So today, I started Distance, the first book of this series, Beneath the Mask, after reading the fourth book with my wife. Beneath the secrets is next for my queen, and I after I loved detained so much, I decided to read the other three First, I love @authorlunamason as an author. The way she tells a story is amazing, and has you hooked after the first couple of pages, and I love duel pov hearing the story from different perspectives. Keller, a massive, tattooed mafia enforcer and professional boxer, has his own issues but can’t get Sienna out of his mind—or his bed. Luna Mason knew exactly what she was doing with Keller Russo! I don’t blush easily, but the steam in this book had me turning red!!! 🥵🥶 Their chemistry is off the charts, and his protective nature makes him even more irresistible. The plot was engaging, filled with great twists, and built up tension perfectly before those epic spicy scenes. The King Of Chaos has arrived…. Jax and Sofia own my heart 💛 I don’t know how to sum up how good this book was. This is one of those books you read where you know the characters are meant to be. Soul mates in every way. They fight and they fight HARD to earn their happily ever after. Whilst it’s definitely one that walks through some of the tougher topics and it’s utterly soul baring at times, do not worry, it’s still a classic Luna Mason book with some of the best characters you’ll read and the smuttiest of smut that is absolutely 10/10. If I can recommend one thing it’s that you use that playlist at the beginning of the book, ESPECIALLY those Ex Habit clickable links for the spicy times because it just enhances the whole reading experience! Luna did such an incredible job with this book and Jax’s struggles. This is a book that will sit with me for a long long time in the most incredible ways. It can be hard to read at times so please protect your heart first, but it’s worth every minute and I cannot recommend it enough. Frankie and Zara are an unlikely couple that beat out Luca and Rosa to be my favorite couple in the series. A very satisfying end to a story of revenge-our four boys finally have the lives they never knew they could have and that they deserve. The spice is just right and not overpowering. Luna always puts a good amount of attention into her plot and I think the books get better each time. She carried the story really well throughout the four books and I’m excited to jump into the next Beneath series with Jax. I laughed, I cried…I nearly threw my kindle across the room…😂 This book focuses on Frankie’s revenge on Romano and finding love in the green eyes of a fierce detective who also happens to be the daughter of the commissioner. Together they bring the world to their feet in the name of love and found family. Detained is a hell of a finale and a must read! 🫶🏻: “Everyone hides under a mask of some description. He had me laughing almost every single time he opened his mouth. Jax is such a sweet man, battling his demons. But finds his anchor and his place within Sofia. ✨ 𝑩𝑶𝑶𝑲 𝑹𝑬𝑽𝑰𝑬𝑾 ✨ ⭑⭑⭒ I read this after seeing the dedication on TikTok & it made me wanna read it. Unfortunately, in this case, I found that the dedication was better than the actual book 😩 I had high hopes for it especially with it having a decent rating on Goodreads. It was cringe AF, maybe dark mafia romances aren’t for me… but I’ve read & enjoyed similar books before so I dunno… I found it really frustrating to read, really unrealistic, the FMC was irritating and a bit pathetic. I really dislike it when a female author writes the FMC to be weak, she could’ve been so much more independent but she just wasn’t. If you like this subgenre, maybe you’d like this, but if not and you were thinking of reading this, I honestly wouldn’t bother. Fra scontri a turni, dungeon folli, Jojo coi Pokémon (cit.), creature collezionabili prese direttamente da letteratura e mitologia e un’atmosfera fra il metropolitano e il fantasy, Persona 5 contiene tutto quello che amo. E contiene anche elementi che non avrei mai pensato di apprezzare, come il fattore dating sim. Infine, abbiamo anche una colonna sonora pazzesca. Se dovessi stare qui a parlare di tutti i brani dell’OST finirei fra un mese, quindi per il momento diamo la priorità a una traccia che ormai è diventata uno dei simboli del titolo, nonché una delle mie soundtrack preferite in assoluto. "Beneath the Mask" è un base lounge che ruota quasi esclusivamente attorno a due note di pianoforte elettrico che vi rimarranno in testa per sempre. Aggiungete una base ritmica solida, ma appoggiata allo stesso tempo, e chitarre elettriche in clean che creano un tappeto delicato, appena percettibile, ma fondamentale. Mescolate tutto a fuoco lento e otterrete l'apoteosi del chill. L'importanza di questa traccia all'interno della OST di Persona 5 è tale che lo stesso brano vanta ben due versioni: in quella cantata, la meravigliosa voce di Lyn veicola un testo malinconico, quasi cupo, che fa emergere la difficoltà a rapportarsi con la società che ci circonda, a meno che non ci adattiamo alle varie situazioni, a meno che non "indossiamo delle maschere" (uno dei temi principali del gioco); in quella strumentale la parte vocale viene sostituita da una melodia di organo elettrico da brividi, che segue paro paro le note della linea vocale di Lyn. "Beneath the Mask" è la traccia che accompagnerà la maggior parte del vostro tempo in Persona 5. Che sia durante il ritorno a casa dopo una farmata prepotente nel Memento o dopo una giornata piovosa in quel di Tokyo, o ancora mentre ci prendiamo una pausa nell'accogliente Café LeBlanche, questa canzone sarà con voi. 