I refuse to call this a dirty pleasure or a cheat treat.. This glass of wine is so much more.. I spend my week looking after my body to the best of by abilities while also making sure I never obsess about anything. Obsessions are what we need to avoid at all costs, it’s not serving us well❤️ But what we do need to realise is that by doing what we keep doing will never change how we feel about ourselves, the state of our health or our looks. This glass of wine is nothing in comparison to the bucket of work I put in on daily/weekly basis toward a healthier me.. I eat to avoid massive glucose spikes and inflammation, I help my gut to grow some good bacteria by eating 20-30 different species of fruit, veg, spices, legumes, seeds combined. I eat to help control my hormones, I move more than ever before and I lift weights (so that I can help my dad load a refrigerator into the van😂) but in all honesty I do it to avoid major bone and muscle loss with age.. With time we change, things in our lives change so we need to keep adapting our new found `balance’. HOW DID HE DO THIS!!?? ⬇️⬇️⬇️ This was one of my favourite transformations to date, mainly because John didn’t just change his body but his whole mindset. He was a big believer in ‘if I work hard in the week, I deserve to let myself go of a weekend’ and this attitude was simply not working for him. As soon as John realised healthy eating and the gym wasn’t just a Monday to Friday thing he started seeing some real results… this doesn’t mean he doesn’t go out and it certainly doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a good time. He has just rained it in, controlling himself and not feeling the need to go out and self sabotage, just because he’s had a ‘good week’ He is on a plan which allows him to be still full up on tasty food (but the right foods) and go the gym 3/4 times a week around his busy work life, which is busier than most as he owns his own business… but he still ensures he makes time for his health. Big well done to John for this! This is the most consistent, disciplined, & determined I have ever been. As a trainer, I’ve been blessed with such amazing, hardworking clients w/ incredible transformations. This year I decided it was my turn! 💪🏼 I met Coach @rafyturo and my mental and physical health/strength has forever evolved and will only continue to. We are officially 15 weeks down of hard work, discipline, and dedication. This has resulted from the push and support of my coach Rafa, a structured meal plan with 1 cheat meal a week, gallon of water per day, 5 days of strength training and 6 days of cardio. I have chosen to commit to myself to compete this year and can’t wait for what is in store. The past few years I have struggled immensely with my gut health and could never find solutions. I was always bloated, not regular, and in so much discomfort all the time. I knew I had to get to the bottom of my gut issues. After numerous doctors appointments, a colonoscopy, several tests run, I found out my body was intolerant to almost everything I was eating… This journey has already lead to finding solutions to my chronic gut issues and I feel the best I ever have. I can’t wait for what’s to come & am so thankful for the community and support around me. I am so unbelievably blessed and thankful. Let’s talk about body image Fitness, especially competing in bodybuilding, can absolutely skew your perception of yourself and your body image Seeing yourself fluctuate and go through different phases can be challenging Whether you’re healing your metabolism to get to your eventual end goal of weight loss, going through an offseason or a growth phase (a ~bulk~ if you will), or a fat loss phase/a prep - your body changes It’s important to remember that your leanest physique is not necessarily your healthiest (especially for competitors), and not the look you should aim to maintain It’s hard but important to appreciate the different phases of your fitness journey and your life as a whole I’ve learned to appreciate and embrace the ~thicker seasons~ by shifting my focus towards all the ways my body serves me and all the incredible things it can do that are completely UNRELATED to the scale or how I look I focus instead on my strength, my energy levels, my cardiovascular endurance, my mental clarity, my sleep quality, my ability to have food freedom and flexibility when I eat more Even then I have difficult body image days, in prep and in offseason, it happens 🤷🏼‍♀️ On those days, rather than hyperfixate on the things I’m less satisfied with, I throw on baggy clothes or whatever makes me feel good in that moment and I go work hard in the gym or I go do an activity that feels fulfilling All to say that your body image relies on how you speak to yourself and what aspects you choose to highlight - so find and focus on the good And remember that you can’t hate yourself into loving yourself!!! 1 month hiatus from the gym with this week being my first week back and I’ve learned a couple things 1. I need to quit telling my clients “its all about just showing up” because after a few weeks off “showing up” felt IMPOSSIBLE 😅😂 2. Working out is a necessary fuel for my mental health and well being It was a great opportunity to humble myself and try to have self control over my body dysmorphia- kept my muscle mass the same but body fat went up 5% 🥲 (it’s all part of the process, it’s all part of the process…) Can’t wait to move forward with my fitness with summer coming up and try new goals I’ve set for myself 🤘🏼 Happy Friday 🦋 #fitness #fittips #postpartumbody #postpartumfitness #fitmom

👀Muchas veces tenemos el concepto erróneo de: eliminar productos de nuestra vida etiquetándolos como “malos”, cuando deberíamos reemplazarlos por una versión más saludable 🩷 1. El aceite de girasol es alto en grasas trans que perjudican tu corazón, pero si lo reemplazas por aceites de alto valor como el de coco te ayudará que la cocinada de tus alimentos sea nutritiva. (Recuerda: con moderación) 2. Los carbs son los más eliminados.... lo que yo te sugiero es reemplazar el arroz blanco, que tiene más procesos a otros carbohidratos simples más sanos y de mejor absorción como la quinoa, el arroz integral, la papa, la yuca, el camote, el verde... 3. Los jugos muchas veces son considerados 100% sanos... pero tienen una alta carga de azúcar, por lo que comer la pieza de fruta completa es mi mejor recomendación. 4. I’ve been doing this for years… Whenever i don’t have the next size up in dumbbells, I’ll stack two dumbbells! Bottom one is normally the heaviest i have and the top is whichever smaller weight i want to add on top so i can challenge myself more! I love doing this for DB Sumo squats, DB Squats, RDLs, etc! Have you tried this? It’s great especially if you workout from home or don’t have access to a ton of equipment!
