✨BOOK REVIEW✨ Court of the Undying Seasons by A. M. Strickland 3 ⭐️/5 Might Could’ve Been Better REVIEW: Court of the Undying Seasons definitely had some of my favorite things…Vampires, of course, and classes/lessons on becoming a Vampire. And I loved that the Vampire houses were based on seasons. Kashire was my favorite character, and I liked him more than both of the main characters of Fin and Gavron. Fin starts the story hating all vampires, and wants to kill as many as possible, so she sees her entrance into their world as an opportunity to learn more about them, so she can use it against them. But her views change throughout the book, when she begins to see that they are not much different from the way humans behave…some are good, some are bad. I did not like that Fin and Gavron, as the two main love interests in the book, spent so much time apart. It really kept me from feeling very invested in their relationship. And the main villain in the story isn’t presented until around the last 80 pages of the book, and by that time, I didn’t really much care for his villainous plan. I think the story line would have been better if this vampire had been introduced from the beginning as an adversary, rather than Fin running around trying to solve a murder mystery for 3/4 of the book. ❤️📚

I always think hers are going to be thrillers, but they are more dramas with a little suspense. Cassie’s baby is missing. Her friend Bailey is in the apartment below and can overhear everything going on. She’s concerned. But, wait. She has the baby. Why? What happened? Why are they close friends anymore? This was good. I read part of it and listened to the audio for part. I enjoyed the audio part more. A little predictable, but most books are these days. 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #whatimreading #bookreview #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #librarybook #booksmakeeverythingbetter

There is a certain lighthearted quality that books by @katherinecenter possess… yet as you get into them there are some deeper messages the characters convey. In Hello Stranger our main character, Sadie, develops face blindness after having brain surgery. What follows is a comedy of errors that leads to great self discovery and love. ♥️ What I really liked about this book was the anticipation that kept building with the love story between Sadie and a certain someone. 😉 It was the type of thing that kept me up reading too late to figure out how it all would end. Thank you, Katherine Center, for another quick, fun, and informative read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #romanticfiction #bookstagram #katherinecenter #fiction #fictionbooks #reading #reader #books #lovetoread #goodreads #goodreadschallenge #libbyapp #librarybook #bookstagrammer

No One Saw A Thing - Andrea Mara 🚇 Two children get on the train. Only one gets off... No one saw it happen. Your two little girls jump on the train ahead of you. As you try to join them, the doors slide shut and the train moves away, leaving you behind. Everyone is lying. It’s only when you reach the next stop that you truly begin to panic. Because there aren’t two children waiting for you on the platform. There’s only one. Someone is to blame. Has your other daughter got lost? Been taken by a passing stranger? Or perhaps the culprit is closer to home than you think… My thoughts: If you have kids I don’t think this book is for you 😬 my stress levels throughout this book were 📈 There were a few little plot twists dotted about which I appreciated but also I just found it really hard to like any of the characters (although I suppose the point is to be suspicious of everyone) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #noonesawathing #andreamara #bookreview #bookstagram #bookrecommendation #booklover #crimebook #librarybook #booksoninstagram #bookcommunity

This was such a cute YA book! This one was recommended by @kelsey_keeps_reading because she mentioned it would be for fans of to all the boys I've loved before and I agree! It also reminded me a lot of 10 blind dates by Ashley Elston! So if you like those two books, you'll enjoy this one! I also loved that this one was set in Central Florida! There were so many references. I will say the story was a tad longer than needed, but it was still super cute and definitely recommend if you want a cute YA! #library #librarybook #yabooks #bookish #brookereviewsbooks #goodbooks

