⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a very heavy emotional book. Even though it was fiction, you knew as you read it was based on true events. I felt for Vianne as she lost so many people close to her, and was still so strong. Isabelle was one of the strongest women I have ever read about. Her bravery, drive and compassion enhanced such a strength of her character. ❔ Do you enjoy historical fiction books? If so, what time period do you enjoy? ❕ My favorite is WW2 • • • • • #books #bookish #booklove #bookaholic #booklife #reading #bookrecommendations #bookworm #bookbujo #bookreview #reading #whatisshereading #bookstagrammer #readingreview #avidreader #novel #newbook #newbookreview #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #readersofinstagram #bookcommunity #bookrecs #goodreads #bookblogger #readbooks #bookcommunity #bookqotd

🍒Funny Story by Emily Henry🍒 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Emily Henry has completely destroyed my heart and put it back together again! I absolutely loved this whole book!!! This book has now become my top favorite EmHen book because of just how much I could relate to it. And I'm not talking about the fake dating my ex-fiancé's, new fiancée's, ex-fiancé part 😅 I could relate to the deeper, sadder parts of the story so well because I am literally a combination of both Daphne and Miles. Let me explain. Daphne - her and I share a lot of the same insecurities, we love/need to meticulously plan our lives weeks ahead of time to feel some semblance of control, we both love books, and we both tend to be pretty cynical. Miles - him and I share almost the exact same complicated, family history (eerily so, it was to the point where I wondered if my entire childhood had been taped and sent to Emily Henry as inspo for this book 😅), we also share a lot of the same insecurities, we can both be pretty lazy, and we've both worked in the fermented beverages field (him - wine, me - wine & beer). It feels so contradicting to say I'm a mixture of both of them with them being so opposite, but hey it is what it is! Aside from it being incredibly relatable to me, Funny Story has me dying to finally visit Michigan (yes, even more so than the other books did) and I loved seeing Daphne and Miles heal and grow together, however unexpectedly. Waning Bay, MI and the people who live there will always have a piece of my heart ❤️ Swipe to see Miles & Daphne vibes and the blurb 💕 What to expect- 📚 Friends to Lovers 🍷 Fake Dating 📚 Found Family 🍷 Small Town 📚 Opposites Attract 🍷 Forced Proximity My New EmHen Books Ranking: ✨Funny Story ✨Happy Place ✨People We Meet on Vacation ✨Book Lovers ✨Beach Read What's your favorite Emily Henry book? #funnystory #funnystoryemilyhenry #emilyhenry #emilyhenrybooks #bookreview #romancebookreview #romancebook #romanceera #romancebooks #newbookreview #michigandreaming

Happy Tuesday!!! 😊😊 I'm a little behind with my reviews so I will be posting some of my April reviews the first days of May I guess jajaja. Anyway, "Too Sweet" was a different kind of romance for me because of the bullying the FMC suffers. Usually I try avoiding this kind of things because it upsets me and make me sad💔. But I loved the protectiveness of Nico, and how Mia tries to grow more confident ♥️♥️♥️ . . . . . #books #bookish #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookworm #reading #bookcommunity #iadice #bookaddict #bookrecs #newbookreview #booksummary #bookquotes

#happypubday to @sarahadlerwrites who wrote this absolute gem of a book #happymedium 🥳🥳🥳 Thank you so much to @quercusbooks and @netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review! Gretchen Acorn, a fake spirit medium, is hired by her wealthiest client to help her friend get rid of a ghost so he can sell his house and goat farm. When she arrives at the farm, she is shocked to find a young, hot goat farmer instead of someone as old as her client. Charlie Waybill already thinks Gretchen is a fraud who is conning his friend and definitely doesn’t want her at his house to help with his problem. However, when she goes to leave she is shocked that she can actually see and talk to the resident ghost, Everett. I absolutely loved this book! I loved Gretchen, Charlie, and Everett and their stories! Gretchen and Everett’s friendship literally had me laughing out loud. Watching Everett try to use modern slang in all the wrong ways had me cracking up! I really enjoyed Gretchen and Charlie’s relationship and how it changed throughout the book. I especially loved Gretchen and how she was able to overcome her past in order to move ahead in her life. And also…baby goats. Need I say more?! Definitely recommend picking this one up because it is a new fave of mine for sure! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 What was the last five star read you read? #bookreview #booksta #booktalkers #newbookalert #bookcommunity #readingcommunity #readersofig #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #readersofinsta #newbookreview #fivestarread

Hello lovelies and welcome to my stop on the #booktour for The Duke Wins A Bride by Nina Jarrett @ninajarrettwrites It was released by Rogue Press on 30th May 2022. The tour was organised by @rachelsrandomresources 📖 Review 📖 I want to thank Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for inviting me on this book tour and the author for providing me with a copy of the book. All opinions are my own. The Duke Wins a Bride is a steamy historical romance centring around a marriage of convenience between the feisty Annabel Ridley and Duke Philip Markham. After catching her betrothed in a compromising position with a servant, he refuses to call off the wedding. She turns to his cousin, the Duke of Halmesbury, to talk her betrothed into breaking off the engagement. Instead, he offers her another solution; to marry him. She surprises herself by accepting her attraction to the stranger can’t be denied, but will it grow to the love match she desperately wants? I loved how Annabel and Philip played off each other. They’re very much a grumpy/sunshine pairing. Annabel has never had the airs and graces of nobility, preferring to spend time with servants and riding horses, away from her caustic father. She seems to be brave and bold, but hides her insecurities. After the death of his first wife and their short and disastrous marriage, Philip had become a bit of a hermit, but he sees something in Annabel that brings him out of this shell. A light-hearted read with a fair bit of spice that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end.

