Head Position & Posture ⚠️ – The Secret to Max Activation. NFL pro @elijahwilkinson68 on 8 Moves.   Yes that’s right I’ve been harping on head, neck, spine, & posture positioning for a while now, even more so than I have in previous years as I cannot overemphasize how important posture is. In fact when combined with 90 degree eccentric isometrics I’ve seen it wake up dormant muscle fibers & motor units while fixing activation deficits, imbalances, misalignment, asymmetries, & numerous forms of muscle dysfunction that no other training methods could resolve.  That’s because the spine is the signaling highway for the body. If this is off, then you’ll be short-circuiting those signals.   This starts with a tall/elongated packed head (not compressed but retracted & packed head).Think about pulling the head as tall as possible while retracting it straight back (not tilted or cocked back). This will help cue the lats by pulling the shoulders down & back while simultaneously cueing the athlete to engage their core by bracing it & pulling their stomach in.   Once the posture is locked in it allows athlete to find optimal alignment, range of motion, & body mechanics from head to toe on each movement as every piece fits like a puzzle. In contrast if posture is not locked in, it will be impossible to perform any movement correctly as there will be imbalances, energy leaks, misalignment, & poor joint centration.   After this, focus on foot mechanics with feet/ankle joint perfectly straight (heels out). This may appear pigeon toed from front due to a wide toe box relative to heel. Go barefoot or wear barefoot shoes like @vivobarefoot (code DRJOEL25 last week to save 25% until November). Traditional shoes compromise foot activation & neural signaling.   The lifter will automatically gravitate towards 90 deg joint angles on most movements as going deeper will require them sacrifice these postural elements & alignment cues to various degrees. I NEVER force 90 deg on anyone. I simply teach the athlete proper alignment & posture & inevitably they always gravitate toward 90 deg the way God intended us to under high force scenarios.   #workout #fitspo

So we starter our preparations for World Championship qualifiers with gym. Since it’s the end of the season and the guys are pretty much tired, this gym was an easier one. Since I don’t know what guys do in their clubs (other than mine)c I don’t want to experiment now, because we don’t have time for that. Simple things work the best. As we get closer to the games we increase the speed and focus on power, but of course decreasing the reps (volume). My goal is to get clean, fast and explosive reps. 🫣 Don’t play a guessing game with your programming 🫣 Local sport, semi professional or professional athletes need a proper structure when it comes to in-season programming. What a lot of athletes do is what they consider “fun stuff”, group classes mainly are the training of choice in this regard. The problem with doing that, especially when you’re up and semi and pro levels, is that it’s almost impossible to monitor training loads as each class is unpredictable in its structure. When you add in on court / on field training plus games - especially during double header weekends - you absolutely run the risk of doing too much, which puts you in the high risk category to sustain a small or season ending injury. Sure, structured programming may now always seem “fun”, but it’s definitely effective! What’s DEFINITELY not “fun”’is not being able to play the rest of the season because you’re on the sideline with an injury. So if you’re running your workouts a little care-free at the moment, consider a little more structure to help you perform at your best and stay fit and capable for the whole season! 💡 Performance Tip Tuesday💡 Studies suggest that anywhere from 30-75% of middle and high school athletes are competing in a dehydrated state 😱 Even mild dehydration, as little as 1-2% loss of body weight due to fluid loss, can lead to decreased endurance, reduced strength, impaired cognitive function, and decreased coordination. Here are a few Signs & Symptoms of dehydration: 1. **Thirst**: Thirst is one of the earliest signs of dehydration. If you feel thirsty, your body is already signaling that it needs fluids. 2. **Dark Urine**: Pay attention to the color of your urine. Dark yellow or amber-colored urine is a sign of dehydration. In a well-hydrated state, urine should be pale yellow. 3. **Decreased Urination**: Reduced frequency of urination or producing very small amounts of urine indicates dehydration. Inadequate fluid intake can lead to decreased urine output. 4. **Dry Mouth and Lips**: Dryness in the mouth and lips is a common symptom of dehydration. You may also experience a sticky feeling in your mouth. 5. **Fatigue and Weakness**: Dehydration can lead to feelings of fatigue, weakness, and lethargy. This can impact athletic performance and everyday activities. 6. **Headache**: Dehydration may cause headaches or exacerbate existing headaches. Lack of proper hydration affects blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain. 7. **Dizziness or Lightheadedness**: Dehydration can lead to feelings of dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when standing up quickly. This is due to decreased blood volume and blood pressure. 8. **Muscle Cramps**: Electrolyte imbalances resulting from dehydration can lead to muscle cramps, particularly during or after physical activity. 9. **Confusion or Irritability**: Dehydration can affect cognitive function, leading to confusion, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and mood changes. It’s essential to listen to your body and recognize these signs of dehydration, especially during physical activity or activities completed outside. *CALLING ALL FITNESS PLATFORMS* ✨️Putting this out there 🤞💥✨️💫 I would love to collaborate with any fitness brand and be a product tester for leggings or any athletic attire for Petite athletes like myself . I am 4'11"(59in) and have struggled for years finding leggings that fit right. I was happy when 7/8 options were available but even those are long. Most companies reference petite as size for 5'4". I know many who do not fall in that range. Not only am I Petite but have thicker calves and quads and often times the seam will rip when trying to pull up🤷‍♀️ To find right length and proper fit all around would be amazing 🙏. I could do Capri length but they tend to hit my calves in the wrong places and are often too tight or longer making leggings look like not a proper fit. Shorts are an option but living in Colorado would not work during fall and winter seasons.
