Life update as I try and regain some control… It’s been just over 3 weeks since we got back from London & Glasgow, we had the most incredible time… and since then I’ve started a new job! It’s something new and exciting… buts it’s meant a slightly new home routine which we are slowly starting to get into .. My favourite things about it - half day Tuesdays and weekends off for family time 🥰 Connor has picked his subjects for S3 following an amazing report from his S2 teachers, we are still no further forward with his ASD assessment (now 3 years on the list). He absolutely loved London - especially the war museum and already has plans for us to go back. Apart from that, we’re just plodding along - I’ve found myself in this weird wave of grief recently.. caught me off guard after the first birthday without my Gran, and my papas anniversary everything hit in a wave and I tried to bury it but it came to the surface a few weeks ago. It’s a funny thing grief… it’s been a little over 6 months somedays are good other days all I wish to hear is her voice greeting me with “Hello Toots.” Honestly I’m not sure how Sam and Connor have coped with how it’s left me recently. Anyways, I’m trying to focus a new mindset on - it’s not losing weight it’s looking after myself. No scales, just good food, water, 5 a day and moving more. Diet culture definitely isn’t healthy for me and my relationship with food! Grounded?! I’m up around 50,000 feet 😅 Joking aside, I haven’t posted any of my ‘usual’ content for a few weeks because I’ve really been struggling with my focus and motivation. It’s impossible to turn yourself around until you can identify the reason(s) you’re no longer grounded. For me personally, I can attribute this to a few obvious things: ✔️ holiday blues ✔️ the weather 😤 ✔️ lack of sleep (child related) ✔️ boredom ✔️ very little ‘me’ time & couple time These all sound like minor, or even ‘first world’ problems right? But what many fail to realise, is that; if you don’t address the little things that are set to throw you off course, over time they really can compile and bring you down. I can’t flick a switch back to a grounded mindset but, I can take positive steps to get me there: ✔️ ask for help (I’m terrible at this) ✔️ plan a date night ✔️ plan time with friends / for myself ✔️ share a night schedule to cover waking kids and actually sleep 😴 ✔️ book another holiday to get some sun 😅 ✔️ make (and execute) a plan for small quick wins & bigger, longer term goals and life plans ✔️ maintain healthy eating & exercise habits - I haven’t let this slip but chocolate and wine has been far more difficult to turn down lately If you feel as though you’re not very grounded lately, don’t worry, it happens. I see you.