𝘋𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘶𝘺𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘥𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨? I’ve been thinking a lot about change lately and wrapping my brain around the fact that change requires us to get comfortable with being uncomfortable… then this book comes along. If you don’t think the universe is talking to us, think again!⁣ ⁣ Part social examination, part adventure memoir, the approach the author took was interesting but not what I was expecting. Sandwiched between the recounting of a hunting trip, thoughts on diet, physical exercise, mental toughness, and more, even the benefit of thinking about your death everyday, are examined. As an animal lover, I could have done without the hunting part. I’m not anti-hunting, as long as it’s done responsibly and respectfully, it’s just not something I’m interested in and, for me, it took away from my fully engaging with all the concepts discussed.⁣ ⁣ 𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘱... Fourth Wing - Rebecca Yarros - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5! . Another book from my 12 recommendations for 2024 (big thanks @abbiemcoombs) and what a STORM this book is! I’ve obviously seen all the hype around this book and Iron Flame but never took too much interest but damn, I fully get it. I loved this so much, including all the twists and turns and the ROLLERCOASTER of emotions in the last 150 pages or so. Just wow! 🎧Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera🎧 🎙️Summary🎙️ Everyone thinks Lucy murdered her best friend. Even Lucy. Or does she? She can’t remember either way. Her mind is completely blank between attending a wedding and being found walking on the side of the road later that evening covered in her friend Savvy’s blood. The following days result in Lucy’s complete mental breakdown, dissolution of her marriage, and her fleeing the skepticism of an entire town that thinks she is to blame for a murder that technically remains unsolved. Lucy attempts a fresh start in LA, but when host Ben Owens starts investigating Savvy’s death for his popular true-crime podcast, Lucy can no longer hide from truth of that night- and what she may, or may not, remember. 🎙️Thoughts🎙️ Sometimes a book you have been seeing everywhere doesn’t live up to the hype. This is not one of those times! First off, this book is so unexpectedly hilarious. Between Lucy’s sarcastic dark humor and her no-nonsense grandmother, I found myself laughing more than I ever thought possible reading a murder mystery. The true-crime podcast element is done really well, with the reader feeling like they are listening to the interviews in real time and trying to work out who the murderer is, or isn’t. Avoid spoilers, the short chapters will have you quickly racing through this one to an ending I did not see coming. This was April’s pick for @itsjustanotherbookclub , and it was so much fun to talk about! I read a physical copy, but I have audiobook envy because I keep hearing that it’s absolutely fantastic. Read for: 🎧 A modern take on a classic whodunit 🎧 An unreliable narrator with amnesia and a dark sense of humor 🎧 A lovable & sassy grandma who tells it like it is 🎧 If Only Murders in the Building took place in a small Texas town Favorite Quote- “Shut up, I tell the voice calmly. It can’t be a good sign that I’ve started talking back to it again.” #bookstagram #bookreview #read #bookrecs #professionalbookworm #librarianrecommends #librarybook #checkoutyourlibrary #suspensereads #thrillerbooks #murdermystery #truecrimepodcast #amytintera #listenforthelie #bookclub #swiftie #gmabookclub #celadonbooks

I first came across Carl Nixon listening to a reading of his book Rockinghorse Road on RNZ. I was like, what? That's just around the corner! I got it from the library and loved it. Even now in my sixties, I find myself surprised at local books set in places I know intimately, having grown up with northern hemisphere books where birds fly south when it's cold 😮 huh? and Christmas is in winter 🙃 etc. Since then I have read The Talley Stick, set on the West Coast, (my childhood home), and now this one 🙂 The Waters, Carl Nixon, (2023) Vintage We are back in South New Brighton. Pat Waters has sold the family tomato farm on the peninsula, and bought land for a property development. While that gets going he buys a cheap, broken house for the family to live in. He likes the drink a lot but he's violent when he's drunk. The lives of the children is told from the perspectives of the three children over a forty years period, so we meet them as kids and as adults. We are present at Samantha's wedding, we see Mark through various relationships, we follow Davey as he drifts through life. It's very much a story of child abuse, depression, and the ongoing effects of that background throughout life, and into the next generation. Carl Nixon is a good, straightforward writer, not given to flamboyance or drama, yet the emotions, fears, anxieties and dilemmas are clear to see. #carlnixon #thewaters #thewaterscarlnixon #librarybook #booksoninstagram

✨Book Review✨ Legendary by Stephanie Garber ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Okay, so while I thoroughly enjoy this series and the world that Stephanie Garber created, this one was a little bit it a let down. First off - if you follow my reviews at all, you know I’m a HUGE fan of The Once Upon a Broken Heart series. I know that comes after the Caraval series, but I read it first. I actually was nervous to read Caraval, like would it be just as good? And while I did very much enjoyed Caraval, Legendary fell a little flat for me. Caraval had so many layers and kept leaving little crumbs to figure things out, which kept me really engaged however I felt like most of this was Tella just going back and forth between who you trust and nothing really led to new clues until close to the end and even then it was like exactly what she thought - it lacked the element of surprise. I didn’t feel the same excitement as I did with the first. I did really enjoy the introduction of Jacks though! I knew he was part of this series but I didn’t realize he’d have such a big part in it. That said, I still recommend this series and have high hopes for Finale! ✨Do you prefer series of standalones? #bookstagram #bookreview #yabooks #yafantasy #caraval #legendary #stephaniegarber #librarybook #bookstack #trilogy #bookaddict #books