#cherrychic #eltiempoquetuvimos #nuevareseña #reseñadelibros #newbookreview #bookreviews #bookstagrammerslatam #bookstagram #booksrecommendations #booksreading #instagrambooks #booksofinstagram #booksbooksbooks #booksforyou #booksforever

*ARC REVIEW* *Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.* I listened to the audiobook and I thought the narrator did a very good job. You could tell the difference between all the characters as she spoke and I almost forgot it was one person doing it. I didn't know what to expect with this one because I was just looking for a fun, summery read. And this was exactly that. There were murder, there was chaos, there were lots of Taylor Swift references, and lots of humor. It was light and airy, while also mysterious. The author wrote this in a unique way. It was like the narrator was talking directly to me every once in a while. I listened to this one, so I'm not exactly sure how that looked on the page, but it felt like a fourth wall break, which is so much fun to me. The vibes of this book kind of reminded me of Knives Out/Glass Onion in the way that solving murder/attempted murders is a serious thing, but there was no shortage of humor to make the book feel less daunting and more fun. I enjoyed this style. 🔍 Whodunnit 🔍 Snarky humor 🔍 Fourth wall breaks 🔍 Light and airy 🔍 Taylor Swift references 🔍 Everyone's a suspect 🔍 Many red herrings It didn't feel like you got to know the characters too well. You knew enough about them to get through the book, but only a handful felt like they were even semi-developed. But this was probably so that the author didn't reveal too much and could keep everyone as a suspect. If you vibe with this book's main character, you'll probably love it. She sounds so much like someone I would befriend in real life and I think that's why I had so much fun. #arc #arcreview #arcbook #arcbookreview #arcreviewer #book #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookstagram #bookish #newrelease #upcomingrelease #newpublication #newbookreview #books #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #booksofinstagram #booksgosocial #everytimeigoonvacationsomeonedies #mystery #mysterybooks #whodunnit #whodunnitbooks

📚 REVIEW 📚 Book - Misery Author - Stephen King Genre - Thriller Rating- 3.5 ⭐️ Format - Physical @fully_booked_book_club book club pick this month! As always, Stephen King's character building is second to none. He has the capability of captivating the reader who will no doubt fall down the misery wormhole. The book started off really well, and I was engrossed. However, as the story went on, I started to lose interest. If you've read King's books before, you'll know the man loves his words. Misery is no different. It's a really good thriller with some disturbing parts throughout. Definitely not for the faint-hearted! Qotd - Stephen King fan? 💛BOOK REVIEW! 💛 This is the sequel to Beauty Reborn by @lizlowham! This book was a joy to read! It was a bit difficult to get into Astra's story at first, since she isn't the most likeable character at the end of Beauty Reborn, but I really enjoyed seeing her become a better person throughout the story. Lowham has a way of writing characters that makes you feel like you're reading the inner thoughts of an actual person, and it's spectacular. As for Dust, I loved him right away. I always have a soft spot for characters who choose to be kind despite their circumstances, and Dust is my favorite kind of quiet hero. I don't always find switching between POVs to be necessary, but the technique is used well here, since each perspective gives you more information than you would've received otherwise. The worldbuilding was fantastic as well. I was a bit thrown off by all the surreal details of the fairy realm at first, but I got used to it and enjoyed those passages just as much as those set in Everspring. The magic system established in Beauty Reborn was greatly expanded upon with new information that fits in with the story's themes of rebirth and redemption nicely. I was pretty invested in the story by the end, and the ending was rather satisfying since it wrapped up some plot points left open in the previous book. There were also a lot of funny moments as well. I adored the animal characters, especially Bumble. I would definitely give this story a try, as long as you've read the first book first! Astra Remade is a worthy sequel that takes the first book and makes everything about it even better. Book Review Time!!! Book: Full Throttle Author: @author.re.bond Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆/5 Let's start with saying I've found my new favourite genre of books... Biker romances!! This book was everything I could have ever asked for in a biker romance. There was perfect balance between stupid, Golden Retriever biker boys (Rio...) but also the caring, loving side of the boys that Skyler brought out in them. I absolutely adored how Skyler's character was portrayed. How her anxiety was so hightened at the littlest of things, this is something I never really saw in books. While reading her story, it was like she was a real human being who felt the same way us readers feel every day. This was so powerful to read!!! As someone who wants to be a biker in the next few years and is planning on getting their licence, this book really tickled that biker part of my brain, which I loved 😍 I will now be going into my R.E. Bond reading cave. If you need me, I will be reading every book that has been released by this amazing author!! #bookreview #bikerbooks #bikerbookromance #fullthrottle #authorrebond #newbooks #newbookreview #bookrecommendations #bookrecs

Let me know if you like this idea and want to see more of it 🥰 Restless Stars Zodiac Academy 9 Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶 Review: this was the perfect end to the series! I must admit I was starting to lose a little faith that this series would have a satisfying ending but I'm so glad to have been proved wrong! In my opinion everything was wrapped up perfectly and it was done in such a high stakes way where I honestly had know idea what was going to happen. This book had me on the edge of my seat constantly. I was stressed! I laughed, I cried (alot) and although I was ready for this series to end I'm sad that it has. There was a lot less spice in this one but what was there was great. There was so much action and facing death though that spice didn't always fit in appropriately. Bride Review 👰🏼‍♀️💍: • After reading the love hypothesis and love theoretically I instantly loved Ali Hazelwood. Going into reading this I knew it was different than her other books. For this to be my first fantasy book, and it was by her, for me, it missed the fantasy aspect. I grew up reading Harry Potter, Lord of the rings, etc. so I had some ideas of what I expected a fantasy book to entail ….this was not that. • For one, the entire scent/ smell thing was a whole plot in this book and after a few chapters in I’m like okay we get it • The third act breakup was unnecessary. There could have been a conversation, like adults without gaslighting then hurting my feelings and being like “you’re wrong” 😑 • The overuse of the word KNOT was KNOT it for me at all. • It also missed the mark for the romance aspect for me , take away the scent, take away the whole mortal enemies and fated lovers , what would be the reason you stay together? • Misery also had something smart to say to everything and that was distasteful for me because why are we trying too hard. From my understanding of fantasy the FMC is pretty independent, she’s fierce , she’s not this helpless woman who can’t do anything for herself and constantly needs saving. • What I did enjoy was we got to Misery be able to thrall which I thought was cool. • I enjoyed Lowe being able to step into his role as a brother and a father . • 3.5/5 ⭐️ • #bookreviewing #bridealihazelwood #newbookreview #fantasybookreview #fantasyromancenovel #fantasyromancebooks #newbookstagrammer #newbookstagram #romancelover #romancebookstagrammer #romancebookclub #blackgirlsreadtoo #blackbookstagrammer #blackbookblogger #bookishthoughts #bookishfollow #bookstagramers #smallbookstagram #smallbookstagrammer

