After 9 years of having a Writers Facebook page my views are finally growing! I got over 66,600 views on one reel and 52,000 views on another in the space of a couple of days. Now at 33,000 FOLLOWERS! It's been growing since January 12th this year 2024 and I had 4,300 followers then. So SHOCKING as for years on my personal Facebook people NEVER liked my posts, never commented or said Happy Birthday. It was truly dehumanising and a form of digital BULLYING. These people did it deliberately to hurt me and block my progress. For the first 7 years of having a public Writers Facebook page I barely got x1 like per post. It only grew a bit in Autumn 2022 when I could occasionally get over 5 likes per post then in Summer 2023 after 8 years of posting I finally got over 50 likes for a post. The damaging effects of human envy and isolation are very real and debilitating. It STEALS a person's opportunity for success and a chance to live life. I have been IGNORED for too long. It also made me feel suicidal and I guess that's the greatest achievement of all those people in high school who always ignored my social media posts. You made me feel suicidal and even though you are bad people you still have more love in your life, friends and a family (all the things I can't have) but at least I am not rotten to the core like all of you. And yes you clearly got away with making me feel suicidal so call it a Victory if you want. Woke up this morning to check the time 555. Normally I’ve been seeing this number in the evening yet here it is. These Angel numbers are confirming for me what I’ve been feeling too. “Change is constant and an opportunity for growth” in my eyes. Been slacking in my training yet I’ve reached my goals in the past and I know I can in the present and the future. The Honolulu marathon and the Kauai half marathon along with working out at the gym. One thing that won’t change is my focus on self love and self care. Surrounding myself with people who I can grow and glow with. Like minded people who may see me at my worst yet know how to bring out the best in me. This season, this year feels so different that it feels so right🥰💯🙏😊💕✨ The focus won’t be the determination to get to my destination it will be embracing the opportunities and the learnings along the journey. There's still so much to share about Fairisle but I just wanted to share this last bit with you for now. The last leg of the journey getting there was a 25 minute flight from Shetland. I know we've both mentioned it and it may seem that I was joking about being terrified but I truly was. I was frozen, had to remind myself to breathe and could not move my head to look out of the window. I really don't like heights. Someone asked recently if I hadn't realised I would have to do this, but it was me that booked it! I knew I had to push myself out of my comfort zone a bit this year. First the talk at Toasted then this trip. But I hadn't realised how genuine the fear would feel!! So, I've had eleven days to really work on my thinking, in order to get back on the plane. I think I spent the first three wondering how else I could get home and then three more thinking of all the worse case scenarios... But I knew I needed to address it (or stay on Fairisle). I've been doodling and writing about my experience and then adding in some positive thoughts, doing relaxation and meditation, singing 'don't worry about a thing', watching the birds swoop and sweep through the skies and imagining that freedom.. I can honestly say that although I couldn't quite manage breakfast, I got on the plane with a smile and I took videos and looked out of both windows. I even allowed myself to enjoy a moment here and there. I had a couple of wobbles when the plane bounced a bit and when we banked to the left to reach the landing strip but I have to say I'm proper pleased with myself. The prophet Isaiah declared, “But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint” (Isa. 40:31 CSB). Instead of strength that runs out, we can have strength that renews. Strength that defies weariness and fainting even after great exertion. This sounds amazing, but let’s be real. Most of us have much more experience with strength that runs out than we do with strength that endures and renews. I’m currently in a season of emotional healing, and sometimes it is deeply exhausting. That is normal, yet I also believe God’s strength is enough for even those weakest, weariest places. So I’ve been asking God, “How do I connect with your renewable strength? YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS! In the past having a drink to deal with pain, stress, or anxiety was just that easy fix that gave you that brief relief. But the problem is it just delayed it for you and actually amplified it. This is the danger with using alcohol to cope with that. It makes it worse and so you need another drink the next day, and then a more drinks, and then stronger drinks. It's like a downward spiral until your hooked and you can easily fall prey to it's trap. Using alcohol to numb pain or stress for me was such an easy way to handle it. But I found myself in the middle of the day thinking about when I could get home and get that first drink to relax. That wasn't freedom, it was prison. Today I'm in a better place, now after a stressful day I'm thinking about how good it will feel to hit the bench press at the gym after work, or taking a walk with my music playing. Thinking about things I can do with the family this summer like hiking, camping, and traveling. So we all know it's easier to just run from the pain or stress, numb it with a drink. But we WON'T do that. No, because we are stronger than that and we can do hard things! 💪 It's the most empowering feeling to be able to overcome it in a healthy productive way. So if you're still using alcohol to cope with the pain and stress, consider the alcohol free method, because you too can do hard things and feel so-ber good!
