The characters were so well written that they all invoked different emotions from me as the reader. Little reading update ☺️ I’m currently 80% through ‘Keeping 13.’ And oh my god… yesterday I had to take so many breaks while reading this book because otherwise I would be crying like a baby for 30 minutes. I ate it up like I had never read a fantasy book before- which really might just be a sign to go on a fantasy binge soon. Years ago I realized that for the past 4-5 years of my life I had been extremely depressed and basically on autopilot in my life. The thing that woke me up to the reality of my life and mental state was that I hadn't had the passion to write or tell stories. That terrified me, and that night I sat in front of the computer, opened Youtube, and went to a Lofi Hip-hop channel and sat down and started to write a story. I opened a word doc and called it Chapter 1. The main character was called MC for Main Character, haha, and I needed to escape this depression and mindset I found myself in, so I put MC in a prison camp where he needed to escape. Six chapter later, he had escaped from the orc infested camp, and life became a little brighter. I still didn't have that passion back to write, but that first night, I vowed to write this story until I found that passion again. It took about three months, but that passion came back and I was able to break free from my depression. Five years later and I am sitting here doing rewrites on my third book and found myself listening to that same channel. Life has drastically changed, but because of my writing, I found my purpose and that has helped me to continue to push forward and stand tall throughout these years. reckless girls 🌺 by. rachel hawkins 4⭐️ I feel like we’re past due for me to start using my large collection of my live plant children and this was the perfect book to add in one of my golden pothos 🌿 anywho: I’m really shocked by how much I enjoyed this. I was craving a thriller and picked this one up that’s been on my shelf for far too long. The plot isn’t groundbreaking and neither was the twist but it was so so entertaining. I loved the vibes, I loved the setting. If you’re rotting on the beach this summer (absolutely no pun intended 💀) I highly recommend you bring this with you. It’s the perfect little book to dive into and I read it in less than four hours so it’s the perfect length for a vacation read and not too long winded. I will definitely be checking out more books by this author because I enjoyed the writing and the pacing. My only critique : I had to look up the age of the author because there is just no way someone in their twenties would write other twentysomething’s dialogue this way. how about a #whatthisweek since i was too tired to post a #shelfiesunday yesterday? Last week was so draining now that I’m looking back on it, the week started with my sweet & precious (but reactive) doggo having to go into the vet, under double anesthesia and getting- not one, not three but five teeth removed and I severely underestimated how his recovery would go based on how our other dogs have handled surgeries so I was basically babysitting a drunk crying dog for about 36 hours with minimal sleep 🥲- once he felt good enough to not need constant pets and no longer crying I had to prep for a weekend vendor fair for my small business! While it was still tiring, it’s what I enjoy doing and I got through 4 audiobooks in three days! 🤩 So this coming week: 📚 what am I reading: -okay buckle up, I’m finally about to finish Heartless by Elsie Silver, still working on my buddy read with @bookswithalibra- What the River Knows & listening to Three to get Deadly! Cryoshell Update: Well I reached the goal of doing 10,000 words edited this week and have crossed into 102k edited. With 29 Chapters done I have 14 Chapters left and them some touch ups to do in the book with what some Alpha readers have suggested. Overall its been a thrilling journey and its been a blast to develop and watch this story come to life. As I've said in the past, one of the hardest things to write is a plot twist. You don't want to tell the audience what's coming exactly, but you want to give them just enough clues for them to pick up on things along the way so when the reveal hits, they'll love it and be able to see that it was plausible. A plot twist is not just something completely out of left field to catch the audience off guard. With that, I've taken that and worked to incorporate multiple plot twists into Cryoshell. The tricky part is to set it up, but to also watch out for your pacing. There were moments when adding the clues or reveals made the scenes more clunky or worse they completely took the story in its own direction instead of just moving the story forward and complementing it as a whole. Its been a really fun balance to learn! Now be on the look out. Should be around May 10th to 15th that I will send out a form on Tiktok, Facebook and Instagram to sign up for the Beta Reading of Cryoshell. With that I will need help on any and all feedback so that I can do my final rounds of edits and then get it out to my editor. ~mini reviews~ Books I’ve recently finished: THE INMATE: This is a story about a nurse who works at a maximum security prison… where her ex boyfriend is incarcerated…. And she’s the one who put him there. It was very fast paced, kept my attention during the audio, and there was a nice little twist… it was a solid thriller. Was it better or as good as The Housemaid? No, but I’m still glad I read it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ SADIE: great YA mystery, so easy to follow along with on audio. She goes on a hunt to find who killed her sister and the book is a multi- POV between Sadie and a podcast. Sadie is a badass and her grit, determination, and journey was so good to read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ QUEEN OF SHADOWS: I’m re-reading this series because I was in a huge reading slump and this series is a comfort for me. This might be my ~favorite~ book in the series. It’s really her series takes off and Celeana’s journey start to rev up. There is so much action, so much romance, and you can’t help but love all the characters in this series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Books I’m currently reading: 🎧THREE DARK CROWNS: I legit just started this one yesterday so not far into at all but I’m excited for it! 📖FUNNY STORY: I’m almost done this one and it’s amazing. It might be my favorite, or at least up there with Happy Place!

