Hey everyone, it’s Mark. According to a recent Pew survey, many US parents mentioned concerns about their children’s connection to technology. Screen time is a genuine concern, with 71% of parents worrying about how it affects their children’s development.  With schools decreasing restrictions on device usage and recess and outdoor time, children have access to screens all day long.  Solutions designed to limit screen time are also growing, ranging from parental control apps to time-controlled device vaults and apps that track how much time we spend outdoors. These answers may seem punitive or even require us to carry a device in the one place we should feel the freedom not to…outside.  Cycling is unique in its holistic impact. Aside from the obvious physical benefits, it helps to improve motor integration, coordination, proprioception, mood, and brain development. It also fosters self-confidence and independence, which are MAJOR issues we consistently see in children and young adults.  For many of us, a bicycle was our first step toward freedom. My memories of getting on a bike as a kid and riding into a day filled with unknown adventures are some of my most cherished.    Why did that ever have to stop?     In our current episode, we talk with “The Bicycle Nomad” Erick Cedeño, a historian, storyteller, and Explorer’s Club member. Common sense seems to dictate that obesity comes from a lack of self-control. At the same time, I believe there are deep mental disorders in play that affect the way we eat. This is because our body image and self-esteem affect how much we do or don’t eat. In support of my position, the article “Examining Associations Between Obesity and Mental Health Disorders from Childhood to Adolescence” says that obese children are 7.5 times more likely to have a mental health disorder than normal weight children. This may not be widely known, but this article highlights the importance of how a child’s mental health can truly make a big impact on their physical health. Bonsoir à tous 😊 J'espère que vous allez bien ! Je vous propose aujourd'hui une recette de Dahl de pois cassés et épinards au lait de coco 😍 Une recette simple à faire et super bonne !! Il vous faut pour 3 personnes : 250g de pois cassés 100g d'épinards frais 2 petites carottes 1 oignon 2 gousses d'ail 1 c.a.c de curry 1 c.a.c de cumin 1 c.a.c de curcuma Sel/poivre 200ml de lait de coco Commencez par émincer l'oignon, l'ail et les carottes. Faire revenir l'oignon, les carottes et les épinards. Ajoutez ensuite les épices et les laisser se torréfier avant de mettre les pois et l'ail. Couvrir le tout d'eau et cuire à couvert environ 40 minutes. Rallonger le plat avec le lait de coco et de la coriandre et laissez cuire encore 15 mins environ.