📚Book Review📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 Detained x Luna Mason Book 4 in the Beneath the Mask series I’ll start by saying this book had all the markings for a favorite of mine: masks, bad ass heroine, mafia boss, spicy. The playlist included a lot of my favorite bands and songs which is always a plus. But it felt really disjointed at times. There were times things just jumped really quickly and I wasn’t following the thought process of the MMC or FMC. It had an almost instant love quality to it that I didn’t follow that well. There was a ton of action and I liked how the plot through these books was finished off. You don’t need to read each one but it does help to follow the character development overall. But overall I did really like it and would recommend to a fellow dark romance reader. Grayson and Maddie had their little flirt sessions in book one about Keller & Sienna. I loved how Luna Mason kept the story going and kept the characters somewhat together, even in another book. This books story is all about Grayson and Maddie finally putting their faith in each other and giving it a go. Getting a really good backstory on both of them, makes you understand how important their decisions to choose themselves in the midst of all the craziness, truly was. Their story that unfolds throughout this book was perfect and heartwarming! The love both characters developed for each other was eminent. Of course, what is a good book without a little bit of drama and suspense. My mind was absolutely furious when Frankie pulled the stunt he did. I was literally screaming, “WHAT?! HOW COULD YOU?!” the entire time!! I semi-understand why he did what he did, but it doesn’t make it right. I’m just glad everything worked out and Grayson found his person, and Maddie got her version of a villain/Prince Charming. They got their happily ever after, with a wonderful surprise. I cannot wait to see what the third book has in store for me! Luna Mason writes some phenomenal books! 📖Detained by @authorlunamason review 📖 This is the final book in the Beneath the Mask Series and as such it provides the perfect ending for all of the characters from this series. I loved that during this book not only did we get Zara and Frankie’s beautiful love story, but we also got to see so many glimpses at our past couples. This book picks up basically where Luca’s book ended. You get a brief glimpse at Frankie’s past and then it starts with the night he was arrested at the end of Luca’s book. Luca and Zara shouldn’t work simply based on the fact that she is a cop and he is the mafia boss. But my oh my, these two were made to push each other’s boundaries and make each other better. They come together and they both become stronger and I won’t even talk about the bedroom scenes because they were just explosive fire! This book wasn’t all sunshine and roses. Like all of the others in this series, there was a lot of dark themes. (Def want to check the trigger warnings because it is a major theme in this one.) There was a lot of tough times for more than just Zara and Frankie and from a certain point forward I couldn’t stop crying. Certain words, actions, or names would completely trigger the tears all over again. It was extremely emotional, however I will add that I get emotionally attached to fictional characters so I don’t like when any of them in the series are hurting. If you don’t, you might not cry. 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️😅 The grand finale of an ending was great! Both dealing with the enemies and the epilogue. Overall, I loved this book and I cannot wait to read Jax’s book in the spinoff series that she is currently writing! You know… it’s really hard to explain to your boyfriend why you start crying randomly…in the living room…. watching a freaking COMEDY show. So, there I sat, explaining my mafia, boxing boyfriend just shattered my heart after I almost died, while lying in a hospital bed. You get all the emotions with this one! The relationship portrayed between these characters, Sienna and Keller, is absolutely incredible. I personally feel like you can fully understand and FEEL their stories. From the very first embarrassing moment Sienna FALLS into Kellers lap, I was hooked! Their love, their relationship, their struggles are all throughly depicted in this perfect mafia romance. This has the perfect amount of scary, obsessed, stalker, psychotic ex action to bring out the caring, ruthless, obsessive, protective monster, Keller “the Killer” Russo. He would go to the ends of the earth to protect his Queen. The gut wrenching, tear jerking, heart breaking moment Keller shattered both their worlds, left me in an absolutely breathless, tear filled mess. The ending had me smiling like a kid on Christmas again. This entire book was extremely well written! The plot was absolutely stellar. The spice was * CHEFS KISS *. 10/10 would 100% read this again! Ever since I finished Devoted I was intrigued by Frankies character and so excited to learn more about him. The story jumps straight back into the underground world of NYC where everything is about power and shady deals. Frankie is a real mobster, but a mobster with morals you know…a true anti-hero. But he has so many layers and it was devastating to hear about his past and his struggles. For him it’s always the path of revenge until he crosses paths with a little stalker detective. Zara is an absolute badass, she is this though NYC cop! I love her! She is really obsessed with Frankie and this part was really interesting (normally it’s the other way around lol) Their relationship is a whirlwind of sparks and tension and I love it. They keep each other on their toes and constantly are throwing challenges at each other, it’s really funny to read about some of their interactions. And also the steam wow it’s really hot. All in all this story is a wild ride filled with secrets, drama and a lot of suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. A mafia romance must read!
