Re-read via Audio 🎧 In anticipation of Kandi’s next release, Learn Your Lesson, I had to give this another read! Third time read actually, but this time on audio. And - Oh. My. God. Wesley Mercer’s voice. When it comes to audio I am a huge Joe Arden fan, but Wesley as Jaxson? WOW. Permanent smile etched on my face while his voice was talking oh so smoothly to me! I loved Miranda Dyer as Grace too. She has that young girlish voice that I imagine on Grace whilst also having that sultry sound when things kick up a notch. The storytelling from both narrators was fantastic, I felt every emotion from them. And - Duet narration! The absolute best way to listen to a book is duet narration, and I’m so happy to see more authors being able to do this. There’s no male voice reading female lines etc so you get a real feel for the story, and especially in romance it really helps in the spicy scenes! It’s a name and a path I’m quite familiar with. I’ve watched documentaries, shows, and movies about his murderous cross-country spree and also have a slight personal connection having been a student myself at Florida State University in Tallahassee, though years later. Much of the media coverage of this case glorifies the monster by focusing on his good looks and inflating his intellect. This book blends fact and fiction in an effort to prove that there’s truly nothing extraordinary about this man. He was strange, of average intelligence, and actually a little socially awkward at times, making women feel uncomfortable in his presence. The press would have you believe women were drawn to him but Knoll writes to break that misconception. I found myself pausing the audiobook to fact check certain details. Though the story is based on this man and his heinous acts, there’s a lot of fiction surrounding the victims and other characters. The mix between the two is interesting and well executed. Four narrators (Sutton Foster, Imani Jade Powers, Corey Brill, and Chris Henry Coffey) combine to deliver a gripping audiobook. If you’re into listening to books, this is a good one to download. Regardless of the format, I recommend this title to anyone intrigued by true crime and works of fiction on the topic. In 2019 I uncovered the true story of a forgotten Underground library, built along the tracks of a Tube tunnel during the Blitz. As stories go, it was irresistible and the result was, The Little Wartime Library, my seventh novel. ⭐️Book Review⭐️ Holly By: Stephen King Genre: Horror ⭐️3 🎧Audiobook🎧 📖Hardback📖 📗112/170 ☑️9/24/23 🔖September’s read for #GrimmReadersBookstaclub 💀King is my favorite author, but his recent works, like this one, left a lot to be desired. I don’t mind Holly as a character. I know I liked her more in the Mr. Mercedes trilogy and The Outsider. I don't remember the short story with her in If It Bleeds. At this point I think she's pretty played out. If he never brings her back again I'll be happy. The Covid Trump crap drove me nuts. I was listening to it at 3x speed so it felt like it was brought up every 5 minutes or less. King justifies his reasoning in the afterward. I appreciate that, but I still think it was too much for me as the reader regardless of her character. 🍎Personal Note: I realized I haven't posted in months. Work has been crazy with the new school year. I'm at a new fabulous school which has come with more work than ever. While I love it, it hasn't given me much time for bookstagram. I think things will calm down in November. Today is the release of the audiobook of Synced, the fourth and final installment of the Gilded Blood Series. I’ve been working on this series for over a year now! And wow, it’s been quite the journey with this first-person narrative — experiencing the language and really becoming Talia…feeling more released and comfortable with every passing book. Friends, this book is EVERYTHING a romance book should be! It made its way on my favourites shelf shortly after I've started it, and throughout the book I realised it was there to stay 💜 I'm eternally grateful to @corinnemichaels for writing this masterpiece. I honestly don't know how you did it, it's absolutely perfect! It's the kind of book you get a paperback copy of just to have it on your shelf. 💯👏🏻 Make sure you listen to the audio book because,... I have no words for the performance by @offmicandi and @webberesque. In my opinion it's Andi's best performance to date and that's saying a lot because she's always perfect. And well, Zach... Whenever a chapter started from his character's POV I just melted and swooned in all the feels.