Starry Messenger: Cosmic Perspectives on Civilization by Neil deGrasse Tyson Honestly, I mostly picked this #audiobook just to listen to Neil deGrasse Tyson's voice. I feel like when he talks, I listen and instantly become smarter. 😆 All joking aside, this was interesting, and I learned a few things along the way. Book description: In a time when our political and cultural views feel more polarized than ever, Tyson provides a much-needed antidote to so much of what divides us, while making a passionate case for the twin chariots of enlightenment—a cosmic perspective and the rationality of science. After thinking deeply about how science sees the world and about Earth as a planet, the human brain has the capacity to reset and recalibrates life’s priorities, shaping the actions we might take in response. No outlook on culture, society, or civilization remains untouched. With crystalline prose, Starry Messenger walks us through the scientific palette that sees and paints the world differently. From insights on resolving global conflict to reminders of how precious it is to be alive, Tyson reveals, with warmth and eloquence, an array of brilliant and beautiful truths that apply to us all, informed and enlightened by knowledge of our place in the universe. #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #book #books #booksbooksbooks #booklover #booknerd #bookworm #librarybook #librarybooks #libbyapp #read #reading #reader #readersofinstagram #ilovereading #readingisfun #booksaremylife #ilovebooks #booksmakemehappy #booksarethebest #neildegrassetyson #bookrecommendations

📖 Book Review 338 📖 This book was so good! The way he was with her made my heart just melt but also seeing his thought process made my heart hurt. After reading “Bride” I have been looking for another werewolf story as it dragged me back into my werewolf era and let me tell you, this did not disappoint. There was a certain character that I would love to hurt, so the ending made me happy. I did not want this book to end. Both of them made me so happy! Rating: 4.5/5 ✨ Blurb ✨ Mackenzie Carter has had some very bad dates lately. Model train experts, mansplainers, guys weirdly obsessed with her tail—she hasn’t had a successful date in months. Only a year out of residency, her grandmother’s obsession with Mackenzie finding the perfect mate to settle down with threatens to drive Mackenzie barking mad. Out of options, it feels like a small thing to tell her grandmother that she’s met someone. That is, until she blurts out the name of the first man she sees and the last man she would ever date: Noah Taylor, the big bad wolf of Denver General. Noah Taylor, interventional cardiologist and all around grump, has spent his entire life hiding what he is. With outdated stigmas surrounding unmated alphas that have people wondering if they still howl at the moon, Noah has been careful to keep his designation under wraps. It’s worked for years, until an anonymous tip has everything coming to light. Noah is left with two options: come clean to the board and risk his career—or find himself a mate. The chatty, overly friendly ER doctor asking him to be her fake boyfriend on the same day he’s called to meet the board has to be kismet, right? Mackenzie will keep her grandmother off her back, and Noah will get a chance to prove he can continue to work without a real mate—a mutually beneficial business transaction, they both rationalize. But when the fake-mate act turns into a very real friends-with-benefits arrangement, lines start to blur, and they quickly realize love is a whole different kind of animal.

The Tea Dragon Festival & The Tea Dragon Tapestry ✨✨✨✨✨🏳️‍🌈 X2 I keep reading series back to back before posting and reviews and it seems excessive to post five individual reviews in a day 😂 ANYWAYS I literally love this series. The coziest and most adorable graphic novels. My (almost 4 year old) son was sitting next to me and looking at the pictures while I was reading and it made me want to buy all three just to have on hand for him and my daughter. There were a few moments that made me emotional. I don't know what it is about these that make me emotional, but I did take a couple pictures of some of the pages that hit me the most. I'm very attached to these characters even though the series is short and I low-key want to make it my entire personality 😂 I am planning on getting these and reading them together with my kids when they're a little older 😍 #devilsivyandpaperbacksfivevibe #devilsivyandpaperbacksfivestar #bookstagramreview #bookstagramreviews #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookcommunity #readmorebooks #readmorelibrarybooks #readmore #librarybook #librarybooks #readercommunity #readingcommunity #theteadragonsociety #graphicnovel

