I will say this once more. If something happens to you, whatever the situation might be. It is a "blessing in disguise ". In February something happened and I was lost for words, I was stressed, crying, panic attack and everything. Husband was there for me the whole time like he always is, and told me that saying. Also told me everything would be alright and would fall into place. Since then I've been taking care of my health in general and my mental health. I've been doing so good and being more positive and being more "me". I mean yes, I obviously still have my days which is totally normal let's be honest. But I am proud of me and the way I've been handling more "stressful" situations. I've honestly come a long way in the last 2 months. We have a cycle every 7 years. Mine should finally be over on Saturday. (my birthday). I cannot wait to see where life takes me (us, hubby and me). But it is one day at a time and we will see. Being positive and having faith is the way to go. Just remember, the universe doesn't give you something that you cannot handle. Be proud of yourself as well. Life is hard. WHAT TO DO? 💭 Jeetje mineetje, dat reïntegreren is toch een dingetje. Ik weet heel goed wat ik wil, waar ik dan een opleiding voor zou volgen, alleen zijn er minimale tot geen vacatures in die functie. Wat doe je dan? Ga je dan toch de opleiding volgen, in de hoop dat je in de toekomst misschien een keer kan solliciteren op die geliefde functie? En dat je dan in de tussentijd een andere baan erbij hebt? Terwijl je na 10 jaar een eerste stap terug zet in de maatschappij, wat op zich al best pittig is, of.... Laat je de boel even de boel en zet je überhaupt die eerste stap weer terug in de maatschappij en zie je vanuit daar weer verder? Ik hoor in mijn omgeving de reactie, dat als je iets echt heel graag wil, je er dan voor moet gaan. En daar ben ik het zeker mee eens, alleen wel tot een bepaalde hoogte. Als je overal een NEE krijgt, is die stelling niet meer zo simpel. Ik blijf natuurlijk positief en geef ook niet zomaar op, alleen is het ook belangrijk om reëel te zijn. Je kan niet alles alleen maar op wilskracht doen, er komen vaak ook andere factoren bij kijken. Althans, bij mij wel.. Belastbaarheid, concentratievermogen en mijn energielevel, zijn dingen waar ik rekening mee moet houden of nog aan het opbouwen ben. Ik zit natuurlijk niet voor niets in een reïntegratie-traject! Dus welke keuze ga ik dan maken? En ja, ik snap dat als ik nu een keuze maak, dat dat dan niet voor de rest van mijn leven hoeft te zijn. Toch wil ik wel graag een keuze maken, die ook nu goed voelt. At my @mainstreetypn Committee meeting last week we had a panel with some of Mainstreet's past 20 Under 40 award winners where they spoke about what they wish they knew in their first year of business. This got me thinking about when I started as a real estate agent and how far I've come. I thought I would share some of the things I wish I knew when I first started. 1. The real estate market has highs and lows, and the good times don't last forever. I was in the business for about 4 months when I experienced my first spring market. Not only was it springtime which is usually the peak of the real estate market, but this was also 2022 when rates were low and everyone was buying and selling homes. I had a great first quarter and I thought that was what I could always expect. Well the joke was on me when fall and winter came and my business slowed down incredibly. What I have learned since then is to ride the waves of the market. When business slows down, this is the time to breathe and prepare for the busy times. 2. We all have the same goal, and that is getting our clients to the finish line. Whether you are the listing agent, buyer's agent, attorney, or lender, your #1 goal should be to help your clients get to the closing. Sometimes this means having to do your own job, plus someone else's. Sometimes everyone works together seamlessly to get the job done. Regardless of the situation, as the agent you always have to be on your toes and make sure that everyone is doing what they're supposed to, to ensure your clients reach that end goal. 3. As a real estate agent, you aren't clocking into work for 8 hours, and you don't have a boss to tell you what you should be doing for the day. You have to have a strict schedule and the discipline to not only say no when you need to, but to also sit down and work when you need to. Time management is so important because it is so easy to let the day slip by and let everyday tasks get in the way. I haven’t uploaded in a while it was starting to feel like a job instead of a pleasure taking a picture of a card from my collection everyday. So I took a break. Speaking about jobs I feel extremely privileged with the perks I get from mine and that I get to build on my Pokémon card collection and I know others aren’t so lucky. I went to see @benfogle give a talk last night. As a long term fan, I’d been looking forward to it for ages. My friend said to me that I’m an unlikely fan girl given he is posh and outdoorsy and I am neither! However, I find his outlook, mindset and energy so inspiring. He talked about binary definitions of success and how it took him a long time to overcome his gremlins and be his authentic confident self and that’s what chimes with me the most. I always felt like I wasn’t good enough because I couldn’t be like everyone else and yet I measured my worth using their success metrics. Arguably, I’m more successful now than I’ve ever been - not in terms of metrics, money, promotion, or status but in terms of the things I’ve pushed myself to do. - posting on social media and putting myself out there - Gaining a new qualification, publishing my book and doing my first TEDx talk. None of these have come with an elevated title or financial gain. But for me personally they symbolise how far I’ve come with my self confidence and what you can achieve when you believe in yourself. Ben said one of the people he visited told him to aim for ‘more life in his days, not more days in his life’. This has really resonated with me. We are only here for a short time and I’m struck by wanting to leave a legacy. Because once we get to the end, that’s it. Metrics measure the result, and by then you’ve missed all the fun part. DIY MOM was deemed a bad idea, yet here I am a decade later, standing tall with my toolkit and a smile. As a single mom with a 1.5-year-old and a marketing assistant job in Halifax, my ideas were dismissed. In spare moments, I dreamt of my personal brand, drew a logo, and designed a website. With my toddler on my hip, I pitched a TV series idea combining YouTube and HGTV at the Women in Film and Television contest. Didn't win, but I put my idea out into the world. At home, during my 2-year-old's nap, I honed skills for my DIY journey—operating a camera, editing content. The chance to buy my first home arose, taking a step toward a bigger vision. 📸✂️ Mansplaining ensued when I took on roles of contractor and designer. Every error was a lesson, each hurdle a chance to grow. This is my education, my journey—an investment in confidence. 🏗️📚 Bell Fibe TV1 asked if I wanted to share my journey. So, I gathered a team, produced, edited, marketed, and promoted my show in true DIY fashion. Doubt persisted; haters pressed on. Faced the choice: listen to doubters or continue building the envisioned life. 💻📺 Today, my story stands as a testament to resilience. Running my own design and renovation company, filming for beloved brands, living with my 10-year-old in our dream home.