É tão cativante como a autora descreveu cada pormenor cada sentimento, que até eu queria ser cavaleira e ter dragões apesar de provavelmente não sobreviver ao parapeito sequer, chorei tanto no fim..🥹 Na chama de ferro é possível ver uma grande transformação no Xaden ele simplesmente atira-se de cabeça para proteger a Violet a qualquer custo, tendo em conta tudo o que se passava à volta deles. I’ve been loving ambient/atmospheric music while reading this week 🥰 Obsessing: ✿ Jellybean - thanks to @always.booking.it for our resident groundhog’s name🥰 I love seeing him putz around out backyard ✿ Barkley’s scuba suit - Barkley got surgery last week (a dental and benign tumor removals) and he’s in a body suit to keep his stitches safe until they come out — and I can’t get over how adorable he looks in what we call his scuba suit (although tbh I think he’s embarrassed by it😅) 🫶🏻 Rec’ing: ✿ Walking pad - if you’ve contemplated getting a walking pad, I highly recommend!! I love that it’s right on the other side of my desk and I can sneak steps in throughout the day, and even get a light jog going ✿ Hurkle-durkle’ing - if you saw my post for a bit ago, you already know I love to hurkle durkle (even though it’s also really hard for me to just “be”) — even taking a few minutes to just be mindful and present is so powerful🙏🏻 💁🏻♀️ Treating: ✿ The Book of Mormon - hubby took me and his best friend to see this show last weekend, and it was so good! April started out great and ended decently reading-wise, but the middle was very meh. Nonetheless, cheers to another #progresspile! 🌲 I finished The Other Family Doctor by Karen Fine (audiobook). I appreciated this window into the life and mind of a veterinarian and all of her insights on the ways animals can teach us about love and mortality and being human. 🌳 I read Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead. This crime drama turned out to be much slower and more atmospheric than I expected - it's an interesting portrait of Harlem in the 60s, but it didn't really ever grip me. 🌲 I finished Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal. I LOVED this book, which was a surprise for me. I had no idea how funny and entertaining but also deep and heartfelt a story about Punjabi widows in a writing class could be. I want to be friends with all of these women. 🌱 I started The Age of Magical Overthinking by Amanda Montell. So far, I'm enjoying it because the topic of psychology and Montell's writing are my favorites, but nothing is blowing my mind yet. We shall see. 🌿 I'm two-thirds through Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. Things are finally happening!!! There's real drama and a refused proposal and a revealing letter...now I'm finally getting why people like this book. 🌿 I'm also about two-thirds through Devotions by Mary Oliver. Still loving every second of her sweet, simple, and wise words. 🌳 I read You Made A Fool of Death With Your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi. I wanted to love it so badly, but this one mostly just frustrated me. It's a story of love after tragic loss, but the main characters felt underdeveloped and the way it all went down just didn't sit right with me. 🌳 I read Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe - so glad I finally picked this one up! Their anecdotes and memories of their experience with gender are sometimes funny and sometimes difficult, but always enlightening. . . .
