Try sleeping with a fan on or even change the type of bedding you use to help regulate your body temperature. Try to go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. A consistent schedule can help realign your sleep cycle and allow you to get more quality sleep.โ € Having caffeine too late in the day can mess with your sleep cycle. You may end up confusing your body and sending mixed signals so when you are actually going to bed, your body might be thinking it is time to do something else. โ € Put your phone, tablet, or laptop down at least 30 minutes before going to sleep. This is allow your mind time to unwind and reset.โ € Sleeping too much or too often during the day can confuse our bodies. We may accidentally train our bodies to sleep during the day not at night. The more we say to ourselves - and believe - that we are NOT something the more we experience painful emotions and low confidence. The next time you have a thought, such as, I am not good at making friends, pause. What is the evidence to support this thought? What is the evidence to refute this thought? I bet you will find more evidence to refute the thought than support it. Affirmations are short, positive statements about goals you are working on, qualities you have, and positive thoughts about who you are. The National Museum of African American History and Culture/Smithsonian focus and exhibit for the week of February 12-18th is Visual Arts. "Reckoning: Protest. Defiance. It is being willing to sit with painful thoughts and emotions without avoiding or pushing them away. Acceptance doesn't mean that things won't change or you won't put in the effort. It just means accepting what is right now.โ € Watch out for the comparison trap! The more we get caught up in comparing ourselves to others the more we start to feel down and experience swirling negative thoughts which can also contribute to low mood and anxiety.
