. . . . . . . #lexonilibra #libratemire #unelexoj #kendi_i_leximit #goodbooks #booklover #bookblogger #bookaddicted #bookaddiction #instabook #bibliophile #biblioterapia #bibliomania #bibliomaniac #bookish #goodreads #bookstagram #bookshelf #instabooks #books #goodreads #reading #readingtime #igbooks #bookrecommendations #belladona #dašadrndić

Poppies, cornflowers and other spike flowers, violets, which Elvira cannot distinguish well. On the right a large oak tree, with a flock of sheep crowded in its shade. The oblique light cuts out some lighter leaves against the dark green background of the foliage. Sitting on the grass is a little girl of twelve or thirteen, dressed in earthy rags, barefoot, her blond hair gathered in two disheveled braids, and yet very pretty, eats greedily holding a rough wooden bowl close to her mouth. Her small fingers handle the spoon quickly. Her brow is furrowed, her whole face concentrated on the food. #bookstagram #bibliomania #bobliomaniac #fypppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp #like #share

#bookreview ‘Happily Married’ by Victoria Jenkins A slow-burn psychological thriller. An average twist, a mixed bag of characters and interesting fast-paced last sections. Natalie & Jake are married and are at stage when their relationship feels jaded. They have a young girl Elsie who needs medical attention. Tyler is a friend, who helps at their farm. With their income being stressed, Natalie works part-time at a pub, and they consider renting out a room at their farm. Kara Barton, rents their room, saying this is ideal as she works in IT remotely and likes calm. Natalie starts to suspect that Jake is having an affair and wonders if it is with Kara or someone else. There are also strange incidents which feel like threats to her, but she cannot be sure. I liked how the story builds with Natalie’s perspective and you really feel for the agony she goes through. There is also the perspective of the other person – named past half of the book. The pace is slow for the most part, and the tension holds well. I found the twist to be average, though as is typical of psychological thrillers, the writing prior to that is deliberately structured to mislead. Natalie and Kara are very good characters. Jake’s character is weak, Tyson’s character average and a bit sensationalist. Overall, the last sections make this a worthwhile read. #bookstagram #bibliophile #booklovers #fiction #psychologicalthriller #bibliomania

☆ "Common sense tells us that the things of the earth barely exist and that true reality is in dreams"... Ficha bibliográfica: Título: «La Mesa Herida». Autor: Laura Martínez-Belli. Año: 2023. País: México/España. Editorial: Planeta. Páginas: 392. Calificación: 9/10. ¡WOW!

One of the most exciting aspects of antiquarian book collecting is discovering the provenance of a beloved tome. If you’re lucky, your book may contain the bookplate of a previous owner. If you’re REALLY lucky, that previous owner was a prominent historical figure such as Napoléon Bonaparte, George Washington, or Charles Dickens all of whom had personal bookplates. These are just a small sample of bookplates out of The Rise of The Book Plate by W.G. Bowdoin, published in 1901. If you are interested in bookplates and their history, I would highly recommend picking up this little turn of the 20th century treasure of which you can still find for less than $100. . . . . . #bookplate #bookplates #illustration #art #bookarts #lineart #engravings #bibliophile #bibliomania #bibliosmia #bibliovita #bookstagram #books #oldbooks #vintage #antiquarian #bookhistory #provenance

Denis Johnson - "Nobody Move". Jimmy Luntz is a gambling man, that does not mean that he is a lucky man, he owes money to a Juarez, that's a man you do not want after you. Rumour has it that he and Gambol, his grim reaping right hand man, once dined on the testicles of someone who owed them money, not that they're sadistic, it was just to prove a point. Jimmy Luntz knows this story. He's on the run and he runs into Anita. Anita is beautiful, but she's been framed by her ex and the local judge who stole millions. Anita is beautiful yes, but she's viciously angry, she drinks badly and she is armed. Those people will clash, clash so hard you can't put this down, because none of them have anything to loose, except for their lives, but their lives are hanging by a thread anyway. Harsh and beautiful, this part of the American West sure us no country for old men. #denisjohnson #usfiction #fiction #literature #usliterature #americanliterature #lowlife #igreads #igbooks #booksofinstagram #books #crimenovel #crimefiction #readersofinstagram #reader #bibliophile #bibliomania

So thrilled with my recent book mail!!! I love @janice.hallett and am really excited to dive in to her next book. The Examiner is out in August and sounds brilliant: Six Students. One Murder. Your time starts now… Thank you @viper.books for sending this fabulous proof package. I am so looking forward to attempting to solve this mystery! "Outside, the splendor of the moon spread streaks and patches of blue, black and silver across the entire island. In the distance, among the dark cypresses, the owls called to each other in serene calls. The sky was black and soft as skin of a mole, sprinkled with a delicate dew of stars. The magnolia was like a vast shadow over the house, with its branches full of white flowers, which looked like hundreds of tiny reflected moons, and their sweet, intense perfume lingered languidly on the loggia, that perfume that was like a spell that enticed you to enter the mysterious moonlit countryside." ☆ @liberamentesanlurilibri #liberamentesanlurilibri #passionelibri #bibliopatia #bibliotecheprivate #bibliomania #bibliofilia #buoneletture #bookreader #bookblogger #bookstagramitalia #bookstagram #booksncoffee #booklifestyle #booklover #instabooks #instalibri #leggereresistere #leggodiverso #libridaleggere #libriconsigliati #libriecaffè #leggerefabene #leggeresempre #leggereditutto #librisulibri #libridappertutto #librimania #storiedilibri

