharge your batteries for the new year. And finally you balanced fun and fitness. You enjoyed he holidays and kept some sort of structure in your days. You are refreshed and ready for more. That’s the difference between being rigid and flexible. Remember: You don’t have to choose one or other. You can do both. Are you rigid or flexible during the holidays? I want to share with you why I'm so passionate about lifestyle medicine. There was a time in my life when I had to rely on a wheelchair because of my Multiple Sclerosis. I was at my lowest point, feeling like I had no control over my own wellbeing. After some time, I came to the realisation that I was in control, I was in control of my own health and future. I discovered the incredible power of changing my lifestyle. Don't get me wrong, it has taken some time. But by making simple changes in my diet, physical activity, and adopting a different mindset, I went from being stuck in a wheelchair to walking and embracing life to the fullest. Erectorcise is an industry term we use to describe movement that shifts from ground to standing. When someone says ‘I’m gonna try it on my own for the first few months 🫣’ Believe me when I say this, I’ve been there and done that for years and my biggest regret with it all was not realising that with a coach I’d be so much further on.. Embarking on a health and fitness journey in your own is like going somewhere new without a compass 🧭 You don’t know, if what you’re doing is right for your goals? You begin to question, am I doing too much or not enough? What type of training should I be doing? How many days? What calories should I focus on, what amount of protein should I aim for? When will I see results? How long should it take for me to see changes? So you turn to social media & influencers who give pretty generic advice, and nothing personalised to you and YOUR goal. Leading to being overwhelmed by information overload, that often leads to us giving up and saying ‘I just need to get back on the wagon 🚙’ Does this sound familiar? Have you ever considered that maybe you are not the problem? Maybe it’s the approach you are using or the diet that you are on? I’m all about owning your actions and taking personal responsibility for your results, but have you ever considered that maybe its not your fault… I’ve talked to so many women who have shared their stories about “dieting” and how they couldn’t stay consistent, that it wasn’t sustainable, or they felt they just lacked motivation and put so much blame on themselves. Ugh my heart breaks every time I hear this. Maybe eating 1,000 calories per day isn’t sustainable. Maybe cutting out carbs is NOT fun. Maybe a 4 day juice cleanse isn’t going to jump start your weight loss journey. Maybe 6 days of cardio/week feels too hard. Maybe packaged bars, food, and shakes every day sounds daunting. Maybe you aren’t educated on what truly moves the needle. Maybe you’re still focusing on calories in/calories out. Maybe it’s the DIET’s fault!
