“Be where your feet are.” Sometimes life can be extra challenging to cope with what’s in front of us and we can suddenly feel so overwhelmed. In these situations I know it’s easy to get carried away by our thoughts, mind is racing, shallow breathing and we may feel ungrounded, stressed and anxious. Based on my personal experience I try really hard not to catch that speedy ‘thought train’. I anchor myself, ground myself to the present moment which can help to settle things. Here’s one technique I use, 1. Look down, notice your feet on the ground or floor. 2. Stand firmly on the ground/floor and push your feet into the ground/floor. 3. See your feet strongly connected with the floor/ground, notice your body sensations, notice sounds around you, if eyes are open notice what you can see infront or around you. 4. Bring all your awareness to your breath, 5 mindful breaths in and out. 5. Repeat for as long as you need. You can also do this lying in bed, or seated, just use your imagination and visualise your feet on the ground. Meditation is an advanced spiritual practice that can lead you to deep spiritual realization. Right Times are those times, embedded within the rhythms of the cycles and seasons of Nature and the Cosmos, when a particular activity is most beneficial. 🌘 In older days, the wisdom keepers knew the Right Times for not only the Sacred rituals and ceremonies, but also the most mundane of activities. 🌗 The times when washing the laundry was most effortless, because dirt came out easily and the cloth dried quickly. When to plant which seeds that they germinate surely, grow strong and bear the most fruit. When to harvest, make the jam, bake bread and cut hair….water the houseplants, clean the windows, paint the walls and cut the timber. Right Action arises when our living spirit moves unimpeded through us to respond and engage with what ever life brings to us. 🌖When we attune to the cycles of the moon and the season, we begin to FEEL when those Right Times are. When we awaken to the fact that we ARE nature, our healing and growth deepens and expands. Our purpose and our path becomes clear, and Right Action arises. Dech, respektive ten hluboký, je tou nejlepší a nejdostupnější formou masáže, kterou si můžeš dopřát kdykoliv a kdekoliv. Když dýcháš zhluboka a vědomě, působíš na své svaly zevnitř a můžeš v nich cíleně uvolnit napětí. Ale víš jak na to? Víš, jen si na to musíš vzpomenout. Vlivem stresu a životního stylu velká část z nás zapomíná, jak kvalitně dýchat. Většinu našeho života trávíme vsedě - ve flexi, hrbíme ramena a zavíráme hrudník, při námaze často dýcháme ústy a omezujeme funkčnost našich dýchacích svalů a tím i kvalitu a kapacitu dechu. ❓Víš jak je na tom tvůj dech? Zkus si na chvíli sednout vzpřímeně, zavři si oči a jen chvíli pozoruj, jak dýcháš. Bez jakékoliv snahy proces ovlivnit. Je tvůj dech mělký? Proudí do plic nebo dolů do bránice? Zvedá se ti při nádechu břicho, hruď nebo jenom ramena? Je nádech delší než výdech nebo naopak? Dej mi vědět do komentářů nebo DM, jak to máš právě ty! 🙏 🌬️Dech je život. I firmly believe that our external experiences reflect our internal landscape, yet many of us never learned to effectively navigate our inner world—I certainly didn’t. Often, we’re taught to suppress our emotions: „Don’t cry,“ „You’re too sensitive,“ „Don’t be so angry.“ This leads us to bottle up feelings, wear masks to get through the day, and sometimes, inevitably, lash out. Sound familiar? A few years ago, during a tough period filled with anxiety, I discovered breathwork. Although I had experimented with yoga, pranayama, and meditation, nothing had impacted me like that first breathwork class. Fresh out of an anxiety attack, struggling with chaotic thoughts, just one hour of conscious connected breathing felt like hitting a reset button on my entire being. This profound shift not only calmed my anxiety but also reconnected me to a state of love, gratitude, and compassion, releasing all inner tensions in a way I had never experienced before—cheesy, perhaps, but incredibly powerful. This ignited a deep curiosity about breathwork’s science and its potential for emotional and psychological healing. Breathwork is powerful because it offers a direct way to influence our nervous system. While we can’t control our digestion or heart rate directly, we can alter our breathing and, thus, our emotional states. This practice empowers us to face, feel, and process our inner emotions, reconnecting us to our inner truth and setting the stage for the state of being we desire—whether to perform better at work, face challenges, or improve our well-being, mood, and sleep quality. Addressing our mental health is crucial. Without tackling our inner challenges, we risk leading unfulfilled lives, driven by external validation that never truly satisfies. As I sat outside the sweat lodge last night guarding the North door before my turn to go inside the lodge ceremony, I was struck by how the bright dandelions that had earlier in the day been so open had closed to the late cool day air. As I support many in Group Breathwork Journeys, this opening and closing reminded me of the BALANCE in life- of holding, tending, AND replenishing, renewing. 🌀💕 A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of returning to one of my favorite places- the Sedona red rocks. After this deep nourishment, I came back with wide arms and an open heart to welcome in the many who are called to the deep work of Breathwork with @spiraldancetaniazuckerman . And wow- returning to guide two beautiful Group Breathwork Sessions @goodmedicine_collective and @greenerposturesyoga with new eyes was so powerful - what a beautiful exchange of energy we shared!! 🙌 ❤️ Seeing again how this INNER balance is always reflected in our outward balance/offering was a beautiful remembrance for me that the world does not hurry when we are LISTENING. 