Growing up watching Bollywood romances, I’ve often found myself swept away by the grand gestures of the male lead, lost in the whirlwind of dramatic love stories. But with maturity, I’ve started to question: do these fantastical tales of love truly reflect reality? but it’s this very thought that drew me to You Belong With Me, hoping to see a glimpse into love’s complexities beyond the silver screen. Siddharth is overloaded with ambitions and responsibilities when he meets Alia, sparking a new chapter in his life. Despite memories of his past love, Siya, Siddharth finds himself drawn to Alia, gradually succumbing to his emotions. Unbeknownst to him, Alia is suffering from a heartbreak of her own. The two kindred spirits find solace in each other until the weight of familial expectations and the allure of a promising future begin to strain their connection. I feel the author has a potential to rise to the ranks of literal stardom with a bit of honest criticism. So here it is : The book’s breezy writing style makes it an easy read. It feels effortless, perfect for someone dipping their toes into the world of novels for the first time. However, this simplicity carries over to the plot, which unfolds in a predictable way. I craved more depth, but then that’s just me. While the poetry exudes beauty, its integration with the prose feels disjointed. Additionally, while Alia and Sid’s characters are crafted with depth, they occasionally come across as immature in their portrayal. Maybe that can be owed to falling in love. We all become stupid. While I did find aspects of the book enjoyable, I must admit that it didn’t fully capture my heart. 🌱 Book Review 🌱 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “There was no one here I could trust. Who would choose the truth over our fathers and brothers and friends. A legacy, bestowed on us.” Daughter Of Mine captured me. It’s a thriller…but atmospheric. The house has an essence and personality. I can vividly imagine that dark lake and the things hidden within its depth. The murder mystery kept me guessing and had me flipping those pages. But also simultaneously savoring the slow unearthing, both literally and figuratively, of the past. This is a peek into a family, a community, and the history of both. Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeny 🪨🗞️✂️ Book review 📚: I recently read Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeny and this is a story about a couple who is on a weekend trip to the Scottish highlands to save their marriage. This weekend was supposed to be their last chance to save their failing marriage. But things don't go as planned. The thing is, you know how the environment , the surrounding plays such a vital role in building up to a good thriller? All of the descriptions that help with your imagination are so wholesome in the book.🤌🏻 It sets a mood early. You know it's going to be dark and unpredictable.🌑⛰️ Reading the book you have no idea what's going to happen. And that's what fed to my excitement. It was very clear that both, Adam and Amelia, had an agenda against each other, on which they were going to act upon. I genuinely thought that this was the story. At the end either Amelia or Adam was going to be the only survivor. I just didn't know that there were so many twists lined up for me that were going to blow my mind.🤯 The story is so intricately woven that it was very hard to decipher the correct ending. The story unfolds methodically and till the last page the twists keep coming at you. There are no Easter eggs throughout the book, trust me I tried to find them, but was unfortunately unsuccessful. And that's what makes it so more appealing. Alice Feeny has done a remarkable job with this book and I am so excited to read more of her books, if this is any indication. 5/5 ⭐🌟✨ #lazy_readers_book_review #bookreview2024 #tbr2024 #newbookreview #book #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #bookcommunity #rockpaperscissors #rockpaperscissorsbyalicefeeney #bookstagramindia #bookreview #bookreviews #bookreviewer

Mini book review … from a book I read in October 🙈 Thanks @berkleypub for the digital copy! Author: Simone St. James Author of: The Sun Down Motel, The Book of Cold Cases, & more! Pages: 341 Genre: Paranormal Thriller Published on: 3/5/24 Rating: 3.5⭐️ Swipe to read the book synopsis! 👍🏻 -creeeeepy! Read with a light on😜 -queen of supernatural stories strikes again👻 -Loved the snell sisters. They were such fun side characters! -the 2 main characters were likable -twisty ending 👎🏻 -wished for a little more info at the end? Wrapped up quickly. -I know you have to suspend belief with supernatural stuff, which I love. But I felt like I also had to suspend belief with how the police officers worked… which I didn’t love Although I have enjoyed her other books a bit more, I still highly recommend reading this one! Perfect if you’re wanting something eerie 🫣 What is your favorite St. James book⁉️ If you haven’t read any, what are your thoughts on paranormal elements in a book⁉️

