You don't need "motivation" to hit your weight loss goals. Here's why (and what you need instead) ⬇️ Raise your hand 🖐️ if you've said this about your weight loss journey: "I know exactly what I should be doing. But I'm not doing it...and I can't figure out WHY". You *know* that to lose weight, you need to make healthy food choices. You know that moving your body everyday is essential. But for the love of all things, you can't figure out why it is so damn hard to do the things that will actually help you lose the weight. Here's what it's not: ❌ Lack of willpower ❌ Lack of motivation or determination ❌ Lack of discipline Great Ashley, so if it's not any of that, WHY can't I consistently eat healthy food and get my workouts done? 💥 You're not doing what you need to because your brain is wired to avoid anything that feels hard, takes too much effort, or feels uncertain. Huh. Interesting, right? Here's an example. When you're running late for dinner, part of your brain says "oh, we should eat something healthy tonight if I want to keep going after my weight loss goals!" The louder part of your brain says "Ugh. I'm tired, and running late. Better stop at Chick-Fil-A to grab dinner for the family so I can feed everyone quickly". Brain perceives figuring out a dinner on the fly (when you're already running late) as something that's hard, difficult, and uncertain. SO, Brain sees Chick-Fil-A is a better, faster, "safer" choice (even if it doesn't support your weight loss goals). ✅ The SOLUTION is to start by gaining awareness of how your brain might be working against you. Then, you can start working *with• your brain, so the goal-achieving part speaks louder than the don't-do-it-because-it's-too-hard part of your brain. I'm curious -- does this resonate with you? I’ve coached at least a dozen Hashimoto’s clients over the years, but Jess is extra special. From the moment we first spoke in November of 2022 I knew it was a fit. How did I know? She was not looking for a quick fix. She was committed to doing the true “root cause” work. As a result she has 🔥 lost over 50lbs 🔥reduced her thyroid antibodies (TPO from 552 to 335), and a reduced her thyroid medication by 50mcg! Here’s how we did it- 1️⃣ Managed her mental, emotional and physical stress: I will argue that chronic stress is the most potent threat to Hashimoto’s because it’s the most potent threat to your immune system 2️⃣ Balanced her blood sugar: Jess initially had high glucose and fasting insulin. Both high and low blood sugar is inflammatory and contributes to immune imbalances. 3️⃣ Got her gut healthy: The majority of the immune system is housed in the gut, which means that the gut presents lots of opportunities to improve Hashimoto’s. Jess had leaky gut, dysbiosis and h pylori. 4️⃣ Balanced her hormones: Healthy immune function depends on appropriate levels of hormones and hormone activity. Jess initially was estrogen dominant from years of constipation. If Jess’s story has inspired you drop a 💪🏻 in the comments! #fitover40 #hashimotos #hashimotosweightloss #weightloss #transformationtuesday #functionalhealthcoach #functionalnutritioncoach #healthcoach #rootcausehealing #loseweight #autoimmune #autoimmunedisease #hypothyroidism #hypothyroidismweightloss #inspiration #healthandwellness #guthealth #stressmanagement #immunesystem #balanceddiet #weightlosstransformation

In case you were wondering what “progress” looks like. It’s not some linear measurement that only goes straight down. It ebbs and flows and rises and falls. You have to be prepared for this so WHEN it happens, because it will, you don’t go running back to that fad diet that brought you here in the first place. Stay consistent and the results will come. Non scale victories: Better sleep Higher energy Feel less “puffy” Some clothing starting to feel different We have to keep track of both scale and non scale, photos and measurements in order to accurately say we are progressing. You aren’t in a plateau until it’s been 4-6 weeks with absolutely zero change, and that’s even pushing it. Trust your body. Trust the process. Don’t eat like 💩 If you’d like to be a part of the AMP Community where we show you EXACTLY how to get the scale moving once and for all… It’s free. It’s fun. And you get a huge support team behind you. Dm or comment “progress” and I’ll get you set up TODAY! #weightloss #progress #loseweight #sustainableweightloss #fatlossover40 #hashimotos #lupus #hypothyroidismweightloss #balancedeating #nodiet #ampcoachingmethod

🤍 Early detection of hypothyroidism can be beneficial as it allows you to explore dietary and lifestyle changes that may help manage the condition without the need for medication. However, it’s important to note that while these lifestyle modifications can be supportive, they may not be sufficient for everyone, especially those with more severe cases of hypothyroidism. In such cases, medication may be necessary to supplement thyroid hormone levels. Fortunately though, in many cases that require medication, the right lifestyle changes can potentially reduce the reliance on medication or improve the effectiveness of treatment.

