Building healthier happier habits one day at a time.🤍 Going into week 2 of my 21 day challenge of taking back my mornings and getting up by 5 am. And I gotta say.. MAN! Am I productive! And my days go by so much smoother! I wake up and start my day pouring into my own cup so then I can pour into others.🤍 The added accountability to get my but up and going has been huge! I wake between 4:30-5. I get ready for the day, glass of water always first, my face routine, makeup, make my superfoods shake, sit at the table with my devotional, Bible, journal and have some me time then press play on the workout all by 6am.🙌🏼 I did reward myself for my consistency last week with a sleep in Saturday and an unplugged day! It was simply amazing! Which I will continue to do each weekend. Taking back my mornings has been a game changer for me! And what better time to start new healthier happier habits than a new month!? I had big plans when we moved into this house last year. Dreams of brass hardware and fresh paint and perfectly curated shelves of decor. Mid Century modern with all of the coziness and hopes for a space that felt so pretty to my eyes. What I didn’t realize is that none of those things make a home at the moment. They can be pretty to look at but right now we don’t need any of it, because our home is richer than we could have ever imagined. All of the corners that I immediately wanted to change are now the corners that hold so many of my favorite memories. And I know our babies won’t wish we had that perfect shade of greige on the cabinets, they’ll be thinking about the fun tub that we could all fit in together. The tub where we had toy hunts in the bubbles and our laughs echoed off the tile. We have our whole lives to be sitting in the perfect aesthetic, but we don’t have our whole lives to be here right now. So 90’s tub, I’m sorry for making fun of you. You’re kind of the best.

I’ve been doing the @fiveminutejournal (gratitude practice) for about a week now and I noticed something tonight that felt really amazing. I had a really challenging day with my (almost) 2-yr-old. There was blood (his), bruised eyes (mine), tears (both of us) and mountains of frustration (both of us again). Here is the visual: carrying him as he attached his body to a bike that he found in the store through the parking lot kicking and screaming because of course he wants to ride said bike in the busy parking lot while I am sweating bullets also carrying all the bags as they dig into my elbows. Ok, Back to the journal. There is a section where you’re asked to list your highlights from the day. The first highlight I thought of was going through the trenches today with my little guy. 🤯 Looking back on it all, I felt like it actually brought us closer together in someway. Added some grit to the otherwise giggles and endless snack requests. And you know what else? I then felt grateful for the connection with a friend who made me laugh about how these toddlers can be “so rude” with her own story of a morning adventure gone awry. And it brought light to my gratitude around having a loving husband who gave me a long hug when he got home and lovingly told me to “get out of here!” Then on a long (LONG) walk, how happy I was to feel the sun popping in and out of all the houses and really appreciating how beautiful my neighborhood is in the Spring. And the list just snowballed from there. So - my point. ONE : End of the day reflection is so beautiful. TWO : Perspective can shift massively when given a loving space to blossom.