*ARC REVIEW* The Corner of Her Eye by @jjcarpenterauthor *Thank you to the author for the arc copy in exchange for an honest review.* 4.5 ⭐ rounded up. As I was reading this book, I kept thinking about all the research the author must have had to put into writing this book between the Australian history and the paranormal aspects. The author didn't cut any corners and there were no unexplainable plot holes. Fantastic writing by the author on a very creepy subject. I don't read a ton of paranormal books, but when I read the blurb of this one I was super intrigued and the book did not disappoint. It was realistic and creepy. I kept imagining myself as the main character because I really liked her and I think that she and I would react similarly in some situations. She was beyond brave. One big difference between Charlie and me, I don't think I'd stay at the cottage. Her curiosity was so much fun. I was glad that I could hide behind the page while she did all the hard work though! I loved all of the characters. Tessa was such a good friend to Charlie. I was glad that Charlie had someone like her to lean on. Trent was also such a curious sweetheart, he was one of my favorite parts of the book. I was also very intrigued by the psychiatrist that Charlie was seeing. The characters were all well developed, relateable, and realistic. 👻 Paranormal 👻 Australian History 👻 Horror 👻 Suspenseful 👻 Mystery The author also perfectly portrayed the main character and her struggles to start her life over in a new place. It can be a lonely thing to do and the desperate desire to fit in in this new place is strong. I could feel that with the main character. I loved the twists at the ending. It was so emotionally charged and the cliffhanger has me so ready to get my hands on the next one. #arc #arcreview #arcbook #arcbookreview #arcreviewer #book #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookstagram #bookish #newrelease #upcomingrelease #newpublication #newbookreview #jjcarpenter #cornerofhereye #horror #horrorbooks #paranormal #paranormalbooks #thriller #thrillerbooks #books #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #hauntedhousebooks #booksofinstagram

THE HEMLOCK QUEEN: a spoiler-free review 👑 RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Phew, I’ve got some real mixed feelings on this one, which honestly disappoints me a bit. Lets get into it: The Foxglove King was one of my absolute favorite reads of 2023, and I was so eagerly awaiting the sequel. I loved the gothic feel, the unique magic, the mysterious connection to the gods and the deeply flawed but still realistic main trio. The Hemlock Queen felt like it capitalized on the things I enjoyed... but didn’t build on them for quite a long time into the story. To be more specific, I found myself really drudging through about the first 60%, wondering where it was going and why it didn’t seem to be getting there faster. I eventually even found myself feeling frustrated with things I previously liked, like the will-they-won’t-they romance dynamic between Lore & Bastian, as well as Lore & Gabe. Entering the last 40%, things picked up drastically. We had a lot of reveals about the old gods, their connections to our characters, how they came to be, and how their allegiances to one another shaped and later changed. I adored this, and still wish it had happened all throughout the book instead of in a few dumps in the last 40%. From there, A lot of quick decisions are made, and all of them have drastic impacts on the plot. Again, I really enjoyed the way these things moved along and felt surprised and intrigued all over again about how well-developed this world is, especially regarding the religion and the complexities of the gods as imperfect beings. Ultimately, I think this just had really bad middle-book syndrome for me. The last half was so good that I will definitely be returning to the series in the future, I just am feeling a bit less enchanted by it than I was after the first book. As always, thank you so very much to Orbit and Netgalley for this eArc! QOTD: have you ever read a sequel that let you down? I officially can’t get enough #sarahtonine because every book I read by her leaves me with so much happiness in my chest! Her characters are so easy to adore, the storylines are so full of real issues and feelings, but the humor and banter is the best! I can’t wait to read more from her! What book by Sarah Adams should I try next? (I’ve read When in Rome, Practice Makes Perfect, Cheat Sheet, and now, The Rule Book)

Happy Friday Eve!!! 😊😊😊 Well... Just like Harari's book Sapiens, this one also got me thinking about humankind and what's next. This book was written several years ago, and it is terrifying to see how a lot of things are already happening... It was no fun reading but it was enlightening and interesting. I do like to read non-fiction just as much any other genre, so if you're into this kind of books, I totally recommend it 😊 * * * * #books #bookrecommendations #bookrecs #bookreview #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #reading #readersofinstagram #goodreads #booklover #bookworm #bookaddict #bookpost #bookquotes #yuvalnoahharari #homodeus #newbookreview #newbookrecommendation

Set over a three-decade period of American history in the 1800s, the story leads us on a journey through incidents of love, loyalty, bigotry and redemption. The story has horrific incidents at its core and is very dark at times but ultimately hope takes over each time. The characters have their strong voices and leave the reader to ponder over many prejudices. The author transports readers to 1841 Midwest, immersing them in a world of duplicity and struggle. A mother and daughter fight against abandonment and starvation. Moreover, while capturing the intricate web of relationships of Sarah and Hiram whose love is forbidden, and Eva and Uriah who open the door to forgiveness tell us an unforgettable story of the indomitable human spirit. Broughman enlightens his reader to some very unfortunate and disturbing details during the mid-1800’s around slavery, incest, draft evasion and religious hypocrisy. The issues with extreme trauma that too in different points of view left me gasping for clean air. The pain the prose inflicts upon the reader is too much at times. But it was the fast pace that kept me glued to the book till the end. Chad Broughman’s first novel did not disappoint me. I am extremely elated to be an advanced reader for this piece. Thank you @netgalley @chadvbroughman for this book.

