The weight keeps dropping . 235lbs 3 meals a day atm, not enough water and 1 training sessions over the past week! However, during another four nights, we indulged in eating out every day for lunch and having a buffet breakfast each morning. The end result? Just under a 1.5kg gain over the five nights we were away. Now my weight is under what it was before I went away because of the extra tweaks I made. I always like to check before and after a holiday out of curiosity to see what I gained. This didn’t bother me one bit because... I have my habits in place for when I am back, so I never feel like I need to get ‘back on track’ again, and I know the weight will drop off. My habits of the week include training 2-4 times a week, mainly running as I love it, for sessions ranging between 25-60 minutes. This includes interval training, fast-paced runs, and longer runs. I also make sure to hit an average of over 10,000 steps per day. I plan my breakfast and lunches each day, which is simple, and dinner is taken care of by the Mrs! Our meals, such as Spag Bol, lasagna, roast, toad in the hole, curries, jacket potatoes, and pasta, are foods we love and enjoy while still keeping in shape. For lunch, I love chicken, rice, vegetables, and Nandos sauce! This isn’t something everyone must do, as many people wouldn’t enjoy it, but it’s about finding what works for you and what you enjoy. I aim to drink between 2-3 litres of water a day and ensure I get 7-8 hours of sleep per night. These habits are ingrained in me now. When you have foundations set in place that will always bring you back to where you need to be, staying in shape is something that never worries me, and this can be true for anyone! Last night I was thinking. My dad is 98 years old. I am 63. I could have 30-35 more years! This amount of time is the equivalent of the time in my career if not more! 🤔 Holy cow. That puts it into perspective! But what percentage of that time will be independent? Healthy? Mobile? Without disease? We do not know. None of us do. However we do know one thing for sure. We need to help and support our bodies and our minds in these next decades of aging. We need to stop doing the things that accelerate disease. For me … I want to be able to participate in this world! I want to be able to live! And live well. So I have no choice but to exercise, eat well, sleep better, reduce stress, and work on every aspect of my aging - my mind, body, and soul!
