This month we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary ❤️🌹🕊 During over 12 years we have been together, my husband Chris was with me through good and bad days with diabetes. He was there when I had diabetes burnout and started my blog, he helped me treat my hypos when I was not able to do so myself, he applied my infusion sets and sensors when I was feeling too anxious to do it...and many many more. He always supports me no matter what I do, which can be sometimes tricky with my neurodivergent baggage, but despite all the meltdowns, shutdowns and burnouts, he still manages to make me laugh, comfort me or just be patient enough (and I know it is not easy). People diagnosed with autism typically have a hard time understanding others emotions. However, tonight we saw Lennon try to comfort his brother who was crying after getting hurt. He went up to him, gently touched his back, and kissed his back. For reference, I’ve never seen Lennon kiss his brother and he did it so gingerly, I know he meant it as comfort. I love seeing these kind of things. They’re so huge, so important, and so heart-warming. Him showing empathy at all is not a small feat. Some of you might or might not know that I am autistic, I was diagnosed when I was a toddler. I didn’t really talk much as a toddler but one day I started to talk more. I did speech therapy in school until I was in seventh grade. I have overcome a lot of obstacles in my life, especially with God on my side. I know that God is putting the puzzle in my life together. I know that God has a plan for me in my life. Ephesians 2:10 says “We are God’s masterpiece.” I think that is a beautiful bible verse, especially for Autism Month. 🫶🏻 There are things that I love to do that help me during hard times. I love to talk to God and read my bible. I love to sing and play the guitar. I started during guitar lessons in the beginning of 2023. I really enjoyed them and I have an amazing teacher. I enjoy singing, it helps me with my anxiety also. I love to sing Christian and gospel songs. I know that nothing can stop me from doing what God wants me to do in life. I know that God has a plan for me and I know that God is always with me. 🫶🏻 Life with autism has its ups and downs and sometimes it’s not easy but I have God by my side and I know He won’t abandon me. 🫶🏻 I just want to let other autistic people know that they are not alone and that God will help us get through the hardest times. I also want to let other autistic people like me know that they are loved and they are not broken. Eesa has really started to enjoy going to the cinema - his concentration has improved as long as there are snacks throughout the movie - start to finish! Popcorn is a safe bet as it’s quite a big portion. @cineworld is always really accommodating and helpful. He actually had a solo trip with just him and his cousin. Eesa really enjoyed himself they watched his new favourite thing atm @godzillaxkong and he loved it and was able to recall some of the movie. The Climb The rolling hills of Northern Wales are breathtaking, and the ability of young foals to thrive in this most rugged of places is remarkable. These foals look tiny when compared to the gigantic mountains they are surrounded by, and a question that occupied a sizeable portion of my thoughts during the first couple of days in Wales was how to capture the scale of this in a single photograph. On Day 4, during my routine daily scout, I discovered a group of ponies high on a ridge in the distance. I unpacked my camera, attached my longest lens, and zoomed in on the herd - there were two tiny foals amongst the group, and I knew immediately that I had to pursue this opportunity. I ran across the heathland towards the mountain, but by the time I got there most of the herd had reached the top and had their heads down grazing, then I noticed a mare and foal were still at the bottom. If they followed their friends up the ridge then I had my shot, so I had a much-needed rest and bided my time. Sure enough, after a while, they began the ascent and I got into position. I got lucky, because the foal was slower than her mother, meaning I had an opportunity to photograph her on her own. What a remarkable thing to witness.

Anger Rumination - I’d never heard of this but I promise you it is a thing! I had no clue. Eesa has always found it very hard to let go or move past things that have happened. Failure, regret, a bad situation, a disagreement, something that didn’t go his way - anything that has made him upset or angry. Essentially he relives those moments and gets very very upset! Sometimes even more than the moment himself we have really struggled with this and still do. We are on the Cooper roller coaster today. One moment he’s happy and talking about the lovely day and how I’m the best mom ever. The next minute he’s yelling about how I’m terrible because I asked him to get dressed or pick up his trash. He begs me for activities everyday but today he didn’t want to do any activities I suggested. The temperature of his food at dinner was “too cold”, even though it was hot. He was too full on snacks to finish it so he spent a solid 15 minutes yelling about how he’s never going to eat the crap dinner I make ever again and it’s all my fault. Until 30 minutes later when he said he loves me and how he wants to spend time with me tomorrow. I never know what mood I’m going to get on days like today. #lifewithcooper #lifewithautism

Today wasn’t good day for this little man. He told his friend (our neighbours granddaughter who is spending easter holiday with them) that he is happy, than soon she will be home. They all jumped at him, telling him he is so rude and bad. He came back home with tears and without understanding whats happened, why they all called him rude. I couldnt stop my tears when I was explaining him how probably they understood him. I couldnt explain then nothing, because they said, that I’m looking for excuses to cover his bad behaviour. To see my child so devastated, totally broke my heart. Please, if your childs friend is #autistic and sometimes will say something inappropriate, dont #judge him! Try to explain him, why he shouldnt say that, why it was wrong, maybe ask, what he means by that? It’s not lack of education, it’s not parents neglect, but what’s the most important- it is not their fault!!! After that I tried to keep thoughts away from this situation and thanks that he made whole dinner on his own for whole family. But I know tomorrow he will see her again playing with other children and ignoring him and his heart will be broken again. 😢 #autism #autismmum #autismfamily #autyzm #lifewithautism #dontjudge

She’s been looked over and put on the back burner more times than I’d like to admit… My advice after trial and error… Don’t forget about your other children… don’t lean on them too heavy… realize that their lives are affected just as much as yours… set aside time just for them… they need you just as much as your special needs child…. This is a whole different kid then what y'all use too!! He's beyond smart, has gotten so vocal, even when he's not saying actual words.