✨Book Review✨ The Ever Queen by L.J. Andrews ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 🌶️🌶️ This will be a quick review because I don’t have much to say about this book. I was so excited to read more about the Ever King and Queen. I was disappointed that there seems to be a killjoy amount of copy and paste spicy scenes. Even if the passion between Erik and Livia is 🥵 And, the over use of word selection, as if the author couldn’t pick just one word to describe something. I did give extra points for finally addressing the chasm. But, it was a little late for me to fully appreciate. I still love these characters. Especially Erik, Livia, Jonas, and Celine. I’m definitely considering The Mist Thief, which is Jonas and Skadi’s story in book 3. But… I really want Celine’s story! Book review!!! The Baby By A J McDine I absolutely loved this brilliant fast paced, twisty psychological thriller. So well written the story just flows off the pages & was easy to get into. This is definitely one that’s hard to put down once you start as it really holds you as it’s so addictive. A compelling intriguing read with so many twists & secrets spilling out. Lucy who the story revolves around, as yet again woken up in a drunken stupor. She has no memory of where she’s been or how she got home. This loss of memory is happening all too often after she has spent the night drinking. It started the day the doctors told her she would never have a child. She manages to contain the drinking a little when her husband Miles is home from the oil rig. She drinks to forget the heartbreak of never having a child & the fact she is not happy with her life or her husband Miles either.. This morning feels different though she was woken by a noise downstairs & she knows it’s not Miles as he is on the oil rig. Was that a babies cries she heard or is her imagination playing tricks on her. Going downstairs to investigate she can’t believe what she is seeing. In the middle of the living room is the most gorgeous baby lying in one of her wooden drawers. Her jaw drops as her first thoughts are what have I done now. Thoroughly enjoyed this excellent read it was a definite page turner for me. #newbooks #newbookalert #newbookreview #newbookrelease #igbookreview #igbookstagram #instaauthor #bookloversofinstagram #booklifestyle #bookloversalways #readersgonnaread #readabook #mustread #bookstoread

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚 Sleep Tight by J. H. Markert I really enjoyed this super fast paced dark thriller/horror. When Father Silence, a serial killer who dressed as a priest to lure his victims, is executed, the detectives who were responsible for his arrest are found murdered by a new killer calling himself the Outcast. Tess, a detective herself, has blocked out what happened all those years ago when her father arrested Father Silence. The Outcast soon kidnaps Tess's daughter and Tess must finally recall her hidden memories to find her daughter before it is too late. This novel has a bit of everything, serial killers, kidnapping, cults, addiction, childhood trauma and creepy masks. The book has great pacing and is full of action and plenty of suspense to keep the reader guessing until the end. I will definitely check out some other books by this author. I recommend this book for fans of dark thrillers and horror. Thanks @crookedlanebooks @jamesmarkert74 and @netgalley for the copy of this book. Asking for blurbs is tough! But when I asked Quinn Connor (the writing duo consisting of Alex Cronin and Robyn Barrow), to blurb LONG AFTER WE ARE GONE, they did not hesitate.

🫣New Review🫣 The Church Beneath the Roots Felix Blackwell 2024 ⭐️4.5/5⭐️ The Story: On the Cold Valley Indian Reservation, in the shadow of Pale Peak, Onwé Lopez struggles with the past as much as the present. By day, he watches his people abandon the Old Way as they flock to the local church. By night, he dreams of his childhood friend Akántha, who vanished from the rez decades prior. Then, catastrophe strikes: a horrific accident brings a stranger to town with stories of unfathomable death. A ghastly figure wanders the night, peering into houses and terrorizing a tribal elder. Hideous whispers emanate from the nearby caves, beckoning Onwé inside - and promising to return everyone he’s lost. The Review: What a story! I was super excited to read this one after seeing it was the prequel to Stolen Tongues, and it didn't disappoint. While a tad bit slow and a smidgen repeative, the pace and plot overall was really good. This was also pretty creepy, I definitely found myself jumping at random noises while reading this. I liked how this one took place in a Navtie Reservation and how life in the late 60s was portrayed. Miserable, to say the least, which made Pale Peak the perfect hunting ground for the Cold Ones. Onwé got on my nerves at times, but he has a good heart, and I felt for him. My bad B Moya is an incredibly strong elder, and that poor woman suffered more than enough. And the ending! I thought the ending was slightly darker than the ending of Stolen Tongues, so I liked that. I would definitely recommend this book and creep or peeper! And that's it! Hope y'all are having a wonderful day, enjoying your current read, and I love you! I realllly wanted to love it. Things were heating up, getting good. The mystery and the characters were evolving. Who’s bad who’s good? -It was all unknown. I was sucked in. HARD. Couldn’t put it down. Then BAM- like a smack in the face, one very blatant clue, and I immediately knew who the villain was. But I kept reading, hoping I was wrong, hoping for more. It couldn’t be that obvious could it? The author would do that, would she? Oh, but she would. And then to top it off the book was just cut short. The villain that was already suggested was revealed, of course it was no revelation, and then the book just ended, followed up with a “Two Years Later” epilogue. So many questions unanswered. So many things implied but left unsaid. What?! Why?! 😭😭😭 Did the author not like her own book and just quit? What happened? I feel played. I’m not happy. It started out SO good….then fell flat like a soda left out on a hot summer day.🥤 Such a disappointment. I’m giving it a 3 stars merely for the first half of the book, but I honestly I can’t recommend it as an addition to your book shelf.

As an adult reading this collection, I went in expecting The Hunger Games and began to be disappointed. However, once I began to take this from the YA dyslit angle, I started to enjoy each tale a bit more. Granted, some are completely unenjoyable for me—and unreadable—like Matthew Kressel’s or Gregory Maguire’s attempts at stories. I ended up loving “Blood Drive” by Jeffrey Ford, who writes of a completely believable dystopian world coming to a school near you where students and teachers legally carry weapons; Carolynn Dunn’s “Before” stands as an ironic masterpiece of revenge and redemption for First Peoples in North America (I won’t reveal why, no spoilers!); “The Segment” by Genevieve Valentine describes the extreme of what “fake news” could become (she may be a prophesying!); and “After The Cure” by Carrie Ryan has a real Walking Dead meets Twilight vibe to it that I really got into. Both the Introduction and Afterword offer a detailed and concise overview of the dystopian and post-apocalyptic literature genres that I think can teach anyone to be a quick expert on the subject. I’ll keep this book on my shelves for the 10 good tales I found entertaining after all. #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booksbooksbooks #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviews #booklover #booklovers #bookloversfollowloop #bibliophile #newbookreview #tbr #tbrpost #tbrpilekeepsgrowing #dystopian #dyslit #dystopianbooks #dystopianliterature #postapocalyptic #apocalypse #apocalypticliterature #postapocalypticliterature #ya #yalit #yaliterature #yalitjunkie #yadystopian #yadystopianfiction #frankielovesbooks