I'm about to show you the BEST KEPT SECRET in the fitness community. @getsupernatural fitness. Yep, that's right. VIRTUAL REALITY WORKOUTS. Now hold on, don't scroll past just yet. Hear me out! If you've followed me for the past few years, you'll know I NEVER take it easy when I workout. There was a time I did 5ks every single day for NINE MONTHS (in the Florida heat/humidity too!) because if I ran a mile and a half there, I HAD to run a mile and a half back! The gym just didn't give me enough decipline to keep going when I could stop whenever I wanted to. But this past week, I came across Supernatural fitness app on our MetaQuest 3. I signed up, and logged in and I am NEVER LOOKING BACK! In less than 30 mins I was POURING in sweat! Honestly, I could walk/run a mile or 2 without breaking a sweat. It's always been odd that I never sweat much. But OH MY GOD. This app KICKS MY ASS! My family and coworkers have heard about how sore I am all week 😅😵 This is the most REAL workout class I've ever taken in my life. If you have a Meta Quest, I STRONGLY suggest downloading this app! It's worth every second spent on making yourself better and having a blast doing it! Also, I have FOUR guest passes that I would love to share with my friends, family and followers! Comment "PASS PLEASE 🎟" for your ticket to joining me in this fantastic part of the weight loss and fitness journey! You MUST HAVE A METAQUEST TO RECEIVE A GUEST PASS! Looking forward to working out with ya'll soon! 💪 #supernaturalworkout #supernaturalweightloss #metaquest3 #metaverse #metaquest #hypothyroidism #hypothyroidismweightloss #fitnessmotivation #fitnessjourney #fitness #virtualreality #virtualworkout #foryou #getsupernatural

This is your very last chance to claim bonus 1 - 30 minute 1:1 Test Interpretation Session! Don't miss out! You've got 2 hours to sign up to the 8 Week Hashimoto's & Hypothyroid Weight Loss Programme to secure your bonus👇

4/28/2024, 10:00:12 PM

Just a reminder that Bonus 1 for the 8 Week Hashimoto's & Hypothyroid Weight Loss Programme expires today at midnight! Bonus 1 - 1:1 30 minute Test Interpretation Session. Last year's group participants loved this session! Here are some of the results that it helped them achieve: - recognising sub-optimal thyroid levels and what they should be instead flagging additional testing that was required and a letter from me for their doctor if needed (ie for FT3, TPO antibodies, B12, Vitamin D, etc) - which supplements they needed based on results not guessing, accompanied by actual recommendations with specific doses to correct deficiencies and insufficiencies, plus advice on when to retest where appropriate - for those who were sub-optimal they found the weight came off much easier once levels were rectified and if that took a letter from me to help get them what they needed then I was more than happy to oblige! If you want to take advantage of this bonus then make sure you sign up now👇 Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

I'll bet nobody's told you this before... There are SEVEN types of hypothyroidism. But most doctors don't test to figure out which kind you have. WHY? Because their treatment is the same...take Synthroid (levothyroxine). Just like most menstrual disorders are treated the same...with the pill. It's the same old, same old...take this pill for that, and that pill for the other thing. For more about the 7 types of hypothyroidism, check out my blog, AlexandraMacKillop.com and search "hypothyroidism" In order to balance your hormones you need to first: 1) Ditch the pill 2) Diagnose the root cause 3) Build a healthy foundation 4) Use natural strategies to bring things back into balance 📌SAVE THIS POST for next time you need a refill on your levo 🚺 WONDERING IF YOU HAVE A HORMONE IMBALANCE? COMMENT YES if you are in need of a plan you can follow! Don’t make the same mistakes I did! When I first began my fat loss journey with hashimoto's disease, I felt like I was spinning my wheels. Despite what I thought were all the right things, progress felt like it would never happen. 😔 It wasn't until I tried a few game-changing tips from my coach that everything clicked…and results started to show. I had spent years restricting food and completely cutting out carbs along with hour-long cardio sessions. No matter what, the scale refused to budge, and my confidence decreased. But little did I know, success was just a few simple changes away. With the right guidance and a shift in what I was doing, I finally found myself on the path to results. ✨You deserve to be in control of the outcome. I can show you how.✨ If you're tired of spinning your wheels and ready to finally unlock your full potential, let me show you the way. Together, we'll determine what YOU need to feel like you again.

