Dunkeld and Birnam walks are full of wee trails leading through some of the best areas of the Perthshire forest. The woods are alive with the sounds of different species of bird, Like this little Tree Creeper for example. I’ve always wanted to photograph one of these wee birds since I seen them at the caravan. I’m glad I did because he/she even took a moment to pause for their picture 🥳. Remember to always respect wildlife and their habitat when photographing them, Always maintain a safe distance so never to frighten or spook them. Some facts about the Tree Creeper: 1. The treecreeper has many regional names: the Somerset name, tree mouse, is perhaps most appropriate, as this bird does creep up trees in a mouse-like manner. 2. Treecreepers always go up trees, never down. When they get to the top they fly to the bottom of the next tree. 3. They are almost entirely insectivorous, with spiders and other small insects forming the bulk of their diet. In winter they make take some small seeds. 4. Comrie Croft, Perthshire 🏴 • What a find! We planned to bring the van for the weekend, but @gloriaestevan wasn't behaving. Ended up staying in a room in the steading & so glad we did! The accommodation is described as a "hostel," but the rooms are private, with en suite. Lounge areas and the large (fully equipped) kitchen are shared, and I loved all the cosy little nooks and crannies, perfect to curl up with a book. Or a bottle of prosecco and a few rounds of Uno! If you'd rather be outdoors, you can also camp or book a stay in a wooden kata, surrounded by nature 🔥🐦⬛ There's a wee eco shop on site, as well as the tea garden, which serves breakfast rolls, salads & much more. We watched the sunset from the decking out front on our first night - dreamy! Our Estate and Farm staff have a large collection of highly trained and very well controlled dogs available for a wide range of work related tasks. At this time of year we sadly regularly experience a number of attacks on our livestock by visitors pet dogs. We are very keen to support responsible access across our landholding. We would ask all dog owners to refrain from going into fields with livestock and to ensure that their pet dogs are very much under control. At this time of year we also lose a lot of young wading birds, whom nest low down on the ground, and are disturbed as people let their dogs off their leads on open hillside or upland and moorland terrain.