✨️REVIEW | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 •Jawbone by Monica Ojeda •Genre: Horror ⚠️CHECK THE TW FOR THIS ONE ⚠️ 》READ IF YOU: •Have a high threshold for fcked up things •Think teenage girls can be scary •Are intrigued by creepypastas on the internet 》SYNOPSIS: Fernanda and Anneliese are so close that they are practically sisters. Together (mostly Anneliese), they run a clique of girls at the Delta Bilingual Academy where Anneliese has created dangerous rituals to worship a God she has created called Dior. Has the rituals get more and more messed up, Fernanda starts to question if they are going too far. Suddenly, Fernanda finds herself tied up in a deserted cabin, abducted by one of their teachers, and completely estranged from her supposed best friend, Anneliese. How did this happen to her? 》MY REVIEW: You know the song Teenagers by My Chemical Romance? Teenagers truly do scare the living sh*t out of me, especially teenage girls in cliques. Holy crap this was DARK. It was so disturbing and terrifying not because it was your basic "scary horror story." No, this was terrifying because it felt real. A girl becomes obsessed with creating a creepypasta and gaining followers to worship a made-up God and leads her clique of girls to do really messed up and disturbing rituals. It reminded me of Penance by Eliza Clark because it examines the darkside of female friendships beginning in their youth and shows how far girls can go to terrorize and evoke a sense of fear into girls in their clique who do not do what they say. CHILLS MAN LITERAL CHILLS. This was SUCH A GOOD BUDDY READ with my favorite @honkifyouread so check out her review too! 👉🏻QOTD: Have you read any books about teenagers behaving scarily or badly? Review: Star Wars: A Test of Courage By @justina.ireland Release Date: January 5th, 2021 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 – Spoiler Free Review – Kickstarting the middle grade books for Phase I is A Test of Courage! This book is incredibly foundational for later plotlines in The High Republic, while also just being a great story about loss and how we go about dealing with it. As the goal of the #HighRepublicRecap is to prepare the community for The Acolyte, this book introduces the one book character that will actually be making an appearance on the show, Vernestra Rwoh. It all begins here for Vern, with A Test of Courage detailing the first assignment the Jedi Council has assigned her as a Knight. You meet her close friends, who she will continue to interact with for the rest of the book series. It truly is a must read, and great for all audiences! With this review, all my full reviews for this initiative are complete! However, we’re quickly approaching May the 4th, which will have review releases for every short story in Tales of Light and Life (Including Vernestra’s story in there as well!) in which I’ll be covering A Closed Fist Has No Claws. In addition to that, I’ll be reviewing the two brand new Star Wars comic releases for #FCBD and giving my thoughts on Tales of the Empire. Make Mine a Marquess (Daring Ladies, #3) by Tina Gabrielle US pub date - 4/22/24 . . I love historical romances and, really liking the synopsis for this, was fortunate enough to receive an early copy to read. . This gave me inspired-by The Count of Monte Cristo vibes and I eagerly read on, hoping for some intense romantic longing and some steam - there is steam, but not a lot of spice, imo - but it worked for the story. . Some minor issues I had - *a little repetitive early on *the dialogue did not fit the time period *the ending felt rather rushed *there were some unanswered questions at the end of the book . I found this to ultimately be a quick, fun read that I read over two days and it kept me turning the pages. . This was my first time reading the author and I will definitely read her work again. . . . I was going back and forward because honestly there were parts where I was like "okay what is going to be the point of this?" But what happened, specifically at the 78% mark, was wild. This book literally took an insane turn that I did NOT see coming. I read some reviews that were negative because nothing really happened until this point and to that I'd like to remind people: This is not a thriller. It is a psychological and literary suspense with a dark academic setting that is a slow burn. It will not be for everyone, but for those who enjoy these kinds of books, I think the payout will be worth it. 👉🏻QOTD: Have you read this yet or will you be reading it?! Do you enjoy academic settings? In case you can't tell...I love academic settings 😍 • • • • #newbookreleases #newbookreview #newreview #bookrecs #bookrecsofinstagram #bookblogger #bookishcommunity #netgalleyreads #netgalley #literaryfiction #litfic #litficgirly #queerbooks #lgbtqbooks

📚 REVIEW 📚 Book - Never Lie Author - Freida McFadden Genre - Thriller Rating- 3⭐️ Format - Audio I think this will be my last encounter with Freida, no harm chick, but your books just aren't for me. I'm unsure as to whether it's because she is super hyped, but whilst this was a decent audiobook, if I had read it physically, I wouldn't have finished. Out of all her books I've read, though, this is definitely one of her better ones. The story had some good red herrings, but overall, it was a bit predictable in the end. The characters were annoying with their baby speech, major ick. The storyline is compelling enough to keep you reading. The short chapters definitely helped, but there was zero shock factor to any of the twists throughout! Don't start on the repetitiveness either plz 🥴 There are definitely more intense and shocking psychological thrillers out there. I do get the author has a great following, so there is no hate here on my behalf! #bookreviews #newbookreview #lovereading #psychologicalthriller #thrillerbooks #thrillerlover #allthingsbookish #bookstalove #bookstauk #readersofinsta #readingcommunity #igreaders #booksofinstagram #thrillerbooksaddict #readersofinstagram