A post for my girlies who are going through the highs and lows of body transformation... Things change, priorities change, bodies change. Stop comparing yourself to where you used to be 5, 10, 30 years ago.... Health and fitness is a life-long journey of personal growth and self-discovery. The theif of enjoying that process is being so overly consumed with where you're NOT. "I used to wear size 0 jeans" "I used to weigh 115 pounds" "I was in my best shape before I had kids" That's great, but that was then.. and this is now. Maybe you're a new mom and frustrated with your postpartum body... Maybe you competed and your body rebounded afterward... Maybe you feel like you "let yourself go".... Maybe you're a college kid who gained a few pounds in the first semester... SO WHAT! I've been almost every single one of these too. What helped me is understanding that each stage/body/phase serves a purpose in the big picture. You might not see it now.. but maybe it's just a learning phase... understanding what not to do, how to navigate new priorities/responsibilities, how to improve, what works for you/what doesn't. So rather than ruminating on where you once were, feeling bad for yourself, & letting that put a halt to any forward moving progress.. OWN where you are right now. Figure out what lessons you need to learn. And just keep going... because if you do, you're guaranteed to get there eventually. But if you don't... you never will. . . . . . . . . #fatlossforwomen #bodytransformation #progressphotos #onlinenutrition #nutritionmatters #fitnessjourney #hypothyroidismweightloss #hypothyroidweightloss #sustainablelifestyle #healthyliving

Rule #2 of 8 for a balanced Metabolism for weight loss + improved hormonal balance 👇🏼 A break of 5 hours should be taken between three meals to allow Insulin levels to lower, allowing for fat to be burned easily and for support of many hormones that Insulin influences. When Insulin levels remain consistently high, based on types of food you’re eating and frequency of meals, it can block the production of many hormones that protect your body from inflammation and aging. It’s important to implement meals that support stable blood sugar if applying this rule. If you eat simple carbohydrates and insufficient protein, fiber and healthy fats your blood sugar levels may dip too low if you don’t eat for that long, triggering a stress response which could actually turn on fat storage. The Metabolic Balance Program combines results of your blood chemistry (based on your blood work) with the chemistry of foods to help support your own unique metabolism. The result is an all natural food plan to follow to support weight-loss, hormonal balance, better digestion and so much more. Hormones… hypothyroid… menopause… metabolism… etc… Too many of us are too quick to jump to conclusions when what we’re doing isn’t working, that it must be because something else is wrong. “What if it’s my hormones?” “My metabolism is too slow…” “I can’t lose anything since menopause…” YES, all of these things CAN make weight loss harder. But, 9 times out of 10, you probably just need one of two (or both) of these things: Consistency and Patience. Have you been 80, 85, even 90% consistent with your calories, protein, steps, and workouts? When I say, “ask yourself if you’re doing everything right” I don’t mean perfection and being 100% right all the time. Neither myself nor my clients are perfect. We’re consistent!

