There is a big misunderstanding that when you're trying ot lose fat you should be changing everything you eat entirely - that's not necessarily the case. In an ideal world, you should be able to eat the SAME things in different phases, just with different portions! A real quick example for you - my breakfast in these phases is incredibly similar. The biggest differences: - lower calorie carb in deficit vs. maintenance (english muffin vs. bagel) - 2 sausages vs. 3 - more egg whites vs. more whole egg in deficit vs. maintenance Small tweaks are all you need! This will make your phases feel consistent, and less like a "diet". Unpopular opinion but when did that ever stop me?! It’s perfectly fine to drink wine…. And enjoy a bag of crisps with it. Especially Tayto Irish crisps (best in the world). I even had an M&S crispie thing too. I can hear the collective gasp from the food police from here!!! But this is one of the secrets of not over indulging or bingeing or feeling guilt around food- PERMISSION. If I fancy a glass of red, I’ll have it. If I fancy a bag of crisps, I’ll have them. If the M&S tub is open and I fancy one, I’ll have it. What I DON’T do is tell myself I can’t or I shouldn’t. When you remove the rules- the ‘shoulds and shouldn’ts’, you immediately take a layer of guilt and deprivation off the table. I CAN have it…. If I want it. So how to stop at 1 or 2? That’s where our magic question comes in. Will it nourish or punish me? As a post-menopausal woman I really can’t do more than 1-2 drinks anymore without suffering later that night. So a second, and definitely a third, will ‘punish’ me at 4am. My choices to eat/not eat are only ever made through this lens. How do I want to feel at bedtime? How do I want to sleep? How do I want to feel in the morning? It’s never about ‘shouldn’t’ or ‘can’t’. It’s simply about how I want to feel physically and emotionally. And how I want to sleep. it’s about my health and wellbeing, never my weight or any food rules.
