How people record themselves running and still look good is beyond me 🤣🙈 I signed up for a weeks trial of @runna_coach with the goal of a half marathon distance plan and I really like the look of the app and plan so far. It’s nice to have some guidance as a newbie. Tonight’s run was run one on plan (easy 6K in 45-55mins based off of my current average 5K time). It wasn’t easy but I did smash the time. I probably should have gone slower but the little devil 😈 on my shoulder just wouldn’t allow that. I used to run and I used to run a lot faster so I know it’s in me and I know I’m capable of it. I just need to be patient with myself. It’s ok to find it tough. last week🤪 what a week: completed week 4 of my @runna_coach plan, completed some of the OG challenge @courtneyblackapp workouts around my schedule and also squeezed in a run on my lunch break🏙️🤩 meal prepped for my days in the office✅ lil calf stretching on the pavement with my friend after our run, finished this book which was UNREAL (more recommendations pls) & also made a 10/10 healthy chicken, chorizo jalapeño mac n cheese💪🏼 what a fab week !!!

From never running, to picking it up at the age of 25 and it changing my life. It’s much more than a sport to me. Here’s how it changed (and saved) my life! 👇🏻 (and hopefully help you too!) @_therunningmanc 🐝 RUNNING… GAVE ME SPACE 🏃🏻 Working a busy job, with little to no ‘downtime’, I needed a way to switch off and forget about the daily ‘grind’. 4/22-4/28 Week 1 marathon training complete! Just over 16 miles, a pull day with my big strong husband, push day by myself when he left me for the weekend, and a garage leg day with my personal trainer, Flex Immel. Highlights from this week: Holding those 7:30-7:40 paces for 0.6-1.2 miles at a time without feeling like I might have a heart attack Seeing 4.9 miles as my long run and thinking that sounded pretty short Running 4.9 @ 8:45 easy pace & genuinely feeling like I could run at that pace for …a really long time Really good recovery from my lifts. My glutes are truly forever sore but not much else! Food really do be fuel you guys!! Sitting around 2400-2600 cals depending on the day - tracking to make sure I eat ENOUGH, meaning I have minimums and if I’m still hungry…I eat MORE (never less) Something I have gotten into a bad habit of (not a terrible thing just not always ideal), is pushing all of my lifts/runs off to Thursday-Sunday. Which is usually fine, but the next 2 weekends I’ll actually be busy (crazy) so that won’t be working for me SO this weeks goal is to front load my workouts a bit better & im posting this here to hold myself accountable!! Yes girl !! And yes I am praising myself because from literally barely moving to closing all my rings everyday is such a great transformation for me. My family were worried perhaps I’m over doing it but I promise that I’m having rests, I’m stretching my muscles and I’m taking mental health moments. If my body wasn’t able to do it or it felt like I need to rest I will ensure I listen. Physique goals are great… But what if they started being the second priority? What if instead of seeing the way we LOOK as the ultimate goal…we started setting other goals that just so happened to change the way we look (usually for the better)? Hang around in the fitness world for a few minutes & you’ll get the question about your current goals? Building muscle or losing fat? Which again, totally fine and valid goals! But I’ve seen it happen time and time again that eventually…all of that gets a little old… Exhausting, even. Day in and day out pushing yourself to show up and making every decision based on how it will impact the number on the scale and your outward appearance… It’s no wonder so many people struggle with the longevity component of health and fitness! I spent a very long time hyper focused on changing my physique. And truth be told, I loved it. I loved the challenge. I loved working SO hard & seeing my physique literally change before my eyes. I loved the discipline. …until I didn’t. & when I eventually got tired of caring so dang much about what I looked like… I fell into a ‘rut’ that made me feel like a failure. Dragging myself to the gym (and ‘missing’ quite a few workouts…) Bribing myself to eat my dang vegetables Coming up with every excuse in the book as to why I couldn’t hit my step goal. I thought I had fallen out of love with showing up for & taking care of myself. But what I’d actually fallen out of love with, was making my entire life revolve around what I looked like. And doing EVERYTHING for the sole purpose of ‘looking good.’ What’s crazy is…now that I’ve started training FOR something…not only am I… EXCITED to train & prioritize nutrition in order to allow my body the fuel it needs to PERFORM. I’m actually feeling the MOST confident in my body that I arguably EVER have 🤯 My physique is a reflection of the hard work I’m putting in to achieve a big, impossible goal…of the love and support I’m giving it along the way. A reflection of the amazing things my body is currently capable of, and the things it’s working so hard to BECOME capable of. And suddenly…it all just feels so easy again 🤍