Dolls of Our Lives: Why We Can’t Quit American Girl by Mary Mahoney and Allison Horrocks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Listening to this book was like sitting in the backyard with my bff Lindsey @ldshusky in summers 1994-1997-ish. This is almost literally the book of my childhood and early teens. Not only is this book all about the entirety of American Girl: books, dolls, accessories, library, stores, outfits, magazine, intent, purpose, history, founder, etc. It appropriately (dare I say, even necessarily) includes a lot of the non-AG pop-culture references of my growing up. It’s been ages since I read any AG books. I collected the lot from my parents’ house after I and my two sisters, among whose bedrooms all the books had been scattered, all eventually moved out to our own places. They are currently in a box in my basement, but I believe will soon be making their way to the lit-up and lived-in parts of my house. I do appreciate the authors’ perspective not only on the impact of these books and all related elements on their childhood, but also the lens they are viewing them through now as adults, with their addition of their professions as historians. Is slavery appropriately addressed in Addy’s world? Are there queer readings we can more easily pull out of these stories in today’s social climate? Is the class system Samantha was part of realistically represented? I don’t have a professional historical angle (just an age-related one, apparently) but I imagine re-reading as an adult myself will have me seeing the stories, plots, and characters a little differently, too. [more anecdotes in the comments] • #📚 #readallthebooks  #bookreview  #audiobook  #bookstagram  #booklove  #readinglife  #bibliophile  #booklover  #librarybook  #bookworm  #booksofinstagram  #readingtime  #readersofinstagram  #reading #americangirldoll #americangirlbooks #AGdolls 📖

Book Review- Elodie's Library of Second Chances by @rebeccaraisinwrites2. I got through this book very quickly as I had a really rough night, so was reading it in the small hours this morning. I found this book quite emotional, all the different characters and their back stories. The young boy Alfie's story made me left most emotional as some bits made me think of my own little boy. The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians by James Patterson This was nothing more than a fun, quick read about my favorite things... books, bookstores, and libraries! Have I ever mentioned I worked in a public library at the Circulation Desk? I'd probably still be there if we hadn't moved out of state. One of the best parts of working the Circulation Desk was helping and talking to all our wonderful patrons! Book description: Booksellers and librarians are superheroes, saving lives every single day. Here are their amazing, inspiring true stories as told to the greatest storyteller of our time, James Patterson. To be a bookseller or librarian…   You have to play detective.    Be a treasure hunter. A matchmaker. An advocate. A visionary.    A person who creates “book joy” by pulling a book from a shelf, handing it to someone and saying, “You’ve got to read this. You’re going to love it.”   Step inside  The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians  and enter a world where you can feed your curiosities, discover new voices, find whatever you want or require. This place has the magic of rainbows and unicorns, but it's also a business. The book business.     Meet the smart and talented people who live between the pages—and who can’t wait to help you find your next favorite book.  #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #book #books #booksbooksbooks #booklover #booknerd #bookworm #librarybook #librarybooks #read #reading #reader #readersofinstagram #ilovereading #readingisfun #booksaremylife #ilovebooks #booksmakemehappy #booksarethebest #bookrecommendations

Gabriel Stone moves north to Maine, in order to fulfill the dreams of his late wife by becoming a transcendentalist minister for the small village of Pale Harbor. Upon his arrival, he quickly learns that something dark is afoot when he finds the carcass of a dead animal displayed in his new church. The people of Pale Harbor are eager to blame the evil on the town's reclusive widow; however, when Gabriel goes to introduced himself to the mysterious woman he is immediately captivated by her graceful beauty. Is Sophronia Carver someone who needs protecting from the town's superstitious inhabitants or has she already put him under her spell? This was the first book that I'd read by Hester Fox. One of my favorite parts was the setting and how perfectly she set up the misty, moody atmosphere of the village. I could easily picture every scene from the foggy docks to the lush green forest to the cozy ball. As a romance fanatic I was fully satisfied with the development of the love story. There was just as much time spent on building up the tension between the widow and widower that there was constructing the Poe inspired mystery. I really wasn't sure which direction the story was going to go in and I was really hoping that our romantic leads weren't going to turn on one another. The supporting cast members were memorable and really helped to further develop the leads. After hearing the author speak a little bit on the dark subjects of her other books I'm looking forward to choosing my next one! #hesterfox #thewidowofpaleharbor #gothichorror #gothicromance #mystery #murder #edgarallanpoe #librarybook #theraven #bookclubreads