If not, let’s start there… If yes, has it been at least 4-6 weeks, with that same consistency all throughout? If not, don’t change a thing, stop looking for something that may or may not even be an issue. If yes, then MAYBE start exploring other things. But, with 99% of clients that I have coached, if we dial in consistency, taking ownership of what we’re actually doing every day, and give it time, we see great progress! It’s important to remember, even if you are hypothyroid, have PCOS, are in menopause, etc… you can still lose weight. You just have to be a little more consistent than others who do not. What are your thoughts? I want you to take a moment and imagine yourself on a journey towards lasting fat loss, where each step is supported by four powerful pillars: nutrition, exercise, mindset, and accountability. I was once told that I just "don't want it enough," and that is why I was not seeing results. Oh, trust me, I wanted to feel better in my body. I felt like a prisoner inside this body that was gaining weight despite my efforts to eat less and work out more. Once I switched the way I saw food, exercise, and my own body, things started to change. My energy was back, my hair stopped falling out, and now I needed to buy new SMALLER jeans! I will be your trusted guide, equipped with the knowledge, tools, and unwavering support needed for you to conquer every challenge along the way! 💥 Together, we'll rewrite your story, empowering you to embrace new habits, boost your confidence, and achieve your goals once and for all. more weight loss!) - Preserves lean muscle mass, which is absolutely important as we get older As for how much to eat everyday? Your goal is 0.8g - 1g of protein per pound of ideal body weight. So, if you weigh 190 lbs, but you want to weigh 160 lbs, aim for 128g - 160g of protein everyday. Sounds like a lot, right? It's pretty easy to get it all in when you space it out throughout the day. Here's what I do to get in 160g of protein everyday: - 30g: Morning protein coffee (Prime protein + collagen peptides) - 33g: Breakfast bowl with chicken and veggies - 26g: Salad with chicken or salmon - 20g: Mid-afternoon protein shake - 33g: Baked salmon or tacos with veggies for dinner - 17g: Vegan (chocolate!) Shakeology for dessert It's important to get most of your protein from real food sources (not bars, bites, etc.). All of the recipes in the Supper Club help you hit your protein goals with lean, healthy, filling, delicious sources! 🍽️ Comment SUPPER to learn more about these recipes! When you're trying to lose weight, and you read "increase your protein", what does that mean, why does it matter, and how can you get enough everyday? Protein is essential (especially for those of us over 40...and on our #journeyto50!) - Keeps you fuller for longer (yes, better than carbs!) - Can help manage cravings, and keep you from needing a snack all the time (insert => more weight loss!) - Preserves lean muscle mass, which is absolutely important as we get older As for how much to eat everyday? Four tips to start effectively losing weight with a thyroid condition 👇🏼 #1 Implement Blood Sugar balancing meals – this means that you have a protein, healthy fat and source of fiber included with each meal. Try something like roasted chicken (protein) with a side salad or steamed veggies (fiber) plus olive oil (healthy fat). #2 If you’ve implemented blood sugar stabilizing meals try to give your body a break between meals to digest and enter the fat burning phase. It takes time for your Insulin levels to come down after a meal. You need lower Insulin levels to access fat burning mode and if you’re eating constantly you may not be using fat as fuel. #3 Detox your personal care and beauty products. This can feel overwhelming especially if you are new to it but start to slowly chose non-toxic brands that don’t wreck havoc on your hormones. Toxins are parked in fat cells so the more toxins you have the higher chance you have of storing fat (as a protective mechanism). #4 Drink WATER 💦 This sounds super simple (and it is) but hydration is absolutely crucial for weight loss and overall health. Aim for 35ml per kg of body weight at minimum daily and space this out throughout the day (versus chugging it down). If you are sweating, exercising or consuming caffeine you’ll need to consume even more water! If you’re looking for personalized weight loss support join my waitlist for the exciting Metabolic Balance program, where even those who normally struggle to lose weight have great results. Keep swiping if you want to get your thyroid health on track 🔥 Your thyroid produces mostly T4, which is inactive. It requires other tissues, like your gut to convert it to its active hormone T3, which is responsible for your energy, metabolism, body heat and much more. About 20% of thyroid hormone conversion takes place in the gut and it is the job of your healthy gut flora to make sure you get the amount of T3 you need. This is why one of the most effective things for someone who is struggling with hypothyroid and/or hypothyroid symptoms is to improve their gut health. 👏 So, how do you make your gut happy? Here are some tips: ✅ Say goodbye to inflammatory foods like gluten and sugar. They’re not doing you any favors. 🚫🍩 ✅ Chill out! Stress can mess with your gut, so find ways to relax. 😌 ✅ Eat foods with probiotics, like yogurt or kefir. They’re like tiny helpers for your gut! 🦠🥦 ✅ Fight inflammation with natural remedies like aloe juice, ginger, and curcumin. Your gut will thank you! 🌱 ✅ Get enough sleep! Sleep plays a vital role in healthy immune system function and gut health due to the effects of the gut-brain connection ✅ Exercise regularly! Regular exercise can also help maintain a healthy gut as it helps to support a normal response to inflammation and increases blood flow to the digestive system ✅ Consider getting a stool test to check your gut health. It’s like a checkup for your insides! 🩺 Taking care of your gut is key to feeling your best and keeping your thyroid happy. Let’s get that gut in gear! Things you won’t find in my thyroid-friendly home 👇🏼 #1 Synthetic candles scented with fragrance – I chose 100% Soy candles scented with essential oils or Beeswax candles #2 Air Fresheners like Febreze or conventional Bathroom Sprays – I love using an Essential Oil Diffuser when I need a little scent in the home and make my own Bathroom refresher using some Peppermint Essential Oil + Water + Dark Glass Spray bottle (combines amazing with Orange too 😍) #3 Dry-cleaned clothes – dry cleaning is a highly toxic and chemical process and when your clothes come back into the home they are full of chemicals. If you have to dry clean something leave it outside (or in garage) for a bit to air out before bringing into the home. Follow @annsirenkonutrition for more tips on Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s 🥰

