Today closed out my organized fitness events while living here on the island. I signed up since a couple of friends who have embraced the fitness lifestyle since moving here, invited me to join them on their first organized ride. I didn’t do the full 100k, but I’m pretty happy with making it 50k. This is similar distance to the first ride I ever did. I did it faster, stronger, and much more confident than that first ride all those years ago! I’ve gone so many miles on my own two feet, or the two wheels of my bike, or in the water since we moved here. I’ve made tons of friends. I’ve been inspired by all the super fit people who show up to all of these events! So it’s almost time to box up my bikes for the return journey over the water. Been taking everything a little slow lately, but I’ve stayed consistent and have been lifting about 4-6 days a week. It’s very hard for me to put on size, and I have ZERO appetite lately, but I’m ready to ramp up the calories for fall/winter. Currently sitting at 6’1” - 192 lbs. and I want to be well over 200. For me it can be very easy to shed fat quickly, so I’m going to fatten up a bit and get that much needed size. It felt INCREDIBLE to get outdoors and get in a good fresh air, workout on this beautiful Saturday! No weights. No heavy lifting. Just fresh air, a beautiful run and a dominate core workout! 1,125 total reps for the core using my abdominals, obliques, and transversus abdominis (AKA the deep part of the core)! . . . Totally gonna feel this the next few days 😂 Fun Fact 💡 about workouts outside: they improve your ability to regulate body temperature and helps the heart pump more blood to your muscles AND it reduces stress!! …. A “cut” is only for a measured amount of time established by your coach Other factors as to why these two sets of macros are so different The importance of N.E.A.T (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) Everyone’s lives are different so having a coach helps you determine what macros are right for you. They hatched! Aren't they precious!? Nine baby ducklings. Brings back memories of the one I received as a surprise gift so many years ago. I wonder how Darwin is doing... 4 rounds of sparring with @thomas__chabot, followed by some 1-on-1 training with @coach.pacha! 🔥🥊 The sparring was light and quick today, Thomas is appraoching his fight and peaking in his weight cut. When trying to build a healthier lifestyle, most women try to go from one extreme to another. Instead of trying be 100% perfect, can we start making slightly better choices? Instead of a bag of chips at 4 pm, can we have a handful with some fruit? Instead of a bar of chocolate, can we have a chocolate protein bar? Instead of a Starbucks coffee in the morning, can we have a protein smoothie? Instead of ordering in a greasy pizza (which is fine if you really want it), wouldn’t a pre-prepped homemade meal be a better choice? When you make healthier choices as convenient to you as possible, you are more likely to stick to it. When we get caught up in fear mongering around foods, we end up in a limbo making no progress! Nobody said it was going to be easy… I thought i’d share a transformation of my own today: the reason why is because I want to talk about the one thing that helped me consistently push and improve my physique year on year👇🏼 Foundations. Foundations come in different forms, from training, nutrition, knowledge, discipline or accountability No matter what you implement into your life you need solid foundations for them to actually work Theres no point me telling you to eat 6 meals a day if you’ve got no idea where to start To give yourself the best chance of improving your physique this summer and then in the future, year on year. You need to understand some key elements - How to stay on track of food and meal planning. - How to constantly look for ways to level up your intensity. - How to separate pointless nights out from quality time with good people - How to set goals and consistently move the goalposts as you improve Ive come to realise that these things aren’t really taught anywhere.
