Recién terminado uno de los que tenía empezados. Segundo libro de la saga Blackwater. Me están encantando. Así como el primero era más la presentación de los personajes, de Perdido y del río... en este ya comenzamos a entrar más en la trama. Me encata la guerra de poder constante entre Elinor y MaryLove.Elinor me parece un personaje inquietante y del que tengo bastante curiosidad por saber cómo sigue evolucionando. Por otro lado, MaryLove es un personaje odioso pero que al mismo tiene sus momentos en los que no sabes muy bien si seguir odiandola o quererla un poco... Vosotros os quedáis con Elinor o Mary Love? También es cierto que un personaje que me ha sorprendido para bien ha sido Sister. Me ha gustado muchísimo más que en el primero, aunque creo que seguirá sorprendiendo en algún momento más adelante de esta saga. Este libro ha estado cargado de más tensión que el 1, manteniendo su intriga y con algún que otro momento divertido. Le doy 4/5 A vosotros qué os ha parecido? Currently reading and thoroughly enjoying The List of Suspicious Things by Jennie Godfrey. Set in 1979 Yorkshire, the story is centered around Miv, a teenage girl who decides to investigate the Yorkshire murders because she believes finding the Yorkshire Ripper will prevent her family from moving down south. The Happy Couple by Naoise Dolan was the first book I read this month. It was a quick and enthralling read, I finished it in just two days (when I was incredibly busy and in a reading slump). The story is told in the point of view of four characters: the bride, the bridesmaid, the best man and the groom. You quickly figure out they aren’t much of a happy couple at all. It was at times frustrating to read about the characters decisions or actions but it does show the importance of communication. I quite enjoyed this one and am looking forward to read Exciting Times soon as well! If you are looking for a novel with similar vibes, I recommend Piglet as well. I finished Piglet yesterday and it was a good read! Piglet is about a 31-year-old woman with the childhood nickname everyone still uses: Piglet. She’s serious about food and about to marry the perfect man, but is he really? The novel is quite gripping and I had a hard time putting it down. My cosy plan in my spare time this week (at least if I get some of that). I got a hundred pages into Wolf Hall, really enjoying it but haven’t found a lot of time to read lately. My first reads of 2024! Othello and Diary of a Void. I love Shakespeare and while Othello has its merits, it’s not one of my favourite Shakespearean plays. The premise of Diary of a Void is truly captivating: Ms. Shibata decides to tell her coworkers that she’s pregnant to avoid constantly having to do menial tasks like clearing away the dirty coffee mugs. The advantages were undeniable but the line between fiction and reality started to blur. Voy con mi segunda lectura de este año 2024. Debo decir que me encanta la novela policíaca y novela negra. Este libro lo he leído en 2 días. Trata de los cambios en la criminología en Viena a finales de 1893. La forma que tiene el autor de hacer las descripciones es de 10. Si has estado en Viena te hace revivir los escenarios y sino has estado te teletransporta a través de las palabras. La historia está muy bien narrada de principio a fin. Siguiendo un hilo donde con cada página hace querer saber más. Me enganchó desde el mismo prólogo y eso hace mucho tiempo que no pasaba. Libro que os recomiendo 100%. Mi nota es de 4'5/5 Leeré el segundo pero cuando lo saquen en edición de bolsillo... no me gusta cambiar las ediciones de los libros jajajajaja @oliverpotzsch Os dejo la sinopsis: "Misterio, venganza y muerte en la Viena de 1893. I was peer pressured into reading Shark Heart. Only semi joking 😜 I actually took this book out when it first came out but didn’t get a chance to read it and someone had it on hold so I had to return it. I didn’t think a story about a man turning into a shark and how his wife moves on without him would hit me so hard but it did. 🥲 This story was a love story but not just between a husband and a wife but a mother and her daughter and what we do to get up everyday and survive even after so much heartbreak has come our way. 🦈🩷 He was an aimless kite in search of a string to ground him to the world, but instead, he’d found Wren, a great, strong wind who’d supported his exploration of the sky #decemberreads #sharkheart #readhappy #mandireads

Remembrance Day Lest we forget. I saw this book a in a bookshop in September, I decided not to spend too much money and left it there. It has been on my mind ever since and I decided to get it this week after all. It’s been a long time since I have read a book I simply could not put down. In Memoriam is very captivating and already made me cry halfway through. The First World War will always have a hold on me and it feels fitting to read this book on the 11th of November. It’s heartbreaking that not enough people learn from the past and keep repeating the same mistakes. That said, even though I haven’t finished this one yet I can already say it will be a new favourite. I will finish this book today, there is nothing else I’d rather do than devouring this brilliant novel today.
