Another new recipe(s) win! We did the math and this meal only cost us $15, and it includes leftover soup for lunch today. 👌🏻 My sister made us this skillet bread when she visited and now it’s my new fav… as she says, it’s “stupid easy”. I agree. Literally 4 ingredients stirred together to make a thick wet batter then baked on a skillet with melted butter. Then its this dense fluffy soft “bread” that tastes like a biscuit. I don’t care for biscuits, but I love this skillet bread fresh out of the oven w/salted (grass-fed) butter and honey. Yumm. It’s our new cornbread replacement too cuz I can’t find Bob’s Red Mill cornmeal anymore 👎🏻 The bread so filling and perfect with a nice soup. ~ ~ Made two more loaves of my super favorite gluten free whole seed bread. I always keep it on hand. I slice the loaves and freeze them. I typically toast it with ghee in a cast iron skillet and eat with breakfast alongside yolky eggs. ~ You soak millet and buckwheat for a day in water and acv. Then you rinse and blend the seeds with more water and acv then let stand for another day (I’ve let it go longer for extra fermentation). The third day you add flax meal and water, olive oil, salt, herbs, and baking powder, and bake. Recept je od @zdravlje_pa_sve_drugo , malo modificiran po mom ukusu 😊 Sastojci: ● 200 g raženog glatkog brašna ● 200 g pšeničnog glatkog brašna ● 1 žličica sode bikarbone ● 1 žličica praška za pecivo ● 1 žličica lanenih sjemenki ● 1 žličica chia sjemenki ● 1 žličica sezamovih sjemenki ● 10 g maslinovog ulja ● 450 ml vode Pomiješajte zajedno sve suhe sastojke i maslinovo ulje pa ih malo po malo dodavajte u vodu. Had no bread in the house, so made soda bread. It's not that I don't live 10 minutes from the shop, it's that I am going through a phase of trying to use up what I've got in the cupboards to make my kitchen a touch more workable and there's a whole lot of bread flour, actually. Plus, it's a nice, simple thing to do with Frances, who was fascinated by it. I used my trusty @rivercottagehq bread book, that I've been making bread from since my mid 20's, to get 'er done, opting to use of some of my more rugged wholegrain flours for the task. Soda bread is perfect near-instant gratification as it doesn't need to rise or prove, and it has a pleasingly salty tang that hangs nicely with sweeter or more frugal recipes. Which is bang on for the fact I served it with a parsnip, carrot, turmeric and ginger soup I made with some castoffs from work, and the last of my pink pickled onions from the fridge. I'm really at my happiest and best pottering around in the kitchen: especially when Frances is with me going 'me too mummy I want to mix it!' and getting her hands dirty. It's a lovely way to spend a morning before an afternoon out in the world.