HELP ME PICK MY NEXT READ!! book friends..I’m in such a reading slump at the moment…I’m in the middle of like 6 books, and nothing seems to be keeping my attention. this is my current bedside table #tbr (not to be confused with my tv room #tbr, work #tbr, or car-only audiobook #tbr 😂😂)…a lot of great options here, but I don’t know where to start. Can someone help a fellow reader out and let me know what’s worth prioritizing, and more importantly, what’s gonna get me out of this slump!? ___ #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #newbook #flatlay #jordysbookclub #JBC #jordymademedoit #booktok #bookstack #librarybook #library #bookstore #newauthor #newauthors #bookcover #readersofinstagram #newbooks #booknerd #photography #shelfie #bookshelfie #bookpic #fiction #nonfiction #reader #nerdculture #bookshelf

🐺 Sᴜᴄʜ Sʜᴀʀᴘ ᴛᴇᴇᴛʜ ʙʏ Rᴀᴄʜᴇʟ Hᴀʀʀɪsᴏɴ 🐺 • 5 stars and no surprises here. The book has so much heart and emotional impact. You can read it as just a straightforward horror story with a romance subplot; However, you can also read the whole book as a metaphor. It is absolutely one to buy, reread, annotate, journal about… I’m not an emotional person, but even I felt like I needed to get my feelings out after reading. • @rachelharrisonsghost made me care about romance and werewolves, which are typically two themes I’d never choose to read. If I hadn’t already read Black Sheep and The Return and already knew and trusted RH’s writing, tbh I probably would’ve never picked this one up. Part of the reason I loved Black Sheep so much was that it took a twist I never saw coming and it was right up my alley- This story is so compelling that it didn’t need a twist. I knew pretty much exactly where it was going early into the book, and despite that, still relished every sentence of the ride and was still very satisfied with the conclusion. • The romance scenes of this book still give off the comfy RH vibes I’m used to, but there are also some scenes that could be triggering to certain individuals. I think that RH writes the scenes with grace, but it is still a horror book and its intention was to make the reader uncomfortable sometimes… mission accomplished. Aside from that, you can expect RH’s usual themes of family trauma, feminism and strong bonds between women. This book focuses particularly on multiple different aspects and phases of womanhood, and again, the symbolism with the werewolf narrative LITERALLY GAVE ME CHILLS. It’s brilliant, it’s beautiful, it’s a new favorite, it’s a recommendation to EVERY WOMAN I KNOW. THE END. 🖤 ••• P.s. What am I supposed to do now, just move on with my life? • • • #suchsharpteeth #rachelharrison #werewolf #werewolfbook #werewolfnovel #horror #horrorbook #recentlyread #tarot #occult #tarotcards #oraclecards #booksta #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #horrorgram #horrorlover #creaturefeature #werewolves #recentread #librarybook #creaturefeatures #darkfiction #werewolfromance #werewolfstory #horrorromance #femalewerewolf #bookcommunity

Black Sheep by Rachel Harrison If you are looking for a literary horror about cults and demons, you should pick this one up. It was good, but I think Cackle by this author was more up my alley. The audiobook, because that is the only way I can finish a book right now, was fantastic. French toast is my go-to restaurant breakfast item. It is something I never eat at home because it just is not good. How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis book review: This is a must for the neurodivergent or chronic illness girlies (gender neutral). Davis stresses about how you do not serve your space; your space serves you. When you do not have the body or mind that is capable of easily doing everything all the time, it can be hard to live that Pinterest-perfect lifestyle. The author is extremely down-to-earth and helped me understand that it’s okay to leave my space simply functional. For example, if dishes are piling up, it’s okay to move them to the counter so you can use your sink. You will get to them when you can. With the pressure to have the cleanest house, it’s difficult to remember that what you’re doing is enough. This book is that reminder. Davis goes into tips on how to keep your house cleaner and more functional without overwhelming you. It’s a very fast read, and it’s a very necessary read. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs help with all areas of your life, not just cleaning. I loved it so much that I’m getting my husband to read it since he suffers from chronic back pain and is so hard on himself to do everything all the time and never ask for help. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🏷️ #howtokeephousewhiledrowning #kcdavis #selfhelpbook #neurodivergent #adhdbook #chronicillnessbook #booksandcoffee #coffeeandbooks #kindlepaperwhite #kindle #libby #librarybook #bookreview #bookrecommendation #bookrec

