Dinner: what's in your plate? 😁 Something I'm learning on this new chapter of my training is that while it is, of course, about what you eat, it's more so about a balance of eating. It doesn't need to be chicken, rice, and broccoli every day for every meal. Get creative. Use spices to add depth of flavors. Follow your macros, which I've found is the most important step. Prioritize your protein. Eating healthy DOESN'T mean eating boring. Remove as much of the ultra processed crap from the house that you can, but leave my legendary chips alone, gotdammit. 🤣🤣 This is my biggest weakness, though. All the crap foods in the world. Love fast food. Convenient as fffooook. And cereal.. bro, I love me some cereal for a veggie bed snack... But if it isn't in the house, I won't eat it. Learn your weaknesses. The other thing I'm slowly remembering is not to be so hard on myself when I have a shit day with my diet. No one is perfect, and we can't expect ourselves to be exact every single day. So don't be so hard on yourself, cupcake. It'll be ok, I promise. 😉😉 Speaking of tracking, what app do you use? I was using my fitness pal, but honestly, I wanted something that would allow me to scan bar codes without paying an arm and a leg. Ok, so a little about me. Those who know me know that I've struggled with my weight and the way I look for.. well.. a really long time. I've gone up and down with it, I've been in really great spots only to let it all slip away and get to really bad spots. Been in and out of the gym for almost 20 years. I now have a stable financial life and a loving wife that's decided to help me, and herself, in being our best, healthiest, selves; mentally and physically. We have an AWESOME coach who is able to fully relate to us, and who pushes us to new and do the best we can, and we really truly appreciate everything that @tayytrain has done with us since the start of the year, and continues to help us with on a daily basis with keeping us motivated, dedicated, and keeping us on track when we falter. Do I have bad days still? Absolutely. Do I know I can do better the next day? Absolutely. Do I get called out on my bullshit? Mmm..... Maybe not as often as I should be, but I love that my partner and Coach push me the way they do, and I hope that you follow asking with this chapter of my life with Beth. The progress seen in these photos is small, but it's there, and it's only been a few months, with only a few days a week in the gym. Are you doing too much “JUNK VOLUME”? Junk volume refers to excess/unnecessary training volume that isn’t contributing to your gains. (Training volume = how much work you’re doing) I remember when I first started training (a good 7 years ago 😬), I would do like 20 reps on 30 different sets in 1 session!! Then I wondered why I wasn’t growing… I can blame instagram influencer bs for that though 🤧 More doesn’t always equal better, the amount of fatigue you’re accumulating during your training shouldn’t outweigh the stimulus you’re placing on your muscles. Read that again Your fatigue to stimulus ratio is IMPORTANT ‼️ Strength training isn’t about doing as much as possible. It’s about how you do it, and being able to recover properly from what you are doing. Most people probably don’t need to do 4 sets on 6 exercises every training day… especially if you’ve only been lifting for 6 months Ditch the junk volume, follow a structured program, train hard AND smart 💜

Yesterday's workout Very effective, though kind of LONG 💀 , you could do this superset workout with less frequency than other workouts. 🌟 KEY POINTS: ✨️ REVERSE PYRAMID SETS: So, heaviest set first, then as you progress declining in weight. ✨️Match your strength to your weight so that you achieve 10-12 reps without veing able to do anymore (ie. Sometimes, I look back on my life and wonder where I would've ended up having made different choices. If not already, then certainly on the path to early retirement. I'd probably have been a mother (to human babies). I'd quite likely have already become a broker, or I would've been a professional property renovator. The artist in me can't help but constantly reflect on what was, what could've been, what is, and what will be. Life is such a journey, and on each path, we can only do the best with what we have at the time. In each present moment, we can only learn from the past. I don't regret (most 🤪) of my decisions. Throughout the journey, I have been learning how to be all of me. I'm still learning how to be all of me. I am still learning how to let people see all of my parts. I'm still learning how to build my body. I'm still learning what feels good and what doesn't. I'm still learning what and who is real and what and who isn't. I'm still learning how to let love in. I'm still learning what love is. I think I am always going to be learning, and right now, I don't have a defined plan and I don't know exactly where I am going but I have complete trust that I will be exactly where I need to be in every moment. I trust that I am making my decisions from a heart centred place, and I trust that my own love floods every single step, and I don't know what is more perfect than that 🤍🖤

What’s the point of looking good if your body feels like crap? I know I know… it’s to look good, but is it worth it? Especially when you can literally have both form (looking good) and function (feeling/moving good). By no means am I saying you should never train for appearance. If that’s an important goal for you, that’s absolutely okay. I understand you want to feel confident in your body and look good, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m just saying that you should also consider incorporating other forms of training (like mobility) to improve your movement quality and joint health so that you can also FEEL and MOVE better. When I was in my 20s I only prioritized training for appearance and I neglected my mobility, as a result my body broke down rapidly, which ironically hindered my ability to train for appearance because I was always dealing with chronic pain and injuries. I totally understand and respect that people have different goals when it comes to their training. I just want to remind you that you can utilize mobility training to help you pursue those goals with greater ability and longevity, while also living with less limitations and greater quality of life. You don’t have to just pick one form of training. I personally do around 3 weight lifting sessions a week and 3 mobility sessions a week. In practice. The Essentialist Framework I begin with when designing my training. It is effective because it is clear, measurable and sustainable. But it also comes with another benefit. It gives you plenty of freedom and time outside of the gym due to its lower training frequency. Time to train in other areas of your life. Take up new challenges or interesting hobbies.
