Finishing off The 30 Plant Based Challenge with 7 Veggies, all of which do NOT count towards my total for the week as I've already eaten them ... but hey, it just me. I've had a fantastic week helping my gut Microbiomes . My total and I'm astounded ( though I did make an effort even though I know I do more than 30 on a regular week ) is 85 😱😱😱 . I feel my bonus for a change is that my diet is gluten-free, so I do have options of which I use regularly . Plus, Kat, our nutritionist, has always drummed into me. Variety is Key !!! They say a picture is worth a thousand words and when I see these two, I couldn't agree more. The photo on the left was taken when I visited Savannah back in 2021. I remember feeling huge and miserable, struggling to navigate the steep steps on the right and wondering if I could even make it to the top. Fast forward to this past weekend and here I am, taking the same steps with ease and confidence. Making healthy choices has completely transformed my life for the better. I no longer see those stairs as a daunting challenge, but rather a reminder of how far I've come. I know I have been boring everyone with food pics lately but I hope it helps people who need it. Since my accident during the back end of Covid, hitting the menopause and a very sedentary job for the last couple of years my weight has increased. My recent diagnosis of fatty liver disease and pre diabetes has hopefully given me the kick up the backside I need! At that recent health check my weight shocked me into action - today is only Day 7 of giving it 100% - an 8 pound weight loss πŸ™Œ and I am 14.5 pounds lighter in total - approximately as on different scales as I don’t have any. Well Day 1 using the NHS app - pretty easy to do. Smashed it at the pool this morning! So happy I didn't flake. Something I really struggle with, being a full-time working single parent of a 5 year old, is finding the time during the day to exercise. It is always the first thing to go (coz, work and parenting/school runs). But I'm trying to find a way to build in a sustainable routine. So this morning I booked Kiddo into breakfast club, and walked to the gym and got in the pool. I'm now set up with my laptop in the gym cafe with a nice coffee, where I'm going to get some work done before I head home at lunch. I always feel better when I get up and move first thing in the morning, rather than sluggishly sitting on the sofa drinking coffee while Small has breakfast. I know how this feels and it is beyond frustrating as this was my life for the longest time.⁣ ⁣ I would lose weight doing a β€œdiet” that was so restrictive and beyond unsustainable. ⁣ ⁣ However, once I stopped doing the β€œdiet” plan, I would gain back all of the weight that I lost and some.⁣ ⁣ I used to give up all of my favorite foods like pizza, bread, pasta, donuts, cake and ice cream. I could do this diet for a bit of time, however eventually I would cave in to my cravings for these foods. ⁣ ⁣ Once I gave into these cravings, it was lights out and I would binge on all of these foods non stop.⁣ ⁣ I’ll never forget being at a party where I had promised myself that I would be good before going. They had my favorite cupcakes (chocolate/chocolate). I decided to have one and it was all downhill from there. I ate 4 pieces of pizza, chips, dip, pretzels and another cupcake.⁣ ⁣ This was my life for as long as I could remember. My weight went down and up.