This month for my reading challenge from my library I needed to read a book of poetry, which was far from my Norma reading so when I tired to their suggested book list and saw God I Feel Modern Tonight by @catccohen I immediately checked it out because I love her and her podcast, Seek Treatment. It was a collection of funny and unfiltered poems that was a entertaining read. I won’t lie I was dreading April when I started the reading challenge but I’m glad it pushed me to read this charming collection.. . . . . . .. . ... . . . . . . . . . . #gay #book #books #bookclub #booktok #reading #bookstagram #bookreview #bookrecommendations #read #bookclub #booktok #fiction #bookrecommendation #librarybook #bookstagram #romcom #romancebooks #bookstagram #gaybookstagram #gaybookstagrammer #library #readingchallenge #poems #poetry #catherinecohen #catcohen #godifeelmodeentonight

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “…carrying me facing forward on the street, because, as he said, ‘I want her to always see where she’s headed.’” This memoir is a workout (the book is so heavy to hold) and it seems to leave no detail behind. My knowledge of Barbra was very surface level, so it was a joy to tap into her memory. She appears to never forget anything. I found myself listening to albums and songs after reading corresponding chapters, and now search for albums at the record shop. #mynameisbarbra #memoir #barbrastreisand #Bookstagram #bookstagram #Bookrec #nonFictionbooks #Reading #Bookrecommendations #Bookreader #Librarybook #Bookgram

This is Happiness by Niall Williams is set in a fictional small town in Ireland in the late 1950s. Oh my! This is happiness! I would call this novel ENCHANTING. Recommended by Ann Patchett, this novel is a coming of age, very Irish story, set in a small rural town, Faha. Nothing ever changes here yet electricity is coming and everything will change. Noe, the narrator, is living with his grandparents after he drops out of studies for the priesthood (a promise he made to his dying mother). His life is in tatters until he meets Christy, a man come to town to sign up customers for electricity. Noe learns about love and heartache and music and happiness in the sunshine of this time.

#SundaySelection The Marriage Sabbatical by Lian Dolan "What if you could take a vacation from your marriage? A couple decides to give it a shot in this fun, adventurous novel by Lian Dolan, the popular author of The Sweeney Sisters and Lost and Found in Paris. After twenty-three years of building careers and raising kids together, Jason and Nicole Elswick are ready for a break from their daily lives. Jason has spent years planning his dream sabbatical—ditching work for a nine-month-long motorcycle trip through South America. Problem is, that’s Jason’s dream, not Nicole’s. After years working retail and parenting in Portland, Nicole craves the sun of the Southwest and the artistic community in Santa Fe, where she wants to learn jewelry design. A chance encounter at a dinner party presents a surprising—and intriguing—way out of their dilemma. Over a little too much wine, Jason and Nicole’s married neighbors sing the praises of the 500 Mile Rule: their policy of enjoying themselves however they wish—and with whomever they wish—when they’re temporarily far apart. It seems like the perfect solution: nine months pursuing their own adventures—with a bit of don’t-ask-don’t-tell—and then a return to their shared lives. It’ll be a sabbatical from their marriage as well as their day jobs. As Jason bikes his way across a continent and Nicole reclaims the art she’s long neglected, they discover the pleasures and pitfalls of the 500 Mile Rule, confronting temptations of all kinds, uncomfortable truths about themselves, and gaining new perspective on their partnership. But all sabbaticals come to an end…then what?" #ebrpl #staffpick #librarybook #library #librariesofinstagram #batonrouge

April has been an epic indie book month for me and it started off with this delectable read that I was instantly sucked into!! I loved all the Disney theme park vibes. I loved our angry brooding billionaire. I even like our quiet uncertain poor princess. Her bubbliness was contagious! So for some reason I’ve had a pause on posting but I’ve been reading@books faster than ever. #thelostbookshop was a dreamy book with a relatable and likable cast of characters plus a compelling story. Some mystery behind the story drew me to speed read it at times and the escapism was just what I needed. Opaline, Martha and Henry all have concurrent stories that somehow are tangled together but not in the way you might think. Martha was my most connected person and I just wanted to find out whether she was going to be ok, safe and have a better life. The bookshop itself was a character - could have actually expanded on that part IMO. I’ll definitely try more #eviewoods @evie.gaughan books and give this story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 #bookreview #booksbooksbooks #bookrecommendations #romancebooks #mysterybooks #bookshopbooks #libbyapp #librarybook #bookstagram

🤍 #makotoshinkai #suzume #currentlyreading #reading #bookstagram #bookstagramgermany #egmontverlag #lesen #bücher #buch #bibliothek #library #librarybook