A Perfect Match (The Cricket Club, #1) by Margaux Thorne US pub date - 4/19/24 . . I don’t generally enjoy the guardian-ward trope but the rest of this synopsis appealed so here we are. . I was surprised by just how much I appreciated and enjoyed the slow buildup between Samuel and Myfanwy - taking the time to show the evolving relationship between the two was perfect for the story. . This was my first time reading Ms Thorne’s work - it definitely won’t be my last, and I’m already looking forward to reading more of this series. . . . Tolerable: Steamy Pride and Prejudice Variation by Darcy Fitzwilliam US pub date - 4/15/24 . . Full speed ahead on this P&P variation. A very quick and easy read, Tolerable, was well written with some interesting variations, and though short in length, addressed some issues I’ve always held with P&P - I found this an overall fun read. . Steam level is very mild and I found it came across awkwardly. Regarding that aspect, in the words of Mr Darcy himself, “tolerable, but not (handsome) enough to tempt me”. If something proclaims itself “steamy”, I expect that. . . . Oxford by Matthew Rice US pub date - 4/16/24 . . I originally thought to read this because CS Lewis’s (a former Oxford professor) works have been a profound influence in my life. . I’m probably a bit of a different reader type for this, considering that I’ve not been able to visit Oxford (it’s on my list of things to do when my family and I take our first visit to England), so seeing the buildings that are so familiar to some was a new experience for me. . This book was a delight - the watercolor paintings and pencil sketches are gorgeous and full of life. As I read a PDF of this, I did have a difficult time with the size of the font ( I imagine the size in the book will be easier to read) but the writing is rich with history. . A wonderful coffee table book, perfect for Oxford lovers, Anglophiles, architecture appreciators, and armchair historians. . *Though this is available on Kindle, I’d really suggest getting a physical copy to appreciate the artwork and for the font, regarding ease of reading . . . Convince Me, Viscount (A Very Fine Muddle, #6) by Kate Archer US pub date - 4/9/24 . . When a man has five sisters to see married, he relaxes because the sharp gaze is not yet upon him. However, once all five sisters are married and they, their husbands, and the man’s father all conspire to see him married. The future Viscount, Darden, who has no actual desire to get married, takes matters into his own hands after seeing the lovely Lady Marianna - a young woman whose father wishes her to marry a Duke. Not a future Viscount. . I found this a very cute and fun read. While I do have a few more books to read of this series, I didn’t feel lost when reading this even without knowing everything that came in the stories before. . . . A.R.C R.E.V.I.E.W A Daughter of Fire and Flame Book 2 KJ Johnson Releases May 1st Thank you so much #arcreview ot this one! This was action packed, emotion filled, dark and spicy. Our FMC Harlowe goes through some shit in this book but it really shows her strength. Silas the MMC also has a lot of grovelling to do after book 1 and I think he makes up for it. Love how Harlowe makes him work for it though! While I adore Harlowe and Silas, I am so obsessed with Harlowes best friend Emmerson and the sneak peaks we get of her relationship with Cillian. She is an amazing side character and I love how the men notice her power and allow her control. Lastly, the dragons are awesome 👌 😂 #arcreview #bookreview #newbookreview #tbr #bookrecsofinstagram #bookrecs #romantasy #fantasyromance #romancerecs #romancereader #spicybookreader #enemiestolovers #fatedmates #chosenonetrope #spicyromancebooks #dragonbooks

I read this series a while ago but since the last book is being released in paperback in a few weeks (and Filthy Rich Fae being released in June!) I figured I would start sharing my reviews! Filthy Rich Vampire by Geneva Lee Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5 I devoured this book. I was hooked from the very first page. I mean it had me at vampire but I was sold when Thea and Julian met. I am a sucker for paranormal romances and this book did not disappoint. I am enthralled with Thea and Julian’s relationship and I need more of it. The grumpy/sunshine, fake dating trope was perfection. I loved how protective Julian was but Thea didn’t take any crap either. For being a human thrown into the world of vampires, she didn’t let that scare her or turn her away. Julian may make some mistakes throughout the book but his apologies make up for it. While there isn’t full spice in this book, there are still some spicy moments 😏 And that cliffhanger! Thank goodness I had book 2 ready to go on my kindle! #filthyrichvampire #genevaleeauthor #genevaleebooks #julianrousseaux #theamelbourne #julianandthea #paranormalromance #paranormalromancebooks #newbookreview

⭐️ Maybe In Another Life 𝒃𝒚 Taylor Jenkins Reid 𝙈𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨; 💭 Had this one sat on the shelf for a while & decided to just pick it up. I went in completely blind not knowing what it was about. I absolutely loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo so had high expectations. I found it very easy to read, easy to follow as it followed the alternative parallel live of the MC Hannah. I love that concept of what could have happened, what may have been. I find the writing is simple but captivating, expressive and just full of something that makes me want to turn the page. I really liked Gabby & Carl and what they brought to the story. How they supported Hannah whatever choice she made. I enjoyed 90% of the book but did feel the middle platoad slightly & became slightly flat in storyline. But overall I throughly enjoyed it. Not a touch on The Seven Husbands, but i I did enjoy it and the parallel lives. How one little choice can change everything. Each chapters is short which is always a plus in my book! I’ll def go onto read more from TJR as I do enjoy her writing. I’ve a few on the shelf already. 💭 What do you recommend I read next of hers? @tjenkinsreid @simonschusteruk 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨; 📖 At twenty-nine, Hannah has no home, no career and no idea what she wants to do with her life. After years of different cities and jobs, she heads back to Los Angeles for another fresh start, this time with the help of her best friend, Gabby. They celebrate her homecoming with old friends at a local bar and, just after midnight, Gabby asks if Hannah’s ready to go. Moments later, her high school boyfriend, Ethan, offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. Alternating between two parallel universes, radically different paths unfold for Hannah and the people around her. Is anything simply destined to be? Do soulmates truly exist? Hannah believes so. And, in both worlds, she’s found him.

