How hard is it to get abs? For most people, getting six-pack lean is just plain hard, which is something I know from first-hand experience. At the ripe old age of 31, I became determined to lose some weight and get fit. I’d never been an athlete. I’d never had visible abs. Fast forward to today. I am a lean and muscular 43 year old, and I maintain visible abs year round. No part of it was easy. There’s no gimmick here. No overnight success or 30-day ab nonsense. I struggled. Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym, and I had to completely change my diet. But it most definitely was worth it. It’s not just the aesthetics. I feel amazing, have more energy, feel younger, recover faster and most likely will live longer. Why People Think Red Meat Is Bad For You

Have you ever heard that red meat will clog your arteries, increase inflammation, rot in your colon, increase your risk of cancer, or cause some other awful health problem?

This is the mainstream narrative around red meat, but it couldn't be further from the truth!

So where does this notation come from?

It comes primarily from epidemiology studies. These are studies in which large populations are observed and correlations can be made.

However it should be noted that these studies don't control for variables so there are too many possible causes for any correlations made to be able to make causative conclusions from them. (This will make more sense shortly)

Unfortunately people do it anyways, like in the case of "red meat being bad for you."

In America, epidemiology studies show a correlation between lower meat intake and better health, but this is due to the healthy user bias. 

Which is when health conscious people decrease their meat intake because they are told it's healthy. 

These same health conscious people are more likely to exercise, not smoke, get enough sleep, and engage in other healthy behaviors that lead to better health.

However the unhealthy people who eat vegetable oil covered fast food, are more likely to smoke, and are less likely to engage in healthy behaviors end up representing the "meat eating population."

As you can see there are way too many factors going on here to say that meat is the reason people are unhealthy. 

Interestingly enough, epidemiology studies in Asia report the opposite. In Asia meat is seen as a very healthy food, therefore the health conscious population there eats more meat. 

These studies show a correlation between a high meat intake and better health. Dr. Paul Saladino talks a lot about this in his book The Carnivore Code, which I highly recommend!

When you think about it, our ancestors have been eating meat heavy diets for 10s of 1,000s of years and they didn't get all the chronic health problems we have today like heart disease, cancer, autoimmune diseases, etc.

Why Is There Such A Push To Be Vegan? The vegan diet has been used to prey on peoples’ desire to be and to be seen as compassionate and caring. After all “if you truly love animals, care about the environment, and care about your health, you’ll go vegan,” or at least that’s what many will have you believe. Unfortunately each one of these claims is based on lies. You can love animals and eat them too, just like plants! You can even stand against factory farms and animal cruelty and still eat meat. In fact most vegan diets kill more animals than meat heavy diets because of the great amount of land that is cleared to grow crops. In this process many ecosystems are destroyed and bugs and small animals are killed. Meat makes up only a few percent of greenhouse gas emissions and regenerative farms actually decrease green house gasses, replenish the soil, treat animals well, and provide the most nutrient dense meat! And a vegan diet is very low in bioavailable nutrients and completely void of some essential nutrients. It’s also very difficult on the digestion and linked with many health problems. Not a single culture has ever been vegan and survived in human history, because animal products are essential to our overall health, as noted by Dr. Weston Price in his book, “Nutrition And Physical Degeneration.” So if a vegan diet doesn’t help animals, the planet, or your health, why is it pushed? For starters I think many vegans still believe their diet helps animals, the planet, and their health. And I think that’s why they encourage others to try it. I think a lot of them are very kind hearted and have a good intent. However that is on a much smaller scale and doesn’t account for the more plant-based USDA eating recommendations, Harvards new close to vegan eating recommendations, Joe Biden’s recommendation to cut red meat by 90%, and many other prominent government organizations, mainstream news, and mainstream science organizations pushing a vegan (or near vegan) diet. So why is this? I don’t know for certain, but I believe it’s for the same reasons corrupt powerful people do anything, for more power and money. ****CONTINUED IN COMMENTS****

Ancestral health has been increasingly fascinating me. When I look around at today’s society, I see many people suffering with physical health issues, poor mental health, stress and lack of drive/motivation. This is complete digression from the evolutionary process our ancestors were challenged with and so naturally, most people no longer optimise these SIMPLE steps for healthy living and longevity in our daily lives. The key lesson here is that movement of any form, whether it be slow walking, heavy lifting or running, will improve your quality of life- don’t over complicate your health journey. My approach will always be to coach clients with a basic, primal and easy to follow process to reach their health,fitness and personal goals.