🧐 Ever wondered why your thyroid might not be at its best, even with “normal” blood tests? It’s all about those sneaky minerals! Without the right mineral levels, your thyroid could be struggling. Let’s break it down: ✅Iron: Helps convert T4 to 13 ✅Magnesium: Plays a role in making TSH ✅Zinc: Stimulates TRH, which makes TSH ✅Selenium: Balances iodine and aids T4 to T3 conversion ✅Copper: Supports thyroid hormone formation ✅lodine: Essential for thyroid hormone structure ✅Boron: Assists in converting T4 to T3 ✅Potassium: Helps cells utilize thyroid hormones These minerals are ✨key players✨ in your thyroid health! Inside of Rejuvenating, our extensive lab work shows us if thyroid hormones can effectively reach your cells. Because the thyroid controls energy, we need these hormones to communicate properly with every cell. By balancing minerals, we give those little energy makers a chance to work their magic and revive your cells! Have you checked your minerals lately? Need guidance? Our new 12 week coaching program where you can work directly 1:1 with ME for a crazy affordable price is now open for 8 more ladies. Interested in info? When testing for thyroid dysfunction it’s important to test more than TSH. TSH only shows one tiny part of the picture of what’s going on in the thyroid and you can have “normal” levels of TSH but have other thyroid lab markers be off. In addition, when working with patients who have suspected thyroid imbalances, I may also order additional lab testing that looks at: ◀︎Cortisol ◀︎Sex hormones ◀︎Gut ◀︎ Micronutrients Make sure to save this post to ask for these thyroid tests! PS want to know what other lab tests I recommend and how to order your own? Did you know? Your thyroid health can play a significant role in pregnancy and fertility! 👶🤰 Your thyroid gland produces hormones that regulate metabolism, energy levels, and more. When it's not functioning properly, it can impact fertility and increase the risk of complications during pregnancy. Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) can both affect fertility. They may disrupt ovulation, alter menstrual cycles, and even lead to miscarriages or difficulties in carrying a pregnancy to term. . . . #health #doctor #causes #paldi #ahmedabad #bestdoctor #symptoms #cure #besttreatment #obesity #professionaldoctors #advancetechnology #cure #thyroidtreatment #Hypothyroidism #Hypothyroidismtreatment #hypothyroidismweightloss #thyroid

When your life's work appears in front of you, because of a terribly dark season...here's what happens ⬇️ I'm a huge believer in taking the first step. Whether it's a step towards getting healthier, losing weight, or living your best life, you have to start somewhere. ⚠️ But that first step is usually the hardest one. I recently had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with my friend and host of Sober Living Stories Podcast, @jessicastipanovic, to share how I transformed years of living with an addicted husband, into a thriving wellness business. As I turn another year older, on my #journeyto50, it's all about being raw and vulnerable. In that, I share that leaving my marriage was a big first step. Sharing my story of survival in this podcast is another (slightly scary) step, that I hope inspires and educates you. (From the podcast) "I came to realize that there was a bigger plan for me. I went through a journey that forced me to heal myself, and now I get to help others. THIS is my life's work." 💚 Comment PODCAST below, and I'll send you a link to hear why I'm so passionate about helping others through anti-inflammatory nutrition and health, and get encouragement that you can truly have the life you want, just by taking that first step! #corporatemom #careerwomen #midlifemom #midlifewomen #weightlossover40 #workingmomlife #workingmoms #glutenfree #glutenfreedairyfree #antiinflammatorydiet #hashimotoswarrior #hashimotosweightloss #hypothyroidism #hypothyroidismweightloss #ashleymalik

Which one did you believe was true? I'm constantly surprised when I hear people think that surgery or medications are the only options when it comes to thyroid healing, when in all honesty nothing could be further from the truth. Dietary and lifestyle changes can have profound effects on health, and when done correctly, can even improve efficacy of medications prescribed by your specialist. Relying on pharmaceuticals alone I think is a limiting approach, which is why I work with my clients on creating lifelong habits that can help reduce symptom flare ups and keep antibody levels under control. The aim of the game is to get you feeling your best- and who wouldn't want that? If you want to know more about how diet and lifestyle could help you in your health journey then make sure to like this post and follow me for more food-first content! #thyroiddiet #thyroidhealth #thyroidproblems #hashimotosdisease #gravesdisease #thyroidnutrition