NEW BOOK REVIEW 💙 Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth Jessica, Norah, and Alicia are sisters in every way except by blood, bound together by their experiences living in Wild Meadows, a foster home that appeared dreamlike and beautiful from the outside. Yet within those walls and under the floors, dark secrets lurked, hidden just below the surface and inside repressed memories. When bones are discovered beneath Wild Meadows, the three sisters must find out what happened in that house all those years ago; but when they do, will they be the victims…or the suspects? After reading and reviewing Hepworth’s novel The Soulmate last year (which was fantastic, in my opinion), I was thrilled to receive a copy of this book to review. As usual, this thriller did not disappoint. The plot was compelling, structured dynamically, and Hepworth has a talent for writing imperfect characters who feel relatable and likable despite their flaws. The novel ended with a twisted epilogue, which reframed pieces of the narrative and brought it to a strong conclusion. I would definitely recommend this novel to all readers who enjoy character-driven mysteries with strong female voices, and firmly continue in my opinion that Hepworth is one of the strongest authors currently writing in the thriller genre. 🏷️ #newbookreview #thriller #thrillerbooks #bookreviews #booklovers #bookrec #bookstagram #readersgonnaread #bookcover #bookphoto #mysterybooks #arcreader #bookreviewer #sallyhepworth

I enjoyed being able to see how Tilly and Ronny’s story unfolded - even if I was mad at Ronny a lot. I liked seeing more of Ronny’s personality shine through, especially in the end. Granny is still the best, she has a slight Betty White vibe in my head. ✨ 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 ✨ One Day With You, Shari Low Rated - 5 / 5 ✨ This was an incredible book, truly breathtaking. I haven’t read a book like this before, and it will definitely sit with me for a long time. I couldn’t put it down, I went through every single emotion and cried so many times, both happy and sad tears. Shari’s writing was so captivating, the story, the characters, the depth. It was beautifully heartbreaking. The fact that this book follows four povs throughout a 24 hour period and I connected with every single one of them, is a testament to Shari. I can’t recommend this book enough, have some tissues ready though. ❀ four pov ❀ found family ❀ loss / grief Swipe for a surprise and the full synopsis >>

✨Book Review✨ The Gathering by C.J. Tudor If C.J. Tudor writes it, I will read it! Small town horror, murder mystery, dark secrets…and Vampyrs. Need I say more?!? Did I love it? Absol-freaking-lutely! Let’s first talk about Barb Atkins, doctor of Forensic Vampyr Anthropology and homocide detective called to investigate a murder in the sleepy Alaskan town. Ohhh Babs! I absolutely adored her character. She was real, relatable, and carried such a compelling voice. She stole my heart! And…fingers crossed that we hear more of her story! And…the setting, Deadhurst, Alaska with its cold, chilling backdrop, and its claustrophobic townsfolk who call for a “cull”, an act that would sanction the massacre of the vampyr colony. The Colony prepares for a Gathering, pitting human against vampyr in an all out war to preserve their way of life. This read was a bit darker than C.J. Tudor’s previous books, but she absolutely nailed it, rewriting the common vampire tropes into something modern and absolutely delightful! Did I stay up too late reading? You know I did! And my dark little heart loved every minute of it! Would I recommend? 1000 times yes! If a paranormal, small-town murder mystery with a dark themes of vampire racism, high stakes tension and WTF plot twists, then this is a read you will want to sink your teeth into. Happy reading, friends! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 5/5 #bookreview #newbookreview #bookrecs #fivestarread #vampirebooks #booksta #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #thegathering #cjtudor

From the biggest #nihilist since Nietzsche who claimed to have played soccer with human skulls as a child, this is a priceless piece of aphoristic philosophy for anyone’s collection. Reading Cioran can be damn-near traumatizing but his cynical wit always hits home for me and brightens even the darkest of days like this little gem: Losing love is so rich a philosophical ordeal that it makes a hairdresser into a rival of Socrates” (105). This took quite a while to get through! In this second book in the Emily Wilde series, Emily's determination to help Wendell find a certain faerie door takes them all the way to the Austrian Alps where they have to contend with encounters with all types of creatures. To make things more complicated, it appears that Wendell has been poisoned and grows weaker as time progresses, making it crucial that Emily find the door and secure him a cure. Also accompanying them this time are Emily's nineteen-year-old niece, Ariadne, and Department Head Dr Farris Rose. As with the first book, this one held a certain charm, the characters were quite likeable (the new characters certainly added some colour to the story) and there was an interesting plot. But also just like with the previous book, I found it unnecessarily long-winded, the captivating parts of the story being bogged down by the extremely rambly parts. Though I was curious to see how things played out, I also didn't feel the constant urge to get back to the book each time I put it down. I enjoyed it slightly more than the first book and will probably give the third one a try when it's out. When it comes to similar books, I much preferred A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan. My rating - 3.75⭐️ Thanks for the proof copy @definitelybooks

.Book review. ✨SAKINA✨ ✨Book review/ my thoughts✨ . . Unfortunately we live in a world where we think bullying someone is a cool way of showing one’s strength….cat calling someone is just funny and harmless and nothing else….misbehaving or mistreating someone is your birth right…..pushing someone to the point where they no longer see anywhere safe is again just harmless fun activity……unfortunately . . Unfortunately we no longer care about the human lives no we don’t, no one does anymore……unfortunately the humanity has ceased to exist in our so called modern societies, our very well developed world societies…… . . I couldn’t even think of putting myself in azfar’s place…..for all the sufferings he had….for all the pain he endured in his lifetime….for all the unimaginable monsters and fears he had to face in his life were just heartbreaking….. . . I just wish people stop thinking through their monstrous minds and hearts and start living like human beings again for their own sakes……it’s no fun to put someone in a position where they no longer have the courage, heart and soul to hold onto the rope of hope for dear life…..it’s no fun . . #sakina #newbookpk #newbooks #newbookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviewerpk #bookreviews #bookstagramwrapped #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #books
