USAPL Indiana State Championship Meet recap 1554lb/705kgs total(67lb meet PR) @ 205.6/93.25kg 7.56x BW 447.9 DOTs 7/9 1st place 100kg junior division Squat 3/3 squat 595.25lbs/270kg (61lb meet PR) First time going 3/3 on squats i think the final squat was a struggle but managed to finish it but felt good to hit all attempts. Bench 2/3 314.16lbs/142.5kg (16lb meet PR) First time hitting 300+lbs in a meet but missed my last attempt of 330 due to hitting a sticking point and failing it. Deadlift 2/3 644.85lbs/292.5kg (ties meet PR) I think this is the first time I missed a deadlift in competition due to strength. 661 was the final attempt that missed. Overall felt great to get back into competing this sport and gave me some new goals to focus on to get better. I also hope to eventually fill out 100kgs so I can be better against my competition as-well and being 14lbs lighter than I’m capable of in the 100kg/220lb division and still totaling 67lbs more than my last meet makes me look forward to the next meet I do. #powerlifting #squat #bench #deadlift #workout #usapl #sbd

Incredible Sunday 4/28/24 bench session @gorillapackpowerlifting ...Warmed up raw to 385lbs, then F8 raven 2ply band at 415lbs, 505lbs, ..Moved on in my F8 3 ply shirt , started 625lbs, then 715lbs, next was 805lbs, ,shirt pulled high on arms, couldn't touch.. Next was 835lbs, belted shirt down and again had hard time touching..rethought some things out, went again with 835lbs in video 1 with no belt, shirt moved down closer to elbows, moved awesome, great control, pause at touch and nice smooth press with great lockout. Freaking stocked... decided to go up, same setup, no belt. READINESS, PREPAREDNESS, and POTENTIAL Everyone wants to share/argue about warmups and whether you should use a foam roller or do specific “preventative” exercises. Social media has given the D student from the back of the room a voice and none of us are better for it. Readiness, preparedness, and potential. Readiness is the athlete’s physical AND psychological state at the current time of the session. Preparedness is the understanding of the training day, what we are targeting with it, and how to properly execute it within the given constraints of the system we are training in. Potential is the combination of those 2 things. 99% of people in powerlifting are not athletes, but 100% of them are people. Health needs to come before performance. This means that the physical and psychological state of the person comes before the work necessary for adaptation. You can get strong pushing through and keeping intensity or volume high for a while, but eventually it will catch up to you. There is no special warmup for this, or objective measure we can put on it. The goal of training is to maximize our potential for each session. The warmups, training, and recovery are tools to assist this. Experiences combined with paying attention allow us to figure this all out. FIRST MEET RECAP Squat: 3/3 207.5/456.5 225/495 237.5/522.5 (16.5kg PR) Bench: 3/3 137.5/302.5 147.5/324.5 155/341 (5kg PR) Deadlift: 3/3 200/440 225/495 237.5/522.5 9/9 Total: 630/1386 @ 102.9/226.4 First off, I want to give a huge thank you to @emma.loveslifting because she’s the whole reason why I got into this sport and joined @badgerpowerlifting in the first place. Also she’s a huge reason why @patthiccy is my coach as well so shoutout to Emma. Next, my powerlifting arc started roughly during winter break after not lifting the entire fall semester due to injuring my knee during tryouts. I wasn’t sure how quick I was going to bounce back, but it didn’t seem to be an issue once I started lifting again. Then a little over two months out from my meet I tweaked my back pretty bad, so that kind of messed things up for a little bit too. Luckily we were able to recover fairly quick from that as well and were able to put together a solid showing. @patthiccy has been an amazing coach for the short time that I’ve been working with him, and that was no different on meet day. I felt completely at ease throughout the duration of the hella long meet. He tried to push me on my last attempts, but you can see how that went 😂 Excited for what we’re going to be cooking up now that I have a grasp on this thing a bit. Lastly, I would love to shoutout all my friends and family who have supported me since starting up powerlifting. Beyond thankful for the people I have surrounding me. Y’all know who you are. Unfortunately, that does wrap up my brief time with @badgerpowerlifting as I will be graduating. However, I made a lot of great friends and memories, and I know the team has a great future with a lot of young strong guys and gals on the team. #BeLikeKee

Busy week! Got a LOT done this week! Checked off quite a few things I needed to do. Got my tests results, ready for the next step. Gotta start studying for my other goals. Got a lot going on this week! Exit Interview to complete New Teacher Induction and get my Permanent Credential. Home stretch! Tested out my lifts 3-5 reps. I didn't have spotters so I held back a bit. Just so we are clear, those squats are high. I call myself out, don't you worry. But it's the most I've squatted in a while so I'm happy to have been able to stand back up with it. I did hit bench for 3 x 125 lbs with a spotter. Deadlifts I should have been more conservative and tries 235 lbs but I thought I had 245 for 3. Oh wells. Onward and upward. Looking for some miracle baby PRs. Giving @melsmoves a challenge for sure. Thanks to the #SmithSwoleSquad (See Shirts) for cheering me on at my first @usapowerlifting meet in 5 years! Didn’t even tear a bicep this time! Went 6/9. A 45kg meet total PR, PRs on all 3 comp lifts. 2nd place in the 100kg weight class, 8th out of 47 males overall. Shown is my favorite lift of the day. A just-missed 262.5kg (578lb) deadlift. WEEK 6 — Peak BENCH — Single RPE 9 323 lbs 146.5 kg CONVENTIONAL DEADLIFT — Single RPE 8 444.2 lbs 201.5 kg --------------------------------------------------- Two nice all-time PRs to finish off the block! I'm especially excited about bench. I came into the gym feeling nervous, but for each lift I hit the upper weight range that I had set for myself. I'll be taking it easier as I transition into the next training block this following week. My body is feeling a bit beat up from Friday and Saturday. The top set of deadlift in particular left my SI joint on the right side feeling a bit worse for wear. Took a trip down to Indiana to coach @sadhana.sridhar in the 56kg weight class at the Indiana State Championships. This was only Sadhana’s 2nd meet, and was a stark contrast (in a good way) to the conditions of her first meet. Sadhana had a great meet, going 8/9 with best lifts of: ♦️Squat: 85kg/187lbs ♦️Bench: 52.5kg/115lbs(PR match) ♦️Deadlift: 125kg/275lbs (5kg/11lb PR) ♦️Total: 262.5kg/578lbs (PR match) Very proud of the way Sadhana performed. She missed her third squat, her first ever miss in competition, and was able to come back and go 8/8 on the rest of her attempts. That included having to take a re-lift on bench after some issues with the rack. It’s not common to come back and make a re-lift, so this was a testament to her willpower. She also ended the day with an incredible grind on her 3rd attempt deadlift for a PR. I’m very much looking forward to getting back to work with Sadhana. A couple technical changes here and there and she has a ton of potential waiting to be tapped into. Always an honor and privilege to be in her corner. Great work Sadhana!
