If you're like me, you ponder what's on a wine label, sometimes leading down some research rabbit hole (euphemism for wasting time online maybe). Typically though, a wine label, or name in this case, does not lead one to ponder one's existence, or at least ponder the Father of Existentialism. (For my friends reading this far...thank you...and no, I'm good and managing my packet of crises well enough). I got this a couple of months back in a most fortunate assortment of wines from Maitre de Chai. Coincidentally, I had their sparkling chenin blanc not during a crisis but during an emotionally packed day a month ago, now that I think of it. Anyway, seek their wines out through subscription, limited retail release, or next time you are in Berkeley. Any winery with a basketball hoop in their courtyard is already in the plus column with me. Plus, their wines are fantastic. So, did my unconscious mind stop me from opening this until it was in a better place? My mind, not the wine. Or did it just pair well with dinner? It was the dinner...spring vegetable stir fry with chicken and lots of ginger. I'll post it in my Stories. Сьогодні продовжимо тему і перейдемо до думки Платона та сучасні дослідження про вплив вина на здоров’я. 📖 З книги «Вино і філософія»: 🍷«Фактично зв’язок між вином і здоров’ям найкраще визначений філософською доктриною поміркованості… На думку Платона, поміркованість – одна з головних чотирьох чеснот, до решти належать справедливість, сміливість і мудрість… Поміркованість як чеснота протистоїть гріху ненажерливості, що полягає в надмірному споживанні харчів, напоїв, зокрема міцних напоїв і в надмірній любові до насолод. У «Божественній комедії» Данте Аліг’єрі ненажерливих карають у третьому колі раю і на шостій терасі чистилища, поміркованих винагороджено в сьомій сфері раю… 🍷Тож як саме філософська доктрина поміркованості визначає зв’язок між вином і здоров’ям? Відповідно до наведеної кривої, .. помірковані питці живуть довше і за непитущих, і за тяжких пияків, а непитущі живуть довше за тяжких пияків. Найнижчий рівень смертності характерний для рівня споживання від однієї до двох склянок за день…» ❗️При цьому «вплив вина на здоров’я слід відрізняти від загального впливу алкогольних напоїв, до яких належать не тільки вина, а й пиво і горілчані вироби. Вивчення сприятливого впливу на здоров’я ускладнене ще й фактом, що споживачам вина притаманна тенденція вести здоровіший спосіб життя (дієта, ставлення до куріння), мати кращу освіту і вищий соціально-економічний статус, ніж їхнім колегам, які жлуктять пиво і цмулять горілку. Іншими словами, факт, що існує пов’язаність між уживанням вина і зменшенням смертності від усіх причин, не доводить, що вживання вина є причиною нижчої смертності від усіх причин.
