A quote I loved from one of my favourite reads of 2024 so far ❤️ Psyche and Eros by @luna_mcnamara_writer was a beautiful retelling of the myth and Psyche's growth made me feel so proud of her! 👏🏻 It was also a little bittersweet because I think all girls have that loss of innocence at some point, when you realize that the world is not very kind to women. It was moving to see how Psyche started to question her beliefs but didn't lose her faith in herself. ➡️ Who was the last character you truly connected with? #psycheanderos #mythretelling #mythologyretelling #mythretellings #mythologicalnovels #mythologicalfantasy

"At last the day for our departure came. Our ship was a beauty, finer even than Odysseus' - sleek and slim as a knife point, meant to cut the sea. It rode low in the water, heavy with stores of food and supplies. And that was only the flagship. Beside it, forty-nine others, a city of wood, rolled gently in the waters of Pthia's harbor. Their bright prow-pieces were a bestiary of animals and nymphs and creatures half in between, and their masts stood as tall as the trees they had been. At the front of each of these ships, one of our new-minted captains stood at attention, saluting as we walked up the ramp to our vessel. Achilles went first, his purple cloak stirring in the breeze from the sea, then Phoinix, and me with a new cloak of my own, holding the old man's arm to steady his steps. The people cheered for us and our soldiers, filing onto their own ships. All around us final promises were shouted: of glory, of the gold that would be stripped and brought home from Priam's rich city. Peleus stood at the shore's edge, one hand raised in farewell. True to his word, Achilles had not told him of the prophecy, merely hugged him tightly, as if to soak the old man into his skin. I had embraced him too, those thin, wiry limbs. I thought, this is what Achilles will feel like when he is old. And then I remembered: he will never be old. The ship's boards were still sticky with new resin. We leaned over the railing to wave our last farewell, the sun-warm wood pressed against out bellies. The sailors heaved up the anchor, square and chalky with barnacles, and loosened the sails. Then they took their seats at the oars that fringed the boat like eyelashes, waiting for the count. The drums began to beat, and the oars lifted and fell, taking us to Troy." -Madeline Miller, The Song of Achilles Sarah gave this one to me to read and it's really good and well written! I remember Circe was really great too and enjoying that one even more, probably. 'मात्र राजा और राजधानी का सबल होना राज्य की सबलता नहीं मानी जाती। किसी का "राज" होने और किसी का "राज्य" होने में अंतर होता है।' ―रामराज्य, आशुतोष राना @ashutosh_ramnarayan . Published by @kautilya_books . . One of the most unique books I've read. This book is so beautiful and expressive and full of deep insights. It is told from the perspective of Ram, of course, Kaikeyi, Shurpnakha, Hanuman, Vibhishan, Kumbhkarn, Mandodari and Ravan: the perspective is so unique, powerful and refreshing! Every chapter is a story itself. . The writing style is engaging and conversational; language poetic and a bit complicated, yes, but it's beautiful and so expressive! . . #ramrajya #books #hindisahitya #ashutoshrana #hindibooks #ram #ramrajyabyashutoshrana #reading #mythology #mythologicalfiction #mythologicalnovels #booksofinstagram #bookstagram

The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni It is a mythological retelling of the great Indian epic, Mahabharat. Those who know it might understand, the story which we have been told about since childhood, the story we've read and watched countless times, all from the pov of a man. As it has always been about men and their glory. Have you ever wondered what it'll be like from POV of the main female protagonist of this story? The author has beautifully written the tale from Draupadi's perspective , the main female protagonist of the story, proving the possibility of many sides to a story. Totally loving the author's choice of words. She beautifully portays the various sides of Draupadi. She is fierce, passionate, brave, rebellious driven by love and vengeance. A victim of consequences of actions taken by the men in her life. Signing off quoting the powerful words of Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, "wait for a man to avenge your honour, and you'll wait forever." This is the first book of the Ram Chandra series. There is no better way to experience Rama's life than by reading this book. It is a retelling of the epic Ramayana and the story from the viewpoint of Ram. A little tip: To enjoy the novel fully the story needs to be seen without the comparison with the real epic. To all mythology lovers what are you waiting for, grab your book and do let me know if you have already read it🧡🌼 Book- Ram (book1 of Ram Chandra series) Rating - 4/5 Author- Amish @authoramish #mythology #love #bookstagram #books #booklover #ratings #myth #ram #ayodhya #ramayana #retelling #amish #authoramish #authors #reading #read #novels #mythologicalnovels #indianmythology #india #indianauthors #love #bliss #happiness #stayhappy #keepreading

Ramayana – Unravelled by M.D. Mundhra is a beautifully written and well-researched book. Though the book is directly emanating from the epic saga of Ramayana – this time it has something more to offer than just the retelling of the Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana and allied kingdoms. The book is about logic and lessons that one can grasp from the Ramayana to use in personal and professional life. It is a complete story, however with some different pretexts, and on the context of religion, humanity, karma, and much more. The author is a highly-acclaimed educated person, known for using lessons from Ramayana in his professional and personal life to solve many issues, while at the same time also inspired mass to opt for the path of righteousness. This book is way great than any other plain and black & white representation – it is full of lines, sketches, and diagrams coupled with lucid narration. Those who have read Ramayana during their school or college life or personally will conform by the value of the content, and those who have not yet got a chance to get introduced will find it a great piece of mythological literature. The book is well laid out with proper 29 chapters. Right since the beginning, the author did a great job by outlining the character list from both the camps. This act fosters the reading and avoids confusion. Well, the core theme of the book is to nudge the implementation of logic and lessons from Ramayana to one’s life. The book talks about Ram Rajya – a golden age. If you read it slowly and properly, you will get to know why that era was called a golden era. The world since then has been bereaved of many moral values. The author asserts if Ramayana concepts and lessons brought forward, well then it’s possible for our nation to establish ‘Ram Rajya’ once again and it can lead the world with proper light and love. From home conspiracies to Rama’s journey in the forest to Hanuman in Lanka – all has been wrapped up nicely. #bookstagramindia #ramayana #retelling #mythologicalnovels #indianmythology #bookreview #booksonindia #bookclubsofinstagram #readingforfun #readingisfun

