Not fitness related, but why not keep it honest? I have a pretty voluminous Afro, meaning my hair is not chemically straightened. It takes hours to straighten curly hair with a flat iron, so rather than heat damage all of my hair, sometimes I’ll straighten some of my hair, and put in extensions to blend in. It’s a lot of hair. I really wish I were better at styling my natural hair, which is a little past shoulder length, but until then, I may vary my hairstyles from time to time from no extensions to extensions. Please don’t be alarmed! lol. It doesn’t affect my fitness capabilities whatsoever. 🤣 4) Child of God, you’re blessed! 🌟

At 45 I was tired of dieting. I started when I was 12. So the idea that I’m a statistic ⇒1 of the many midlife women who has done 61 diets or more ⇐ to me, is real and sad. Are you also in that group? Type “ME” in the comments and let me know I’m not alone here. ❓How could I be so successful in other things and not be able to do this???!!! ❓I have all this education and I STILL can’t seem to stay on a diet very long??? What was wrong with me??? Turns out, nothing. 👉I needed a more strategic method of living that allowed me to lose weight 👉That plan needed to be easily integrated into my lifestyle so that it didn’t feel like I was doing something completely separate from the rest of my life 👉I had to recognize that my beliefs and ideas about dieting were actually sabotaging my success and I had to develop a new thought process that supported me. There are no words. Today I am thankful beyond words. Thankful for getting stronger, feeling more confident, looking my best, being healthier. In my thirties I was dieting and exercising myself to death without seeing any results. Fourty, I am only going to the gym 3 times a week. I can eat my cake if I want to and I have a healthy relationship with food. I am free and I am never hungry! As I am getting older, I realise how important health is and the value of protein! Our bodies need protein to regenerate and build new body cells. As we get older, our bodies burn less fat and slower at rest. To feel good and remain healthy we need to eat more protein. I need at least 120g of protein per day as an active person. Sadly to say, the protein in food is very low and the calories are extremely high. Beef has only 26 grams of protein (per 100g) and 163 calories!! 😞 Herbalife gave me a way to eat my required protein as it is very high in protein and low in calories. It has all the vitamines and minerals I need and I don't need any additional vitamines! I love being part of the supportive community where we get amazing results with our 10 day nutritional coaching. The supportive community, daily accountability makes a big difference! Oh my goodness!! This was DEVINE!! Having tried the roasted tomatoes and feta before on pasta, I tried it with broccoli mixed in today instead of pasta to have as a side to my chicken skewers (I’ve decided I don’t like the aldi ones now, they’ve got like a coating on them which feels like a skin 😩 but I’ve got 2 more packs in the freezer!) So when it comes to being a dietitian in the space of helping others, weight is a big trigger point for most folks. Changing weight, weight-based health concerns or shame about weight and bodies is pervasive and highly misunderstood for its complexity. Weight neutral nutrition counseling and coaching is the cornerstone of my value system. Body size or weight shouldn’t dominate and dictate food choices. Nutritionally beneficial foods aren’t owned by a body type- we all deserve them. Weight is not a behaviour we can change. It’s much more complex, and too often that isn’t understood. Deciding the right approach is person specific. Respecting ourselves for where we are at, instead of punishing ourselves for how we got here. The focus is health, all encompassing, and how that looks to each individual. 🗒️ I do recognize weight is all encompassing and there is a wide range of body size and shape. Some are living in larger body sizes, others in small body sizes. Needs are different. Approaches might be different.