🌱 4 foods your thyroid will love you for 🥦 Living with Hashimoto's can feel like a constant balancing act, but the foods we choose can make a world of difference in managing symptoms and supporting overall well-being. Whole Grains 🌾: Whole grains such as quinoa, brown rice, and oats are rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals essential for thyroid health. Research suggests that incorporating whole grains into your diet may help regulate blood sugar levels, support digestion, and promote heart health—all crucial factors for Hashimoto's sufferers. Fresh Veggies 🥕: Leafy greens like spinach and kale are particularly beneficial for Hashimoto's sufferers due to their high vitamin A and magnesium content, which play roles in thyroid function and immune support. Additionally, cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and Brussels sprouts contain compounds that may help support detoxification pathways in the body, potentially reducing inflammation associated with autoimmune conditions. Nuts and Seeds 🥜: Nuts and seeds provide a rich source of healthy fats, protein, and essential micronutrients. Walnuts, in particular, are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which have anti-inflammatory properties and may help reduce inflammation associated with autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto's. Additionally, nuts and seeds are excellent sources of selenium and zinc—two minerals that play crucial roles in thyroid hormone production and immune function. Fresh Whole Fruits 🍎: Opt for whole fruits over processed juices to maximize fiber intake and minimize blood sugar spikes. Berries, in particular, are packed with antioxidants like vitamin C and polyphenols, which may help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation associated with autoimmune conditions. Plus, their low glycemic index makes them a smart choice for managing blood sugar levels. Remember, food is medicine, and every bite brings you one step closer to thriving with Hashimoto's. 💪 #HashimotosDiet #ThyroidHealth #AutoimmuneNutrition #onlinenutritionist #clinicalnutritionist #thyroidnutrition

3 breakfast ideas to help regulate your hormones, curb cravings and help you feel full longer 👇🏼 #1 Steel cut oats with a tablespoon of almond butter (or another nut butter), high-quality protein powder mixed in, topped with a tablespoon of ground flax seed and slices of apple or berries #2 Egg omelette with spinach, onion and red pepper topped with a few slices of avocado (can drizzle some olive oil on top too for extra blood sugar stability support) #3 Smoothie with a scoop of your favorite high-quality protein powder, berries, ½ avocado, spinach, ½ banana and a nut based milk What you eat in the morning will have a HUGE impact on how you’ll feel the rest of the day and how much you’ll eat and crave that day. Your breakfast sets the foundation for your blood sugar – it’ll either destabilize it or stabilize it. Destabilized blood sugar will lead to more cravings, hunger, irritability and that “hangry” feeling. p.s. If you’re having coffee first thing in the morning make sure to only have it AFTER you’ve eaten your breakfast. Otherwise your blood sugar will be a rollercoaster the rest of the day. Today I turned 36 years old! This marks my 10-year fitness anniversary. I started my fitness journey in 2014, the year I also started working on my PhD. Yes I was over the weight at the time. I was stressed out like the typical graduate student, (I also had just finished my master’s). However, I was also experiencing crazy symptoms. My hair was falling out, I was having trouble remembering things, terrible brain fog, swallowing felt like I was chocking on something constantly, I was extremely fatigued as well. When I tried losing weight, nothing seemed to work. I finally went to an endocrinologist and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. That was the moment I knew what I was fighting so I had something to atleast explain the symptoms. It also marked the start of me fighting to get my life back together. I’ll spare a long story but this was no easy feat. I was on thyroid meds for 4 years. I managed to loose 72 pounds living a ketogenic lifestyle. I no longer take thyroid meds. My thyroid levels have also been normal ever since. I did gain a lot weight in my pregnancy and many of you are here because you saw that journey as well. I have no idea if the pregnancy weight gain was related to my thyroid. All I know is I was up 65lbs post birth and started all over again at 33 years old. Here we are now at 36 years old. I am thankful I have a no quit attitude, because one thing I will never do is give up on myself! So happy 36th birthday to me! Looking forward to many more healthy years ahead. 🥰 #happybirthday #hypothyroidismweightloss #hypothyriodism #fitnessmotivation