There’s been a big shift in the fitness space from “you must train this one specific way” to “what if we all just moved our bodies in different ways that felt good and fun and gave us a whole lot of different benefits” It’s like we all collectively decided that looking good is cool, but having fun and feeling good MIGHT JUST BE even cooler? Idk…but if you couldn’t tell, I’m very much here for it. Maybe you are too? I’ve only been running for about 4 months now so I’m FAR from being an expert in this world…but I wanted to share some of the best tips I have collected over these 4 months that have allowed me to truly fall in love with this new way of challenging myself & moving my body. I do want to also add the more basic tips that might be obvious but also might not be… Get your feet scanned/fitted for shoes. Don’t just buy the cute hokas because they are trendy. If they don’t work for your feet, trust me…you will regret that decision. Freakin warm up & stretch!!! Not a suggestion, a necessity. I put this in the swipe through but I’m gonna say it again because it really matters…stop trying to all out sprint every single run. That is why you hate running and that is also how you’ll get hurt. Stop it 😂 Lastly, believe in yourself! The thing I have loved MOST about my running journey is how every single run is an opportunity to surprise myself with my own capabilities. 😍 my new sketchers performance for this newbie runner/gym girl! Oh my I’m in love. Currently I have slip in sketchers which were mainly meant for day to day not the gym and I’m constantly using them exercising every day and I don’t want to ruin them as they aren’t built for it. These were not a bad price at £65, so affordable, will hopefully last and help with my fitness routine! These will hopefully also get me through my 3k race in June! #throwbackthursday | I can say I’m a fan of either photo, the photo from January 2022 was never meant to be made public but here I am getting out my comfort zone 🥳 I’m shocked when I look back at some of my photos from my height weight, I knew I was large and I knew I wasn’t a fan of myself but now I’m not surprised by my health struggles, fatty liver disease and pancreas atrophy caused my fat. I used to binge eat and hide it so I was unhealthy in mind and body. But progress has been made, no where near done but nearing 16st bracket so it’s good so far ❤️ I’m much fitter than I was and living my best gym life!!! When I’m at home I’m thinking about my next workout! Pertama kali lari bulan Juli 2023 diajakin mak @r3gina_sari ke GOR Sunter aja.. Bareng sama mak @zhaofivi. Dari yang awalnya kebanyakan jalan daripada larinya, lama2 jatuh cinta beneran sama olahraga ini. Dari yang awalnya 2x keliling GOR udah capek, lama2 gak berasa keliling 2 danau Sunter juga hayukk gass.. Kirain gw cuma bakal jogging2 aja seputaran Sunter. Hi 👋🏼 this is me! I’m Xanthe. I’ve tried C25K a few times and only been successful during lockdown and I achieved 5km in under 30mins 🎉 but the world quickly went back to normal, time was limited and it didn’t stick. 6-7 weeks ago I decided to start running again. But this time just doing my own thing. I told myself I’d run for as long as I could and when I felt like stopping I’d push a little further. But also, I wouldn’t be ashamed to walk as much as I needed to. To start with, I could barely run 0.5km without feeling like I was going to pass out. Then I hit 3km. 3km turned into 5km which very recently turned into 10km and I couldn’t be prouder of me. I’m a slow runner but I’m ok with that, I’m enjoying the views along the way. 4/15-4/21 It’s funny to me how many lessons and blessings this thing that I spent so many years adamantly avoiding has given to me. It’s reminded me that the only way to fail, is to stop moving forward. It’s allowed me to slow down (ironically). It’s shown me a new appreciation of my body. And a new desire to take the best CARE of it, rather than solely pursue the best LOOK of it. It’s reaffirmed to me the value of doing things WELL vs doing things FAST. Remember when I was supposed to run a half marathon this past weekend lol … same … After recovering from my injury and getting back into things, there was a part of me that felt like I should just push to run that half anyways. Technically, I could have done it. And technically, at the start of all of this…simply finishing & checking it off the bucket list was the only goal. But running has reminded me that I’d rather take my time and do things WELL, than rush the process just to ‘get it done’ and say that I did it…regardless of the repercussions (poor performance, risking injury, no longevity - for many reasons). After those 4 weeks off, I set my sights on a new goal. To beat my previous 10k race time. The time I had set the day before getting hurt. The one I had been SO proud of! 10k in 50:17, 8:06/mi pace New goal: 10k under 50 min, 8:00/mi pace (or faster) I planned to sign up for an actual race but they were at least an hour away and tbh I had so much going on this week/weekend, it was stressing me out thinking about making the time to get out there. So I ran a 10k on my own, which ngl made me super nervous because iykyk running in a RACE environment vs running (and pushing yourself) on your own…not the same 😂 BUT !!!  New 10k best: 49:39, 8:00/mi average pace So dang proud of myself (how cool is that) Also lifted some weights this week - primary goal with this is maintenance & all of the benefits having muscle tissue brings to the table - could talk more about this but I’ll save it for later 😂 Anyways, time for a new goal! I’m thinking we full send and train for a marathon? Idk but…imma do it 😬

I don't know the exact reason of the data from the workout, but, there are probable factors: 1. I do usually "cruising" fairly well on a road running, or 2. ✨In My Masters Running Era✨ Half marathon #13 is officially in the books now that my swag has arrived! I had to get a little creative with this one. My husband is the most supportive partner on the planet, but in the spring he coaches tennis, so I had to pick a race with a virtual option in order to make it work. But it worked in my favor because it allowed me to run my 13th half marathon on the 13th of April. We are big fans of the number 13 over here - even before Taylor Swift made it cool. So I wanted to make my 13th half marathon special, and I love that it was the first race of my 40s! I’m beyond grateful for all the miles my body allows me to run, even if I am considered a masters runner now. Here’s to a new age group and a new decade! 🎉

Bolton Park Run!!! So, my fourth Park Run at Leverhulme Park and with that "Cruelle De Vill (Hill)". I had been warned prior to running here about "the hill" and to walk it, don't run it. Aside from that it was a lovely run, felt more like a trial run, with the routes going into the woods and with such beautiful scenery too. I didn't get the time that I wanted, compared to Fletcher Moss, though I do need to factor in the time of going up that hill twice. Illnesses, Aches/Pains, Unexpected medical issues, Family, Job, Travel… Simply put, we have a lot going on. It is important to remember that run training is not occurring in a vacuum. What to do when things don’t go as planned in training? Here are some truths to recognize: There are a lot of variables in our lives, and running is just 1 piece of the puzzle. No training cycle is perfect. Setbacks are normal. If you are experiencing a “less than perfect” training cycle, I'm here today to provide some encouragement. In a world where we constantly receive messages of go go go, where we are hurrying from what feels like one obligation to the next, it can be hard to give ourselves the rest we need.
