What comes to your mind when you hear the word OCD? OCD or better known as obsessive-compulsive disorder is a mental health condition that is characterized by recurrent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) that a person feels compelled to perform. Imagine that your mind gets stuck on certain thoughts or images. For someone with OCD, these are not just regular worries about everyday things, but intense and persistent thoughts that don't easily go away. These thoughts are the obsessions. For example, someone might constantly worry that they've left the door unlocked or that they will be contaminated by germs. To try to relieve the distress or prevent the bad things they're imagining from happening, people with OCD feel compelled to perform specific actions repeatedly. These actions are the compulsions. For instance, washing hands over and over again to ward off contamination, or checking the locks several times to make sure the door is really locked. These compulsions, however, usually provide only temporary relief. After performing the compulsion, the obsessive thought often comes back, leading to a vicious cycle that is hard to break. The key point is that the thoughts (obsessions) and the actions (compulsions) are not something that the person wants to have or do; they feel forced to do them to relieve anxiety. Finally, it's important to recognize that OCD is not just a casual term; it's a serious disorder. Telling someone with OCD to simply 'stop worrying' is both ineffective and dismissive. "Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush" is a familiar children's song made into a book. It is illustrated by Annie Kubler. One of the earliest boardbooks we had, it shows the daily routines familiar to a child throughout the day: get out of bed, eat, brush teeth, shower, dress up, comb hair, go to school, work, play, go home, and rest. Ahhhh. It is so satisfying when we get to the end of the day. There's a sense of satisfaction, and one that we hope families get to enjoy together - spend some time reading, fixing a puzzle, playing with a train set, listening to music, etc. These activities are brought to life by the artist. Today after a night of deep dreams and activations and madness I needed calm.. I needed to switch my brain off and let my intuition take over, seed beads and glass beads are a very good way of me doing that apparently .. the ocean Is calling me home and I’m dreaming of witches and deep feelings.. so I let the ocean colours guide me into the start of something to wear for me..
