Ich habe das Buch in kürzester Zeit durchgelesen. Es war wie ein Sog und die Seiten flogen an mir vorbei. Ich finde der zweite Band kann leicht mit dem ersten mithalten. Vor allem die Storyentwicklung fand ich super. Eine tolle Abwechslung und auch eine positive Überraschung. Millie wird mir immer sympathischer und ich freue mich, wenn der letzte Band im November erscheint (noch so lange 🥲). Die Autorin hat noch so viele andere interessante Bücher rausgebracht, dass ich hoffe, noch viel von ihr in der deutschen Übersetzung lesen zu dürfen. Da es mit Millie noch etwas dauern wird, werde ich mich nun an die Kerri Maniscalco Bücher machen und diese verschlingen. Reading update from Rome (on my way to Florence) ✨ We spent 24 hours in Rome and managed to do a good bit: Vatican tour, walked around the city, dinner, found a good bar by our airbnb, Colosseum tour. Now we’re on our way to Florence for a few days! Here’s a quick reading update: 📖LAST: I finished DARLING GIRLS by Sally Hepworth, and after sitting with the ending for a bit, I’ve decided I hated it (the ending). I rarely use such strong negative language about books, but I really really really didn’t like it. I’ll share more in my review (there will be spoilers in that review just fyi). This is definitely an unpopular opinion, though! I really liked the rest of the book, so I’m very bummed by this. Why, oh why, have I resisted the Kindle for so many years? I'm in love. 😍 I had assumed they were the same thing as smart tablets but they're definitely optimized for reading! The biggest game changer for me is being able to prop it up and comfortably read while I eat or sip my coffee. That used to be the time when I would seek out video entertainment and I've wanted to break that habit for years - but let's be real, it's hard to read physical books when you only have one hand to work with! (You moms out there know what I mean. You also probably understand why I'm using a baby spoon to eat my breakfast, but we don't have to talk about that. 😂) ✨ Do you have a Kindle? What is the biggest advantage, in your opinion, compared to physical copies or even reading on your phone? PS- I highly recommend the Unclaimed Baggage site if you're looking for used Kindles. ⚡Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Re-Read⚡ This third installment to the Harry Potter series never fails to make my heart so full and give me so much joy, ultimately because of Sirius Black’s introduction into the story. With Harry being orphaned and in the guardianship of his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon + Dudley, Sirius’ introduction plus his brief interaction with Harry in this book, just makes me teary-eyed that Harry has a father figure (apart from Mr. Weasley) who’s as close as he can get to his father given that Sirius is James’ best friend. I also loved the Quidditch matches in this book, especially with Gryffindor winning the Cup for the first time in years, as well as Harry’s lessons to conjure a very powerful spell for his age, that he actually managed to drive away lots of Dementors when he needed to the most to save his, Hermione’s and Sirius’ lives. I could enumerate more and more reasons why this is my favorite book in the series, but I’m afraid to give anything else away to those who haven’t read the books. 😅 Anyway, the story will begin to get darker in the Goblet of Fire, but I’m looking forward to the Triwizard Tournament. 😉

Lady of Darkness series by Melissa Roechich Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Writing: ✍️✍️✍️ Plot: 🤯🤯 Spice: 🌶️🌶️ This is a 5 book series, and I was a bit conflicted about this one, but I think I did enjoy it? If you’ve read it, what did you think? Scarlett is Death’s Maiden, a highly trained assassin who at the start of this series is living under the protection of Lord Tyndell, along with his own son and daughter. Scarlett seems to attract everyone so we have Ryker, the love interest, Callan, her (maybe) ex, and Mikale, the villain, who all want her. There are orphans going missing and they’re desperate to stop it. Along the way she finds out more about her mother and who she really is. I loved the premise but Scarlett is considered a feared assassin, yet we see little of that so it was a little hard to believe. She spends the book finding herself, and we do learn throughout what she’s been through and she has had a traumatic life to say the least, and so realistically her trauma response to this is probably to be expected. This world includes