Stop trying to hack your health if you want to lose weight faster! Because diet plans, supplements, and information are readily available these days, it's easy to think you can "figure it out on your own". You're led to believe that you can DIY your gut, hormone, and overall health and wellbeing. ❌ When you do it the DIY way you waste time, money, and it takes much longer to actually lose the weight (if you ever do!) After 10 years of trying to DIY my own health (yup, I did it too!), then recognizing the need to work with a team of professionals, there is one thing I can say for sure if you really want to lose weight over 40: ✅ Start by eating healthier, more nutrient-dense, less inflammatory food. No matter what any testing reveals, or who you decide to work with, you will always be told to adopt an anti-inflammatory diet. It is THE cornerstone to weight loss, healing, and all things health-related. It's time to stop wasting time and get down to business with your nutrition. Want an anti-inflammatory meal plan that gets you results FAST (and is the same one I used to lose 55 lbs?!) 💚 Comment FORK and I"ll send it right over to you! . . . #corporatemom #midlifemom #midlifewomen #weightlossover40 #workingmomlife #workingmoms #glutenfree #glutenfreedairyfree #glutenfreerecipe #antiinflammatorydiet #whatsfordinnertonight #hashimotos #hashimotoswarrior #hashimotosweightloss #hypothyroidism #hypothyroidismweightloss #thyroidweightloss #ashleymalik

Your girl loves a good affirmation 🤷‍♀️⁣ ⁣ But telling folks who are waking up each day not recognizing themselves in the mirror to just 'love themselves' and 'appreciate their bodies' is not only unhelpful-⁣ it's dismissive to their human experience.⁣ ⁣ In all honesty, I don't know anyone comfortable in their skin 24/7.⁣ ⁣ It's time we normalize the discomfort without making our bodies a 'fixer upper' project.⁣ ⁣ Nourish your body, respect your body, regardless of how it feels in the moment 🤘

I love this trend where people share an insider look at who they REALLY are... So, here's a chance to get to know me better! 7 honest things about about me: 1️⃣ I was a single, working mom for over 14 years, after leaving an abusive marriage. I know deep in my soul how difficult it is to balance career, kids, finances, chores, cooking, while trying to carve out time for yourself. (More on this story coming soon...) 2️⃣ I grew up having family dinner at 6 pm (it was non-negotiable 😉). I still do that now, even though work/sports sometimes gets in the way. 3️⃣ I was on The Price Is Right (a looong time ago, with Bob Barker!) Yes, I spun the big wheel! It proved to me that you can manifest anything your heart desires...especially when you put in the work to make it happen! 4️⃣ I was a concert-level pianist for many years when I was younger. (I sang opera, too!) Music came so naturally to me back then! I'm teaching myself to play at that level again. Just like with weight loss, I can feel the pain of "having it once", but struggling to get it back again. 5️⃣ I used to be secretly addicted to candy and sugar. Back then I thought it was a failing of mine...now I know it was my completely messed up gut health. But, I spent a lot of years feeling deep shame. 6️⃣ I know I was put on this planet to guide others...starting with being a mom. I'm driven to support others (especially my children!) to thrive, grow, and become deeply proud of themselves. 7️⃣ Starting a new life/family at 44 years old was scary. I didn't want to feel judged for getting married again, or for having another baby. 5 years later (yup, I'm 49...on my #journeyto50), I couldn't be more thankful for this new chapter. It's given me tremendous courage to change my life, and stop playing small! I'd love to know, do we have anything in common? You don't *actually* want to lose weight before summer...here's what you REALLY want: 😎 Shorts that fit comfortably and make you feel confident 😎 Fun days at the pool with your family, without feeling awkward in your swimsuit 😎 Energy for a morning hike with friends 😎 Feeling proud at the BBQ when someone compliments your glow 😎 Knowing that you're prioritizing YOUR health (go you!) 🚀 Weight loss may be the end goal, but most of us are chasing a FEELING: confidence, dedication, pride! 🚀 So, here are 5 easy ways to kick-start weight loss before summer: 1️⃣ Prioritize protein. Build every plate around it. Eggs, chicken sausage, lean cuts of meat (chicken, turkey, pork), white fish, seafood. Focus on whole food! 2️⃣ Anti-Inflammatory Diet. Lose weight simply by changing the types of food you eat! An anti-inflammatory diet will reduce inflammation (goodbye bloating and feeling puffy!), and can help you lose weight quickly. Use anti-inflammatory meal plans that are family-friendly. 3️⃣ Sleep. When you don't get enough sleep, your body produces more cortisol...which causes weight gain and makes it hard to lose weight. Stop staying up late, and get up at the same time everyday (yup, even on the weekends). Your body will thank you! 4️⃣ Workouts that WORK. If you're still doing cardio and/or HIIT workouts, it's time to stop! I have some at-home workouts that can be done in less than 20 min/day, that don't include jumping, and will actually kick-start weight loss. 5️⃣ Calendar alignment. Prioritize working out (at least 3 times/week), and stick to that appointment with yourself (like it's a meeting with your CEO!) Remember to schedule in rest time, it's essential for weight loss! You deserve to feel confident, dedicated, and proud when the summer months roll around. But that work starts TODAY, so let's get started, ok? I have tools and resources to make it easy and successful. Comment START and I'll build a plan that works for your life and goals! . . #corporatemom #weightlossover40 #workingmomlife #workingmoms #antiinflammatorydiet #whatsfordinnertonight #hashimotos #hashimotosweightloss #hypothyroidism #hypothyroidismweightloss #ashleymalik

