Taylors Wines and Tahbilk, with their extensive efforts to achieve carbon neutrality, can’t go unmentioned. And manufacturers like DIAM are also actively taking steps to reduce energy consumption through the production process, while leaning heavily into renewable and natural resources to produce bottle closures.🍾 Constellation Brands say that “48 percent of consumers will deliberately switch to a brand that is more sustainable” and their Round Theory Wines are a solid case study of efforts to make and sell a more environmentally sound product. They come in distinct bottles that are 30% lighter, 35% shorter and made from clear glass to be more readily recyclable. ♻️ The packaging is made from recyclable aluminium and plastics and the label from recycled paper. The wine is made using sustainably farmed grapes from accredited vineyards, and Round Theory (via a partnership) offsets double its carbon emissions produced in carbon credits.🍷 Climate change is impacting and shaping today’s wine industry. The efforts of players from vineyard to table will be pivotal to bring sustainability to the industry, while reducing the environmental toll of farming, production and supply chain management. From growers embracing organic farming, cover crops and compost to winemakers and manufacturers using renewable energy, sustainable products and leaner processes, it’s encouraging to read what big and small players are doing to thrive in the years ahead.👏🏻

Aujourd'hui nous parlons d'un récent coup de cœur. Nous partons dans la Loire sur l'appellation Saumur et plus précisément le village de Montreuil-Bellay. Il s'appelle Étienne Bodet et est œnologue de formation, issu d'une famille de vignerons il décide de monter son propre domaine en 2017, influencé par son passage chez Pierre Gerbais et par sa certitude que son terroir est parfait pour les bulles il propose avec sa femme des bulles en négoce sous le nom de Bodet-Herold. Des bulles précises, gourmandes, gastronomique qui n'ont pas à pâlir devant le travail Champenois. Mais la cuvée dont nous parlons aujourd'hui est celle du Clos Durandiere en Saumur rouge, issu d'un réel clos de mur de 1.3ha concentré en 9 rangs. Le socle de Calcaire du Bathonien sur lequel repose le clos à séduit Étienne. Fervent défenseur du Cabernet Franc il est certain de l'harmonie entre ce terroir et ce cépage. En cave, son parc de barrique issu de son expérience au Clos Rougeard lui offre un outil magnifique pour élever son Cabernet et en faire sur 2020 une cuvée gourmande, avec un volume aromatique énorme apporté par la barrique tout en gardant cette fraîcheur à la ligérienne. Ayant eu un véritable coup de cœur pour le Domaine Clot de L'Oum, ils ont repris les rênes de ce petit vignoble, certifié bio depuis plus de deux décennies pour y perpétuer une viticulture respectueuse du terroir et de la nature. Avec patience et humilité, ils cultivent des Carignan, Syrah, Grenache (pour les rouges), Carignan Gris, Macabeu et Grenache Gris (pour les blancs) sur des sols granitiques. Ceux-ci sont vinifiés avec une dose minimale de soufre et offrent des vins au taux d'alcool modéré, d'une belle minéralité et d'une grande fraîcheur particulièrement digestes. Attention, avec seulement environ 22 000 bouteilles par an produites, d'un excellent rapport qualité/prix, il risque de ne pas y en avoir pour tout le monde ! I de kommende solrige og varme måneder foretrækker jeg oftest de lidt mere lette og friske vine som virkeligt fremstår flot når de bliver let afkølet. I dag blev det en Le Paradou, som kommer fra vinhuset Chateau Pesquie i Languedoc, Frankrig 🇫🇷 Vinen er på ren Granache, som etiketten afslører. I glasset er vinen flot rubinrød. Duften har tydelige noter af modne mørke bær, lidt kirsebær og en smule vanilje til sidst. I munden får man straks nogle rigtigt flotte tanniner og en god tørhed, uden det bliver voldsomt. Syren sætter godt gang i mundvandet og hele vinen rundes af med lidt frugtsødme og en smule peber.