RAAVANPUTR MEGHNAD: The Prince of Lanka Writer :  Kevin Missal Published :  2019 Genre : Mythological Fiction Rating : 1/5 ⭐ The story starts with our main character earning his name Indrajit by defeating the Lord Indra. Meghnad is a strong warrior with an interest in science. While on the other side we get Laxman's perspective as the Sita maa gets kidnapped by Raavan and the two brothers set out in a journey to take her back. ⏺️Things I didn't like: ➡️ Anyone could know the secret which Parmeela had if they conversed to Sita maa or did some research. The story which book blur said it will be wasn’t executed well. ➡️And the three-day love story of Prameela and Meghnad was the root cause of my disappointment form the modern-day author. I just can't say how disturbing and terrible it was for me. ➡️The main reason which droves our antagonist in the novel was a “misunderstanding”. Which again would be solved skillfully if they had talked it out early. As our Protagonist and antagonist are so close. It one's creative choose but the book has a lot of slag language which murdered the vibes of a mythological story for me. ⏺️Good stuff ➡️The plot. I felt the foundation of the conflict in book was week but the story has many twist and turns which keeps you engage. If you don't mind others things (For me romance! Never mind. You will enjoy it as I did in beginning.) ➡️Ram Sita's perceptive form Laxman's point of view. Which gave the story fresh take and new relationship dynamics. ➡️Surpanakha. I love her thorough out the book ( I was disappointed at a point.) She was well done with her witty ideas. I had such a high expectation from his book (As a romance mythological novel) and it came out flat. But I do need to say I love Kevin’s antagonist; in both books Kalki and Meghnad.   . . . #kevinmissal #ravanputrameghnad #mythologicalnovels #indiannovels #bookstagrammer #bookphotography #tuesdaythoughts #reader #booklover #cozytuesday #readingmotivation

Book: Krishna's sister Author: Priyanka Bhuyan Q: Which is your favourite genre?🌸 A : Mythology is one of my favourite genres. The book 'Krishna's sister' is an entrancing Indian epic retold from the perspective of Subhadra who is a sister of Lord Vishnu's incarnation Krishna. The story starts with the discourse of five pandavas. They discuss about the political alliance with Dwaraka. The story transposes to Dwaraka. Subhadra's character description is conspicuos and venturesome. She is a valiant woman who desires to choose her husband but deep inside her heart she is in love with one of the five Pandavas Arjun. The story retracts her misery when she comes to know about Arjuna's marriage with Draupadi. Readers will get glued to the pages to know what happens in Subhadra's life and how she manages to marry Arjun. I loved the author's narration and character description, though we might have heard Mahabharata from various perspectives, this book still shimmers in its character description and narration. Most importantly I was attracted towards Subhadra's thoughts in the story. She opposes the political game of kings through polygamy and her love for Arjun is transcendant. Author's creativity lies in the contemplation of Subhadra. She contemplates about her marriage with Arjuna and she loathes the cousins rivalry. You might have heard Mahabharata through different narrations, nevertheless Priyanka Bhuyan's 'Krishna's sister' is unique! #indiannovels #indianauthor #indianauthors #bookreviewerandpromoter #bookauthors #mythologicalcreatures #indianmythology #mythologicalnovels #booksbooksbooks #bookblogger #bookloversofinstagram #readersandreviewers #bookpromo #bookpromotion

#qotd What's your favorite genre? 🤔 Book Review - The Immortals of Meluha Author - Amish Tripathi @authoramish Genre - Mythological Fiction Rating - 4/5⭐ 💥 1900 BC. In what modern Indians mistakenly call the Indus Valley Civilisation. The inhabitants of that period called it the land of Meluha – a near perfect empire created many centuries earlier by Lord Ram, one of the greatest monarchs that ever lived. This once proud empire and its Suryavanshi rulers face severe perils as its primary river, the revered Saraswati, is slowly drying to extinction. They also face devastating terrorist attacks from the east, the land of the Chandravanshis. To make matters worse, the Chandravanshis appear to have allied with the Nagas, an ostracised and sinister race of deformed humans with astonishing martial skills. The only hope for the Suryavanshis is an ancient legend: ‘When evil reaches epic proportions, when all seems lost, when it appears that your enemies have triumphed, a hero will emerge.’ Is the rough-hewn Tibetan immigrant Shiva, really that hero? And does he want to be that hero at all? Drawn suddenly to his destiny, by duty as well as by love, will Shiva lead the Suryavanshi vengeance and destroy evil? This is the first book in a trilogy on Shiva, the simple man whose karma re-cast him as our Mahadev, the God of Gods. 💥 "For full review click on the link in the bio." 💥 Follow @bookscharming for book reviews, promotion, blitz, cover reveal, book tours, author interviews, and guest post.