🌏🔥 To discern the quiet still place inside amidst the many world distractions is perhaps the greatest lesson for us all. How many times do we beat ourselves up over something that has happened an incident, a conversation or a thought that we have about ourselves. Your Human it happens but we can change this, neuroscience teaches us that the brain only holds an emotion for 90seconds. It is our mindset and our thought process that feed and perpetuate the feeling and sometimes we let these feelings dictate our lives for years. We continue to tell ourselves the same story line over and over again and this often supports the continuation of this feeling or emotion. When we allow these thoughts to over consume our brain, they become our default thoughts. You have the power to stop this, you can change this feeling. You can free yourself from the suffering of these negative thoughts. By retraining the mind and forming new thought patterns and new neural pathways in the brain. It only takes two things - consistent effort and time By becoming aware of the thought and practising the 90second reset method. When you're stressed or have an overwhelming emotion, pausing for 90 seconds, labelling how you're feeling eg. I'm getting angry, helps to tamp down the activity in the amygdala. This is known as emotional labelling and it helps calm the brain region involved in outbursts and helps you regulate and regain control. Pausing for 90 seconds and connecting to your breath can help calm you down, emotionally regulate and help you self sooth. It’s been awhile- more than a minute. As I prepare to join others in sacred ceremony today out of state, I’m struck by the sheer volume of transformational change that has been in the air. The past few weeks of client sessions have been so deep and powerful. Everyone seems ready and ripe for stepping out, stepping in, and shedding old layers of stuckness. After my own recent journey to the amazing red rocks of Sedona and moving through (with the wonderful support of others) I, too, feel ready and ripe for where we are all going. Meditation is an advanced spiritual practice that can lead you to deep spiritual realization. AND it is a practice that can cause harm if you haven't been taught how to thaw the frozen energy of trauma in your body. 🌬️ Take a Deep Breath: Powerful Breathing Techniques to Combat Anxiety! In today’s fast-paced world, it’s not uncommon to experience moments of anxiety and stress. 🌬️1. Deep Belly Breathing: Close your eyes and place one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen. Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, allowing your belly to rise as you fill your lungs with air. Pause for a moment, then exhale slowly through your mouth, feeling your belly deflate. Repeat this technique for a few minutes, focusing on the sensation of your breath. 🌬️ 2. 4-7-8 Breathing: Sit in a relaxed position and bring your attention to your breath. Inhale deeply through your nose for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 7, and exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of 8. Repeat this cycle several times, allowing each breath to become slower and more rhythmic. 🌬️3. Alternate Nostril Breathing: Find a comfortable seat and place your left hand on your left knee. With your right hand, bring your index and middle fingers to rest on your forehead between your eyebrows. Close your right nostril with your right thumb and inhale deeply through your left nostril. You can learn tools to overcome your sensations of fear and anxiety using breathwork. I’m not saying it’s easy or that breathwork can cure any anxieties around certain situations, but it sure as hell can make a huge impact, and a positive one at that. As we become more stressed and move into the sympathetic state of our nervous system, we start breathing faster and more shallow, as we try to blow off the rising level of CO2 in our bloodstream. This build up of CO2 can trigger a sensation of air hunger, exacerbating the feelings of stress and discomfort, creating a vicious cycle. By learning to tolerate higher levels of air hunger, we can retrain the body to react differently to this build up of CO2, as we learn to remain calm during these periods. Breathwork can help us do this, and can enable you to experience those things you are too “fearful” to do. That fear is only a learned mechanism and can be unlearned. It can help us experience deeper and more restorative sleep, and it can increase our mindfulness in the present moment. ✨    There are more physical benefits of breathwork too, such as improved digestive support, immune response, and lung health. Focusing on your breath doesn’t have to be difficult — it can be as simple as listening to a short guided breathwork practice or noticing your inhale and exhale. 🌿    It is important to note that a breathwork or meditation practice may not be helpful to all, especially if you are feeling a heightened level of anxiety or panic. At times, breathwork can increase our panic response, so please tune in to what feels most comfortable and helpful to you. Happy Friday y’all! As I was getting ready to teach my vinyasa flow today, I was truly struggling trying to find the motivation. I feel like I’ve been running a million miles a minute the last couple of weeks, and quite frankly I woke up crabby and tired this morning. I tried to strength train the “crabbiness” away this morning by lifting the heaviest weights I could, but that didn’t work. Turns out I just needed to breathe. 😅 It still blows my mind how healing breath can be. How it can quite literally calm our nerves and quiet our mind. I’m so grateful for this practice of yoga day and in day out for helping ground me amongst the craziness. 🧊 Did I go all the way under? 🧊 I’m not a huge fan of the cold so I was happy to have a fleecy robe to get into afterwards. If you’re a winter swimmer this robe is for you.
