The Exorcist: Believer (2023) dir. David Gordon Green The lives of two families are uprooted when two girls go missing, only to be found three days later with no recollection as to what happened to them. But soon after, both girls begin exhibiting odd behavior that could only be explained as demonic. Desperate for help, the father of one of the girls contacts Chris MacNeil, mother to Regan who was possessed all those years ago. Second viewing for me and first for Allen. This movie made this year's Razzie nominations, but both Allen and I seemed to agree that it didn't really belong on there. I'll save my comments, because I already covered this in October, but Allen echoed a lot of the same sentiments that I had about the movie. It wasn't really a bad movie, but it wasn't a good movie either. It has moments of greatness, but any moment is usually undermined by a lesser quality of the scene. The worst you can say about it is that the dialogue can be really, really bad sometimes. Allen wishes that they focused on one child instead of having two (although, I personally disagree and like the dual possession premise) and he would have also liked that if they were going to use multiple religions that they just pick one and focus on it - and I kind of agree with him on that one. All in all, Allen wasn't bored. He didn't love it but he also didn't hate it, but above all we both don't think this movie really deserved to be on the 2024 Razzie Nom list (and frankly, neither does Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey!) It's honestly too bad that the movie was so poorly received, because this storyline feels dead in the water at this point. O Exorcista: O Devoto / The Exorcist: Believer (2023) - Opinião Sincera Demora a engrenar e quando engrena não sabe o que fazer. "O Exorcista: O Devoto" tem uma narrativa pouco atrativa, a direção de David Gordon Green é rasa em termos de artimanhas para contar uma história, o filme acaba indo para um terreno genérico e totalmente sem graça. O segundo ato do filme se estende ao máximo e se ao menos algo tivesse sendo desenvolvido isso seria positivo, porém, o filme demora a engrenar e quando chega nos finalmentes fica a sensação de que ninguém sabe o que quer e/ou queria entregar, o vazio do roteiro fica exposto (se é que já não estava) e o mínimo que havia sido construído cai por terra. Os diálogos expositivos até são compreensíveis, mas chegando no clímax se torna irritante e pouco sábio, a trilha sonora chega a encher a paciência e os personagens que não tinha o menor traço de um trabalho bem feito terminam de ter um fim patético, chato e pouquíssimo apreciável como um todo na jornada. No mais, David Gordon Green entrega um filme de pouca qualidade, onde prolonga um desenvolvimento nulo e se desfaz completamente no fim. Nota: 1,5/5 (Ruim) . . . . . 【ネタバレあり】オカルト映画の金字塔である1作目に近い怖さはあるけど、読後感が悪い『エクソシスト 信じる者』 【個人的な満足度】 2023年日本公開映画で面白かった順位：130/165 　　ストーリー：★★★☆☆ 　キャラクター：★★★★☆ 　　　　　映像：★★★☆☆ 　　　　　音楽：★★★★☆ 映画館で観たい：★★★★☆ 【作品情報】 　　　原題：The Exorcist: Believer 　　製作年：2023年 　　製作国：日本 　　　配給：東宝東和 　上映時間：111分 　ジャンル：ホラー、オカルト 元ネタなど：映画『エクソシスト』シリーズ（1973-） 【あらすじ】※公式サイトより引用。 ヴィクター（レスリー・オドム・Jr）は12年前に妻を亡くして以来、1人で娘のアンジェラ（リディア・ジュエット）を育てている。 ある日、アンジェラと親友のキャサリン（オリヴィア・オニール）が森へ出かけたきり行方不明となるが、3日後に無事保護される。 しかし、その日から彼女たちの様子がどこかおかしい。 突然暴れ出し、叫び、自傷行為を行うなど常軌を逸した行動を繰り返す2人…。 ヴィクターはかつて憑依を目撃した経験者クリス・マクニール（エレン・バースティン）に助けを求め、悪魔祓いの儀式を始めるが、それは想像を絶する危険な試みだった。 