A história, que parece uma mistura de Jurassic Park com Inimigo Meu, recheada com clichês de outros filmes do gênero, acaba fazendo o filme óbvio e sem muita emoção. A passageira da nave é uma adolescente que fala um idioma diferente do piloto, o que não dificulta muito o entendimento entre eles. Já ele, ve na salvação daquela jovem, uma forma de compensar um fato que consome seus pensamentos e lembranças. E no meio de tudo isso, eles vão precisar sobreviver em meio aos dinossauros e um outro perigo, que se apresenta mais na parte final. THE BOOGEYMAN (2023) Me creaba curiosidad porque quiero empezar a ver algo más de terror, los que me seguís desde hace tiempo os habréis percatado que subo más reseñas de este género. Un punto que juega bastante a su favor es la duración ya que la trama es muy centrada en la historia que quiere contar desde su inicio por lo que no hay ninguna escena que esté de más, aunque claro eso le ha costado la falta de tensión en momentos claves que siempre se agradece en este género. Otro punto positivo es que no recurre al típico susto fácil metido con calzador y sin sentido. Y el final, aunque previsible, sí que me ha gustado y, el hecho de que dejen “una puerta abierta” a la posibilidad de una secuela me parece correcto dada la existencia del ente que se nos presenta. Eso sí, el ente, físicamente, me recuerda a otros monstruos ya existentes, pero es algo que puedo dejar de lado aunque me hubiese gustado algo más original y, por su parte, el elenco defiende bastante bien la película. Co-written and co-directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods who conceived the script for the largely successful film, ‘A Quiet Place.’ Collaborate on a futuristic tale about a pilot, portrayed by Adam Driver, who is assigned to transport passengers on a space expedition. Yet crash lands onto an unknown planet during an asteroid collision and discovers that he is 65 million years into prehistoric history when the dinosaurs once reigned on Earth. Initially intrigued with the premise, I was curious to see where the direction would go for this concept about past meeting future. But the film ultimately disappointments as the execution turns out to be very by-the-numbers with no twists or surprises. There were moments of potential as the airman discovers a lone survivor within the ruins of his cargo. A young girl portrayed by Ariana Greenblatt, who becomes a potential daughter figure to him with the audience curious to see their burgeoning relationship whilst they struggle to survive. But this is squandered as their characters are under-developed. Causing their bond to feel artificial rather than genuine as their relationship isn’t fully fleshed out in the writing department. Thus lowering the stakes as the viewer has no concern for their well-being throughout their journey. 65 is a decent pastime but will be marked down as a missed opportunity. There are endless possibilities on the direction that this feature could have taken to make it a more vibrant and fascinating adventure. But the passion was non-existent during this project. This film is a hollow shell riddled with plot-holes and plot-contrivances that only tones down the experience. 65 - [6/10]

"Dinosaurs have been a staple in cinema since the dawn of filmmaking. Whether it be Winsor McCay’s groundbreaking “Gertie the Dinosaur” or Steven Spielberg’s phenomenal “Jurassic Park” (which gave birth to tons of cash-ins, including the infamous “Carnosaur”), these extinct creatures have long been a part of sci-fi cinema. However, it seems like people can’t make another good dinosaur film after “Jurassic Park,” with “65” being a great example of this. “65” follows Mills (played by Adam Driver), a pilot from the planet Somaris, who goes on a long-range space expedition to afford to treat his daughter Nevine’s illness. While on this expedition, Mills’ ship is suddenly hit by a plethora of asteroids, resulting in it crash landing on a prehistoric Earth encompassed by dinosaurs. Mills miraculously survives the crash, with the only other survivor being a young girl named Koa (played by Ariana Greenblatt). Driver tries his best with the material he was given to work with, resulting in a performance that isn’t entirely awful but isn’t exactly great either. This is primarily due to a mediocre script co-written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (who also directed the film). Beck and Woods, best known for co-writing the screenplay for “A Quiet Place” with John Krasinski, have made a film that does what is quite possibly the worst thing a movie could do, be absolutely boring. While the concept overall could be done well, the execution for “65” is done so poorly. For instance, a few jump scares are featured in the film, which almost feels like a crutch. The characters also don’t feel fully developed, making the viewer not care about them. Despite having a short runtime of ninety-three minutes, this was a difficult film to get through – especially with an almost ironic lack of focus on the dinosaurs." Die Actionszenen sind ganz ok und auch das Setting gefällt mir ganz gut, aber der Rest ist echt unterdurchschnittlich. Eine einfallslose Story