I’m on a mission to stop collecting books simply for the gratification that comes from doing so. Therefore, I am very proud of myself for walking out of Waterstones today with only two new books - two books that I am extremely excited to read! I have an entire bookcase of books that I have never read and will never read, purely because of my previous book-buying addiction. I’m currently trying to sell a lot of them on Vinted, with the hopes of them all eventually being gone, and my lesson learned! The classics and horror are where my heart lies, and I have two bookcases full of beautiful books that I adore and will want to read again and again. I definitely want to be more mindful when adding to this collection, only buying books that really pique my interest, editions I love, and books I will want to read, or pass down to my daughter. Overconsumption is such a huge problem in today’s society and I’m keen not to be a part of that in any way. So it’s time to kick that Bibliomania to the curb! • #bookstagram #bibliomania #bookbuying #bookhaul #japanesehorror #japanesebooks #bookunhaul #asakoyuzuki #fyodordostoyevsky #overconsumption

✨️Mini Book Review✨️ Have you read anything by Toshikazu Kawaguchi? 4⭐️ Slowly but surely, this book series and its characters are creeping its way into my heart. This is so different from what I usually read, and every time I pick up the book it takes some times until I get into the story because the writing is so unusual for me, but I'm really enjoying this nonetheless 😊 I do get quite confused with all the (often very similar) names, but oh well.. I like how, with each story, you get another little snippet of the cafe's and the characters' story and I'm very curious about what I'Il learn in the next books. #talesfromthecafe #toshikazukawaguchi #beforethecoffeegetscold #bestseller #globalbestseller #bibliophile #bookreview #minireview #minibookreview #booklover #readingmakesmehappy #booksmakemehappy #bibliophilelife #bibliomania #buchverliebt #boekenliefde #boekenliefhebber #buchliebe #buchliebhaberin #booklove #bookstagram #bookseries

Over 800 pages of the iconic Madonna. As a fan I devoured this and relished the political and historical context of her long-standing career. Seeing how the music industry has changed in 60+ years was the sort of thing I had hoped to get but was missing from the last Madonna biography I read (the J. Randy Taraborelli one). This was, for the most part, brilliantly written and often caught the magic of this superstar and what makes her tick as an artist. As for what makes her tick as a person, I found this largely lacking. Madonna comes off as more interesting, relatable, witty and clever in her interviews or in Truth or Dare than she does here. Still enjoyed this though, and would recommend for fans. Also wish this came with an in-page bibliography rather than just an online one. Here is a little masterpiece of literature; "Saint Sebastian's Abyss" by Mark Haber. The narrator, who is a aging art critic is on his way to the deathbed of another art critic, a friend who hasn't spoken to him for years, since their disagreement, about art. Both their lives have been spend in obsessive speculation over one surviving painting from a Dutch renaissance painter who died of syphilis, mad, blind and forgotten. The novel travels with the narrator through art and obsession, history and madness in short chapters. It is a fascinating and sarcastic novel about the desperate drive to apply meaning to a miserable existence. Highly recommended if you have a taste for the bitter humour of Thomas Bernhard and the chaotic darkness of Lászlo Krasznahorkai even though Haber writes on a slightly lighter note. #literature #fiction #novel #igbooks #igreads #reader #lesa #books #bookworms #bookworld #bibliophile #bibliomania #coffehousepress #booksofinstagram #bookstagram

‘She wondered how often she had been an ignorant stranger in someone else’s story…’ 📚 New Delhi, 1995. When Will, a young Englishman, encounters the beautiful, enigmatic Leela one night during the monsoon, little does he realize that his life will be upturned and irrevocably transformed. Twenty-three years later, Aria arrives in Delhi on a personal quest, seeking answers about the mother she has never known—and unaware of the shattering truths she will discover. How these two storylines interweave and converge is where the beauty of this novel lies. ☀️ Steeped in nostalgia and rendered in lush prose, @aishwaryajm’s “The Scent of Fallen Stars” tells a captivating story of love, fate, memory and family. Spanning two generations and cultures, it is also a moving tribute to the chaos and charm of Delhi, a city that will forever beguile, astound and agonize all who pass through it. ✨ I’ve known Aishwarya for over a decade now, and it has never been in doubt that she was born to write. From her crisply structured plays to her finely punctuated WhatsApp messages, it was clear that words were her forte—and she dazzled with them, both on and off the stage. And so it gives me a special kind of joy to see her debut novel, a true labour of love, finally make its way into the world.

"Mr Mercedes" by Stephen King 5⭐ (On Audible, loved the narration!) Loved this book, really looking forward to reading the rest of the Bill Hodges series! 📚 In the predawn hours, in a distressed American city, hundreds of unemployed men and women line up for the opening of a job fair. They are tired and cold and desperate. Emerging from the fog, invisible until it is too late, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes. Months later, an ex-cop named Bill Hodges, still haunted by the unsolved crime, contemplates suicide. When he gets a crazed letter from "the perk," claiming credit for the murders, Hodges wakes up from his depressed and vacant retirement, fearing another even more diabolical attack and hell-bent on preventing it. Brady Hartfield lives with his alcoholic mother in the house where he was born. He loved the feel of death under the wheels of the Mercedes, and he wants that rush again. Only Bill Hodges, with a couple of eccentric and mismatched allies, can apprehend the killer before he strikes again. And they have no time to lose, because Brady's next mission, if it succeeds, will kill or maim thousands. ✨🤓📘📚📖✨ 📚 29/110 books read from 2024 reading challenge

© F. Vitale, 1967
