When we do not act on what we know God is calling us to do it leads to doubt and discouragement, but more importantly, it’s a form of disobedience. We will never fully be ready but we must be willing. Some people spend so much time getting ready to do what God wants but yet never acting upon what God wants us to do. We tend to overthink things and ask the question why instead we should ask why not? Why not gives us the ability to dream and the ability to have faith and to put that faith into action. We need to pray, for the will of God, but act on what he is leading us to do. We get so caught up in the fear of doing something wrong that we miss the opportunity to do something right. I once thought I needed a huge testimony in order to share my faith. I’d pray daily for God to give me a big testimony…. Be careful what you pray for. 😉 During my paralysis I’d beg for healing. I made empty promises that I’d tell everyone how He healed me. Fast forward twenty years and I barely speak about my accident, injury, and healing. Then I begged God for children. He delivered. And again I saw His hand over my life. But then how quickly I forgot what all God was doing. It’s easy to praise Him for the big things but what about those little day to day things? You know the mundane. The homework battles, never ending laundry, dirty dishes, cooking meals….He’s right there, too. He blesses us daily and we don’t even see it because we are looking for the big things. Today a friend prayed over me. I felt like she saw exactly what I needed at that moment. But yet we forget God sees us. He sees every moment of our day. Let’s stop waiting for the big things and start praising Him for the little things. He is worthy of our praise. He sees you. He is for you. He loves you! Yesterday, I posted about two family session model calls that I have coming up. One this week (ideally tomorrow, before the weather starts to turn) and then one next week. [PLUG: if you're interested, see the link in the bio!] In my opinion, and the reason I do a family photo session each year is that it captures our memories and our children at that point in time. If there's one thing I've noticed it's development from babies to goofy adolescents to more serious adolescents in both of my girls. And having those changes documented in photographs, gives all of us the opportunity to look back on and enjoy them year over year. BUT....there is a catch! This requires that you print your photos from each session. Whether that's in framed prints or canvases to hang on your walls or in beautiful keepsake albums, your photos will only be preserved memories if they are tangible and able to be held and viewed. That's why I focus not just on taking your photos, but on ensuring that you walk away with some sort of tangible memory that you and your family will cherish for years to come.
