Our summer goal is in full swing! This morning we visited one of the many splash pads. Aislynn was NOT a fan and Cayden took a little while to get used to it but once he did, he loved it. “How you make others feel about themselves, says a lot about you.” * Our little family went to Kroger this passed Sunday and we were at the checkout line. Tyler & I were putting the groceries on the belt line or whatever it’s called and as soon as I looked up to check up on Lyla, there was an old woman smiling & laughing at her. * I didn’t know what was going on so I looked confused and the lady said right when she pulled behind us with her cart, Lyla gave her the biggest laugh and smile. Then I started to smile too because just seeing the look on the lady’s face made my day ❤️ * She told me that I have a precious daughter and made her day better because she was having an upsetting morning. I didn’t know what to say and all I could say was, “thank you.” I just kept looking at the lady’s face because she was still smiling while Lyla was blowing her kisses without me asking her to and just giving her the biggest ray of sunshine. ☀️ * I wanted to give the lady a hug as we got done checking out but I didn’t because I didn’t want her to feel intimidated or scared but man, in the whole car ride, I knew I should gave her a hug because you never know if that person is having a bad day or they’re going through tough times. * If our kid(s) can make a person day better just by smiling, why can’t we? We don’t have to say anything but just a nice genuine smile or a nod goes a long way. Or if you’re at the cash register and you see the worker’s name tag, ask them how their day is going by saying their name as well. A smile or asking how a persons day is going could make their day a bit better . 💫 * #justbenice

• When I was pregnant at least one small part of me really believed I would be pregnant forever. I felt like my pregnant body was just how my body would always feel from here on out, like I would always be peeing every 10 minutes for the rest of my life, and like I would always have heartburn after every meal... forever. But it doesn't last anywhere near forever. Now that it's over I feel like all I did was blink and the belly I'd grown so used to was just... gone. . I can sit close to the steering wheel again when I drive, I can roll over in bed without having to flail and scoot and wiggle, I can climb up my stairs without feeling winded... . The strange thing now is that sometimes I can still feel my belly--feel it in the way that someone might feel a phantom limb--where it's absent, but the sensation of its presence is still familiar. It's strangely haunting, and surreal to think about how the Claire I know today is the same tiny life I carried with me every day for those 39 weeks.