inkl. schlechtem Storytelling, uninteressante Charaktere und stellenweise sehr dürftige CGI Effekte. Mit diesen Rahmenbedingungen kann auch ein Adam Driver nicht mehr rausholen. Das beste am Film ist seine vernünftige Laufzeit von gut 1 1/2 Stunde. Despite having already felt compelling to wax lyrical about HAUNT last year around the time that 65 was released in theatres, I want to give the film a shoutout once again because it’s such an under-appreciated slasher. @beckandwoods might be most well known for writing A QUIET PLACE but when I think of their work I’m always drawn first to HAUNT and how incredible that movie is. It’s so creepy and tense, filled with likeable characters and villains that are perfectly mysterious, and both the violence and the gore is everything I could ask from a low-budget slasher. 65 (2023) ~ 5/10 • Adam Driver truly puts himself through the wringer in this movie. Which rises above the material and keeps it watchable. As he is definitely inspired by something throughout. I only wish as an audience member we could feel the same way. The film is disappointing even though it seemed to come out of nowhere when released. The audience should expect more from the writers of A QUIET PLACE. Who wrote and directed this film. You want a little more originality or at least try to put an original spin on the material. This just feels like a lost 1980s science fiction, B-movie with modern special effects. Understand that this is a starter film for the screenwriting duo, to show what they were capable of, but you would hope there was something better. As this seems like a film that was either lying around or that they were brought in to salvage and failed. The film tries to world-build and gives us glimpses of this new planet or terrain that Adam Driver is exploring. At first naturally then as he tries to survive against dinosaurs and repair his ship. Though pretty soon this feels like a movie that owes itself more to those special effects than making an entertaining movie. This feels more like it could have easily been more of a video game. Worst of all it Comes across as basic. Most of the audience has seen this type of film before. Hoe cool klinkt 65? Dit is een film waarin een buitenaardse astronaut 65 miljoen jaar geleden neerstort op een, voor hem, onbekende planeet. De astronaut weet alleen niet dat hij eigenlijk is neergestort op onze planeet die nu nog bomvol zit met dinosaurussen. Met de naderende komeet die de wereld van de dinosaurussen zal laten instorten, bevindt deze astronaut zich in een strijd tegen de tijd om zo snel mogelijk een reddingsschip te bereiken. 65 klinkt met deze beschrijving als een krankzinnig coole film. Helaas is 65 niet zo geweldig geworden als het filmverhaal klinkt. 65 is het soort film dat een geweldig idee voor een filmverhaal bevat, maar dit concept niet naar een sterke film weet over te zetten. De film bevat gelukkig wel enkele positieve punten. Het acteerwerk van Adam Driver is redelijk goed. De acteur oogt betrokken bij de film. Daarnaast levert hij een zo goed mogelijke acteerprestatie met het materiaal dat hij gekregen heeft. De jonge actrices Ariana Greenblatt en Chloe Coleman leveren ook geen slecht acteerwerk in deze film, maar ze krijgen – net zoals Nika King – maar weinig te doen in 65. Het grootste pluspunt van 65 is het camerawerk van cinematograaf Salvatore Totino. De cinematograaf levert verbluffend camerawerk. Totino’s cinematografie is de grootste reden dat de tijdsgebonden filmwereld van 65 geloofwaardig overkomt. De film is overal niet verschrikkelijk slecht, maar is wel flink teleurstellend doordat de filmmakers niet de potentie van deze spannende sciencefiction thriller en actiefilm weten waar te maken. 65 is nu te streamen op Netflix in Nederland. Cada vez me gusta más Adam Driver, está en los proyectos más interesantes y siempre cumple con su papel. En este caso como héroe de acción traumatizado. Pese al arranque muy Planeta de los simios pronto nos encontramos en un film más cercano a la serie B de los 70 / 80. Y es que sus 93 minutos están perfectamente aprovechados con una magnífica economía narrativa y basada en la fisicidad de sus personajes y situaciones. Es destacable que en el cine actual se nos presente en sólo 7 minutos al personaje principal y su conflicto interior. Una buena peli para una tarde de palomitas y para los amantes de los dinos. Damn, I was kind of looking forward to this 😢 The promising mix of dinosaurs and a laser-rifle-toting #AdamDriver fails to catch fire in this underwhelming and derivative sci-fi survivalist thriller. #Writer/directors #ScottBeck and #BryanWoods, who co-wrote #AQuietPlace, imbue this environment with many tangible dangers, and #Driver's physicality and warmth are well utilised. #ArianaGreenblatt impresses, too, as she projects both fear and fortitude. But their efforts are hampered by the rudimentary plot, which lumbers between set pieces with no sense of pace or character development. The action sequences are equally half baked, leaving the dinos stripped of majesty, while a climax that echoes countless 90s disaster films is further proof that @65movie has precious few ideas of its own. 2 stars
