Aiden…where do I start. Happy 37wk 5 days out…the same length of time you spent being part of me. It was a little rough for a while, your size was over 90% starting at 30wk. Mommy had symphysis pubis dysfunction, feeling like my hips wanted to split open when you were Frank breech and needed more space. Mommy was so ecstatic to see you, but knew things weren’t right when you were blue as soon as they pulled you out from the cesarean. You were over 11lbs, 22.5” long and your oxygen was only at 60’s then 80’s with the OR supplemental oxygen. Mommy couldn’t hold you until the 3rd day you were out in this crazy world since you needed that supplemental oxygen via CPAP. You were the largest NICU baby and could pee the furthest distance. I think even now, you still pee pretty far. 😅 It was rough for Mommy that day when you were born, having placenta accreta. I was scared and not sure if I’d ever get to see you, giving verbal authorization to my anesthesiologist to put an Internal Jugular vein IV access so I could quickly get 10 PRBCs and blood products after losing 3/4 of my blood. It was luck I needed a cesarean since that made it so much quicker for them to perform surgery. Mommy’s been through and continues therapy for the PTSD from that ordeal to make sure she can be the best mommy for you. Aiden, not only is it May Day (May 1st), but you’ve now grown so much in these past 37wk 5d. Mommy and Daddy love you so much and are so amazed by your intelligence, strength, silliness…we’re just over the moon. Thank you for making us the lucky parents we get to be. The Gospel isn’t a suggestion, it’s a command. In the words of Rick Warren “give Jesus a 60-day trial”… Jesus isn’t someone we “try out” to see if He works for us. When we follow Christ, we are commanded to lay down our lives. When you offer Jesus as a suggestion, you are disregarding the fact that people are in NEED of a Savior. heaven and hell are real. God’s justice and wrath are real. God’s love and mercy are real. Stop selling Jesus as a car salesman–telling people if they accept Him they’ll have their “best life now”. Stop making Jesus out to be a puny, wimpy Savior that people would be doing a favor if they come to Him. No, Jesus is a MIGHTY SAVIOR who is willing to save the uttermost! Tell people that they have sinned against the God of the universe and are worthy of His punishment. Warn them of the reality of eternity–that they will either spend in heaven or hell. Tell them about the great love of God that was displayed on Calvary. Explain to them that the wrath of God was poured out on Christ to pay for our sins. Declare to them that Jesus lived the perfect life, died the substitutionary death, and defeated the grave. Make clear to them that CHRIST ALONE saves and that through His death, we are reconciled and brought into fellowship with God. Plead with them to trust in Christ, and Christ alone. Call them to turn away from their sin and to turn to Jesus. Please, speak the TRUTH in LOVE and declare to sinners their NEED for Christ. I ADORE music and those who know me, know this and will often recommended things for me to check out. Recently "The Swan of Tuonela" by Jean Sibelius was shared with me. The recommender's offhand mention of it being "a tone poem about a Swan who guards the river of death in the Finnish underworld" had me of course, needing to know more! Sadly Instagram won't allow me to share a clip of any version of it but I will link it on the story for this post or you can look it up, it's an oldie but a goodie after all 🤪 When you listen, know that the soulful sounding English Horn (Cor Anglais) represents the voice of the swan and this solo is one of the best known English Horn solos in orchestral literature. It is quite simply, beautiful and it moves me. It feels like a divine sigh. It now ranks in my top 5 favourite classical pieces of all time. So to inspire you to listen here's an action packed snapshot of the story behind the composition. 🦢 The Swan of Tuonela: A Death-Defying Quest! ☠️ In the mystical Kalevala, Lemminkäinen must perform THREE tasks to win the hand of a beautiful maiden. But there's a catch - the final task is no walk in the park! In this piece he embarks on a treacherous journey to kill the sacred Swan of Tuonela. No biggie, right? Wrong! One wrong move and it's lights out! Facing off against an angry shepherd and a venomous serpent, Lemminkäinen's fate hangs in the balance. Will he succeed with just one bow and arrow? Spoiler alert: Things take a twisted turn as the river drags Lemminkäinen to the chilling tombs of Tuonela. It's game over as he gets sliced and diced by the Son of Tuoni. Death has a way of jolting us back to the reality that this life we live is but a whisper... The recent passing of a friend serves as a stark reminder of the fleeting nature of life. Schluss mit vollgekotzen Tragen/Materialien und RTW-Böden weil der „einen über den Durst getrunken und dann sämtliche Scharm verloren hat“ Patient meint in meinem Rettungswagen wärs ne super Abladestelle.
