I am not a runner. I mostly teach yoga or practice yoga. I do run outside…Couple of times a week but it’s more like a jog. I don’t run at the gym. I don’t own a pair of decent running shoes. Week one of Runna training completed. I have been really struggling to get back into my long distance runs since my foot injury last October, partly because of being scared that my foot is going to roll again. Since completing physio I’ve been doing a lot of short distance runs. So I decided to give Runna a go to try and eliminate the fear and get me back into long distance running. My plan is to get me back to running half marathons by week 12. On today’s run I kept getting told I was going too fast and I actually found it really hard to balance the speed set. One minute I was too slow and the next I was going too fast! But I will stick to it if it’s going to help build on strength and running long distances again. Another year, another Ramadan swiftly passes by. All too swift (esp as I lost the last 4 days to being away). This one was such a special one for me, full of discovery and awe. All these years, I would compromise fasting so I could train, or stop training whilst fasting as I thought my body wouldn’t cope. #lupus This year, I stepped out and discovered I don’t need to compromise. Brighton Marathon 2024 2:36:19 3rd 🥉 Debut Marathon What a day 😍, honestly found it so hard to just choose 10 pictures/videos. I don't want this moment to stop 😂 I still can't believe I made the podium at the 3rd largest marathon in the UK 😂 Imposter syndrome in full swing. The support from all my family and friends cheering me on was just incredible. I needed it so badly in those last few miles, and there's noway I would have been able to keep pushing without it 🩷 I went off just under goal marathon pace and was sitting in 7th for a long time. Around 7miles in I started to try and reel in the runners I could see in the distance. Then at mile 22 I was sitting in 3rd, then lost 3rd at mile 24 and then got it back at mile 25. It was such a crazy battle when you have nothing left in the tank 😂 Running down that final straight knowing somehow I was going to come 3rd with all my friends and family there is something that I couldn't have even dreamt about. 🩷 There's so much I've learnt from that first marathon and ALOT more I can improve on. NYC in November.... Whilst some of the @western_tempo crew have been enjoying a warm weather training camp in Portugal, the rest of us continue to get the graft done here in the 🌧️ and 💨 of Blighty! We’re not jealous at all 🤥😂. To be fair, there have been moments of sunshine, but far too far apart! It’s been a long, wet winter 🌧️😩. Still, I’ve got some decent sessions done over the Easter break in Cheltenham (at the Prince if Wales) and on the Bissoe Trail in Cornwall (whilst we’ve been down with Granny and Gramps). It’s always good to have a good smash up on the trail and then catch up with Ricci (@saintpiran) at the @saintpirancafe over a coffee and cake 👍 Sadly, it’s been a bit TOO windy and wet for the open road at times so I’ve been confined to the turbo in the garage for quite a bit. It’s mum and dad! I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that I’m now able to do this. To join Brian in the place he loves most, moving in his favourite way. It fills my cup! On Sunday the sun shone and he supported me up my first running Devils Staircase. This sunday, I cannot wait to do the same for him as he embarks on his first 100k race. I’m probably more nervous than him, as supporting with a spaniel and a toddler is no joke.