懸命に見守る親たちを嘲笑い悪魔は問いかける。 1人は生き残り、1人は死ぬ。 どちらかを選べと――。 【感想】 『エクソシスト』シリーズ第6作目。 第1作目からはちょうど50年も経つという老舗ホラー映画。 しかも、これはその第1作目からの正当な続編で、その間の作品はなかったことになってるという設定。 というか、このシリーズは全部第1作目からの派生で、それ以外のつながりがまったくないんだよね（笑） なお、本作は新たな3部作の1作目となるらしい。 個人的には、このシリーズ嫌いではないんだけど、第1作目のインパクトが強すぎて、それをを超える作品がなかなかないんだよ。 悪魔に憑依されて変貌してしまう少女。 汚い言葉を発し、自傷行為に走り、階段をブリッジして降りてくる通称"蜘蛛歩き"の恐怖。 その点においては、本作はそれらを踏襲していたので、第1作目に近い怖さはあったと思う。 とはいえ、蜘蛛歩きの代わりになるようなものがなかったのが、ちょっと物足りないところではあるんだけど。 その分、本作では憑依される少女が2人という設定に特徴がある。 ひとつの悪霊が2人に分散しているからか、2人の心拍もシンクロしており、どちらか一方しか助けられないという究極の選択を迫られる。 これがまあ、なかなかにお粗末なオチでして。。。 以下、ネタバレあり。 ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ハリウッドらしく、なんかウルトラQ的な施策で両方助かるかと思ったんだけどね。 本当に片方しか助からないっていう。 しかも、悪魔の「どちらか選べ」っていうのも、今思えば「助けたい方を選べ」とは言ってなかったんじゃないかなって気が（うろ覚え）。 だから、片方を選んだとき、てっきりみんなそっちが助かるかと思ったのに、そっちが死んじゃうからね。 ハッピーエンドとバッドエンドが混在する何ともハッキリしない後味の悪い結末だったというわけ。 メインストーリーはそんな感じだったけど、第1作目のキャストが再び登場したのは、シリーズを追ってきた身としてはエモいポイントかな。 クリスが重症を負いながらも生きていたのは、続編以降に登場させるためでは。 まあ、彼女が今後戦力になるかはわからないけど（笑） というのも、味方が何人いようと、悪魔祓いってキリストに丸投げする他力本願が基本だから。 「悪魔を追い払うため力を貸してください～」とか「キリストの名のもとに出ていけ～」とか。 キリストがいてすべて成り立つから、死してなお力を貸さなければならないキリストも大変だなと思う。 なんかこう、メッチャ強いスーパー聖水とか、かざした瞬間に悪霊を死滅させるハイパー十字架とか、そういうのないもんかね（笑） そんなわけで、第1作目を超えるインパクトはないものの、今後シリーズが続くことを踏まえたら観ておいてもいいかなと思う映画だった。 多少びっくりするところはあるけど、全体的にそんなに怖くはないので、ホラーが嫌いな人でも大丈夫かも。 #movie #film #cinema #theexorcist #theexorcistbeliever #davidgordongreen #leslieodomjr #lidyajewett #oliviaoneill #jennifernettles #norbertleobutz #anndowd #ellenburstyn #映画 #映画好き #映画感想 #映画レビュー #シネマロ #エクソシスト #エクソシスト信じる者 #デヴィッドゴードングリーン #レスリーオドムJr #リディアジュエット #オリヴィアオニール #ジェニファーネトルズ #ノーバートレオバッツ #アンダウド #エレンバースティン

HIGHER GROUND (2011) Being Vera Farmiga's directorial debut, I would say that it's somewhat more engaging and thought-provoking than expected for a non-Christian like me. Not to mention how it's nice to see both Vera and Taissa portraying the same character. But at the end of the day, I still feel like an outsider regarding some faith-based and ambiguous stuff. Credited as music composed and arranged by Alec Puro, I think those who are looking for a solid introduction to the composer through the score will likely be disappointed since there are only about 5 minutes of average guitar and piano music. But if you are here for the songs, you should be happy for being able to obtain some religious and emotional moments from them; either the diegetic or non-diegetic way. Finally… it’s time to talk The Exorcist: Believer. Man this gets a LOT of hate and I know Friedkin was totally against it but, I actually kinda liked it. I mean yeah there were things that maybe didn’t sit right with me: Burstyn’s screen time and fate as the main one but I still loved the fact she was in it (even if just for the money *see trivia*) being the boss she is. I really liked Leslie Odom Jr’s character. Single dad just trying to do right by his daughter. It felt like you really went through the wringer with him in his struggle to save her soul. I also loved the church scene where Katherine walks down the aisle in her newly possessed state and the final exorcism scene. Pure blasphemy and religious chaos! “The Body and the Blood.” It was never ever gonna come close to the original but I mean ,yeah, I can still appreciate what it was doing. I do feel I’m in the minority though… If you’ve seen it, what did you think? 6 compelling powers of Christ out of 10.