One of the most common reasons women struggle with weight loss with Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s is insulin resistance. When your cells are not able to uptake glucose as efficiently it ends up being stored as fat. A low functioning thyroid has been associated with poor blood sugar stability which can create a vicious cycle of cravings, hunger, trying to eat less yet gaining more weight. The solution is to re-sensitize your cells to glucose and lower your Insulin levels! How? Mainly through balanced meals combining macros in correct proportions for your unique body and implementing a few lifestyle changes to support the process. Here’s one tip I want you to start implementing now 👇🏼 Have a protein rich breakfast that is lower in carbohydrates first thing in the morning (within 30-60 mins of waking up). Try a couple of eggs with half an avocado, some greens and berries. Small changes add up to big results! Grab a FREE copy of my Thyroid Reset Guide + Meal Plan at the link in my bio @annsirenkonutrition for more tips on Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s 💕

I’ve been dealing with this for the past three months. I was diagnosed with a non diabetic retinal occlusion in my right eye. Basically my right eye is like looking through a cracked iPhone screen. It’s weird and upsetting to be sure. After many appointments and a couple specialists, they don’t know why I have a clot behind my eye and no risk factors. Could be a crazy symptom of thyroid disease or Hashimotos. Those can raise your risk but it’s not common. The diagnosis was to wait and hope it has absorbed over the last 12 weeks. Has anyone else had eye symptoms? #thyroideyedisease

Is it Peri-Menopause or something else? Could it be Hypo (Low Thyroid) or even both? Symptoms of Hypo-thyroid are very common during the peri- into menopause. Common symptoms shared by both: - Mood issues - depression or anxiety - Sleep issues - Irregular periods or heavy bleeding - Hot flashes interspersed with cold intolerance - Low energy - Brain fog - can’t think clearly - Difficulty concentrating - Weight gain Autoimmune Thyroiditis or Hashimoto’s is very common in peri-menopause years. In fact It has become more prevalent, yet many women remain undiagnosed for years. Mostly because they are not given access to running the right labs - functional labs. Prospective clients that present with overlapping symptoms during our functional health assessment and consultation are always asked: “Have you have your Thyroid checked lately?” Most respond with a “Yes, my doctor did a thyroid examination, blood work showed my thyroid is normal.” However, most have 1 marker tested only: TSH Sometimes Free T4 (if they are lucky), but the test result is based on the conventional reference range (reflective of a sicker population with probable low thyroid) and not the functional range which is what we strive towards being at the most optimal health. This is why they still feel dreadful - have nagging symptoms, despite their doctor reassuring them that all is normal. This was exactly what happened to my client Cheryl. The red flag was she had “literally gained 45 lbs overnight” and her hair was falling out. And she was told her thyroid was normal. Since we started working together, she is finally discovering the missing pieces to her health stuggles, bit by bit. It comes down to working with a functional health practitioner that can help you get to the bottom of you health and weight issues, so that you can... Regain your energy, reclaim your joy, feel confident in your clothes again, and thrive into your 50s and beyond. If you’ve been told by your doc your thyroid is “normal” based off one lab, but you still have the ☝️ symptoms, and you want better answers, drop the word LABS in the comments.
