With the help of a handsome and infuriating half-Fae named Tadgh it should be easy. But of course it's not that straightforward, because where would the fun be in that? Un mundo muy rolero, histórico pero fantástico, con maldiciones, aventuras, faes, la misión de matar a un ser inmortal, giros curiosos y unos personajes que despiertan la curiosidad. Me encantó nada más empezar. Keelynn quiere matar al ser que mató a su hermana y así devolverle la vida y para ello va en su busca con la ayuda de un medio fae que 💜 Tadhg me ha encantado. Primero por su misterio y como se desenvuelve con la prota. Tiene picardía, magia y después un lado cuco que 🫶🏻 Me gusta mucho que enseña el racismo que hay con los seres mágicos y la evolución que la prota tiene. Te introduce el mundo poco a poco, con una ambientación que me dio vibes a El príncipe cruel y a OUABH con las maldiciones y todo es genial, aunque estuvieran la mitad del tiempo borrachos pero eso daban los mejores momentos y LIVING. Hasta que... Se lía. No entiendo como pasó de la aventura, pequeña acción y descubrimiento de la relación del par a reencuentros innecesarios con un triangulo amoroso que odié y una continua pelea y reconciliación de los protas que WHY? Para después al final ser más rápido y tener una conclusión que si bien es lo esperado, me ha dejado super meh. En serio, ha sido muy "rápido" y no me convence. Empieza genial pero siento que los protas no tienen química y las escenas spicy se me han hecho innecesarias. Unos líos de friendzone que me ha dejado 😐 Me ha gustado el mundo y el rollo de las maldiciones así como la primera mitad, pero siento que se apresura mucho en algunos giros, para el final como que es demasiado y siento que no se ha aprovechado bien la historia. ✨Book Review✨ A Cursed Kiss by Jenny Hickman Myths of Airren Book 1 💋⚰️💚🗡️💍 ✨Spoiler Free✨ 💋This was such a fun, adorable read and actually has a happy ending! I’ve been reading a lot of books that end in cliff hangers with the series unfinished so this was soooo refreshing. Plus, an enemies to friends to lovers always hits. Tadgh is a messy mysterious fae that isn’t all that he seems and we all love a hot morally grey character with secrets. Keelynn is such a sweet character who is frustratingly relatable who truly just wants to save her sister but end up growing a lot. There’s also some really good banter between them that made me giggle. 🌶️I gave a 2.5 for spice because it was there but wasn’t as descriptive as other books. And that’s not a bad thing! I’m not sure about to open/closed door terminology but this was less graphic? It focused more on the love and feelings felt than actual act itself. As someone who normally prefers call a priest graphic, l truly enjoyed it! It was sweet, romantic, and beautifully written. ⭐️I gave this 4 stars! It was fast paced, adorable, and everything I was looking for. The only gripe I had is the off and on-ness of their relationship from miscommunications was driving me crazy. It was made up for in the characters and how happy it made me feel. I’m excited to continue the series and read Tadgh’s POV and learn about Aveena and Rian’s relationship in the next books! ✨Spoilers✨ Tadgh’s curse is fuuuuuuucked. I hope we learn more about just how many curses he had. Just finished working my way through the world of Airren by @authorjennyhickman So, the Myths of Airren series was definitely a slow burn. The 2 additional, Male POV books, Prince of Deception and Prince of Seduction are must reads, making this a complete, 5 book series! After the first book, I felt like the climax was maybe a little rushed, but after you finish the series you see it's all in the writing style and the story telling! The storylines of each of book overlap and you pick up little nuggets along the way to the bigger picture. There are beasts. There are fated mates. There is witty banter. There is spice. There is fantastic world building that isn't overwhelming and easy to follow. Overall rating: 4:5. For this round of #TheLastBookIReadCollab, my "last book" is actually five books: the Myths of Airren series by @authorjennyhickman! It's a NA romantasy with morally gray MMCs, forced proximity, fated mates, enemies to lovers, and great banter. I normally stick to digital editions of most books to save space but I may have bought a beautiful hardcover set of this series. 😅 Each nail represents one of the main characters. From thumb to pinky, we have Ruari (golden eyes, can shift into a black stallion), Keelyn (steel gray eyes, has an enchanted dagger), Tadhg (emerald eyes, has a cursed kiss), Rían (cerulean eyes, cherries are the symbol used at the start of chapters/sections in his POV book), and Aveen (ice blue eyes, loves fuchsia plants). It was weirdly difficult to get pictures that had Keelyn's dagger and Tadhg's kiss both in clear focus at the same time. 📖 Reading Update 📖 Hello, fellow inklings! What book are you starting your weekend with? I just finished A Cursed Kiss and will probably start in on the next book tonight. I enjoyed this one and am curious to see where the next one goes. I also appreciated how this one was almost like a standalone in how it wrapped up pretty neatly. One of my favorite parts though was the relationship between Keelynn and the MMC, especially in how it reminded me a lot of Jacks and Evangeline from OUABH. Even apples make an appearance! Some of the things I enjoyed about this one: ✨ Enemies-to-Lovers ✨ Banter ✨ Bargains ✨ Curses ✨ Magic ✨ Hidden Identities ✨ Mystery ✨ A society where not everything is as it seems ✨ The nickname given to the FMC by the MMC Other Notes: 🚩 The beginning of the story felt a bit abrupt to me. I would have loved to see more exposition, character building, and world building. These things are very clipped and rushed in the beginning and left me ultimately wanting more descriptions/events to occur sooner, but once past those opening moments, the story picks up pretty well. I felt all the feels on this one - anger, disbelief, outrage, indignation, annoyance (looking at you, Keelynn), hope, joy, lust, despair, elation, shock.. I mean honestly. Every time I thought the feels were felt, something else happened that took my breath away. This review is condensed for IG, check out my Goodreads for the full shebang 📝 {another excellent rec from @headcanonheadcase} Our story follows a younger sister at the start of the worst night of her life. One reckless decision after another sets her on a path to meet the fabled witch in the woods and, with nothing left to lose, she makes a deal that will allow her to not only seek revenge but get back the one thing in this world that means the most to her. The story is single POV from our dear frustratingly obtuse Keelynn - and while I found myself ready to kick her in the shins, I ultimately found myself loving her and seeing within her a little bit of myself. Its so easy to lose yourself to comfort and familiarity by not bothering to question or understand that which is unknown. But at the end of the day, even in a world of gray there is good intent and that is what made this story so intriguing. If you like: - epic fantasy quests led by a stubborn woman who’s pride almost costs her everything - anti-hero cinnamon roll types that are layered and complex, wearing their reputations as badges of honor (or maybe just as armor..?) - the makings of a social and political revolution among a population that has abused its magical citizens for too long.. .. YOU GOTTA READ THIS BOOK. I literally felt like I ran a marathon by the time I finished.