fae, vampires, witches, and shifters, which is exciting, and there’s a lot of TOG and ACOTAR vibes, which I love. I went back to the Bridgerton series to read the Colin/Penelope book before season three comes out in a couple weeks! ✨ I was honestly disappointed and this was probably my least favorite of the series. The book did not flow well like the others ✨ Colin in previous books was very different than Colin in this book. He was a huge dick tbh. Looooots of miscommunication crap which is my least favorite trope ever ✨ The spice was non existent compared to the other books. I am so shamelessly addicted to the steaming coffee (god, I don’t even drink coffee), the freshly baked cinnamon rolls, the pies, the cheerful villagers, the kindhearted moose who serves as the anchor for the town, the gay chipmunks who own the Shady Hollow B&B and bake amazing cookies, all of it. (Speaking of which, can we see more of Ben and Geoff? Please? They’re adorable.) I love Shady Hollow so much that I resurrected my neglected Kindle specifically so I could read the two holiday specials, which are only available electronically. I have to preface this by admitting that I have never been an eBook girlie, but Shady Hollow has officially converted me. I actually think I might love the short stories even more than I love the novels, and I love the novels a LOT. And with that, I am renewing my request for at least twenty more books in this series. I can't stop obsessing over my new Kindle 🤭 So happy I got it for myself and so excited I can finally take advantage of all these awesome Kindle deals on Amazon, which is the main reason why I wanted a Kindle so bad. With the Kindle you can easily buy a total of 4-6 books for €20 - which is still cheaper than one physical hardcover for most titles. It's wild! 😲 It makes it so affordable to read lots! Even for new titles! So, to get myself started, I let myself choose 13 titles for my new Kindle library. I came up with kind of a system for myself, after I finish all of these titles, I am allowed to get myself new Kindle books. There's countless amazing Kindle books between 0,99 cents and €6, so I want to try and only let myself buy titles in this price range. If I can do that, I'll allow myself to buy 4 to 6 books each time but only if I have finished the titles I already own. This way I let myself take advantage of the amazing Amazon Kindle deals and take in lots of monthly reading without overspending 😌 I will only allow myself the titles above the €10 range if it's absolutely necessary and if it won't happen often - as in, I reaaaally want to read it but it's a title that will not be discounted, ever. I want to stick to that because there's just too many amazing deals, so to me, it's a waste to just go for the overpriced Kindle books without having a real good reason for it. My number one travel necessity: a well-stocked Kindle. I am off to Berlin to meet with my team next week, then on to Provence for an extended long weekend birthday trip. Air France has VERY strict carry on weight limits so bringing physical books is not an option, but my Kindle solves that problem. I also love that the Paperwhite is waterproof so I can bring it with my to my hotel’s pool and spa 😍 Today I’m halfway through The Graham Effect by @ellekennedy33 while I wait to board my flight. I’ve got the new Emily Henry on deck when I finish this. Any other suggestions for my vacation reads?

✨Book Review✨ Funny Story By Emily Henry 5⭐️ Contemporary Romance 384 pages Swipe —> for the synopsis 📄 Y’all I was so nervous about this one because Happy Place wasn’t my jam. But I had the best time reading Funny Story. I love Emily Henry’s writing and I loved Daphne and Miles. I’ve seen people say that Miles reminded them of Nick Miller and that’s true but I also pictured him a little scruffier. This book had me giggling, getting teary eyed, swooning, and everything in between. I cannot wait for the paperback to come out so I can add it to my collection (bc I absolutely cannot get the hardcover and have them all mismatched). This book is tied with Book Lovers as my favorite Emily Henry book, and I honestly cannot choose between them. Just finished this book 5 minutes ago and OMG!!!!!📗 The craziness of it all had me gasping, lifting my jaw off the ground and crying 😭 Ms. Evelyn Hugo was going through it. I gave this book a 4.75⭐️ and not a 5 only because she could have done without having so many dang husbands, but if you read it you will understand why she did what she did.
