. Knee Surgery. Update. . 3 Tage Post OP. . Der Meniskus innen rechts wurde fast vollständig entfernt. Er konnte nicht mehr refixiert werden weil er “völlig zerfetzt” war. . Bin nach der OP aufgewacht und da ich keine Schiene dran hatte, dachte ich mir schon dass die Refixierung gescheitert war. . Zusätzlich wurde ein Knorpelschaden 3. Grades festgestellt. . Wie es weitergeht ist offen. Jetzt erstmal heilen, mich beim Orthopäden erneut vorstellen Ende Mai und dann mal sehen. . Wettkampfmäßiges Gewichtheben unter den Umständen ist zu vermeiden wenn ich nicht in 10 Jahren Arthrose haben möchte. . Vielleicht Kauf ich mir doch wieder ein Pferd stattdessen. 🐎 . Get FIT. Week # 4 Two weeks post op tomorrow and I am feeling pretty good. Started back to light workouts with no more than 15 pound dumbbells. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like they are doing much but it’s better than doing nothing. Still taking an hour long walk each day and dialing in the nutrition. Weight has maintained through surgery and recovery which I am super pleased about. You see a few years ago, I had surgery and really got off track l! So maintaining is winning this time! Heading out of town this weekend on a camping trip and have decided not to track my food! Yes, it’s ok to not track your food. This is about making it a lifestyle. My goal is to get lots of movement in, lots of water and be mindful of my choices. And you can bet I will be having some s’mores. So half way through the challenge and pretty please with where I am at. Turning 40 this year bumped me up to a new age group for the #crossfitopen2024 ! This year they advanced the top 25% in each category to the #quarterfinals and I slid right on in there! While I did decide not to continue (due to not being ready or properly trained for that level of competition.. not to mention not having fully adequate resources at home for every workout) I am extremely proud of making it this far! I competed in the OPEN for fun and for a tee shirt. 🤪 I never expected anything more. It’s amazing to me that the majority of my training is the @streetparking daily workout, and I qualified in this OPEN! It’s just proof that what I’m doing is working! Let’s not forget that a consistent and proper diet and taking the right supplements only enhance performance. I’m no rock star, but I’m a 40 year old Mom of 3 just working out at home and trying to stay consistent. Proof that if I can do it ANYONE can do it. 21 days ago I started my challenge with my beauty @mariabetaniads in which she helped me again to organize myself with my diet and strengthen myself since I have 10 weeks postpartum, with a lot of discipline and the help and guidance of María I was able to complete what was my goal for these 21 days and I don’t just speak physical But emotionally since bringing a child into the world and feeling strong and connecting with oneself can be a challenge. ✨ Unofficial placement of 310th!!! Missed the semifinal cutoff by 110 spots. My goal was to place higher than last year in the open and in quarterfinals and I accomplished that. My goal for next year, to jump those spots and make the semifinals!!! ⭐️ Client Spotlight ⭐️ 5am workouts are the norm for this client! Not because he likes getting up early but more because there really is no other time that works. Full time work and a family keep him busy. With 3 beautiful children, and did I mention 2 of them are under 3, he has to prioritize time for his health. He and his wife both work full time but make sure to schedule time so they can each make it to the gym. It takes team work to make your health a priority. When he came to me about a year ago he wanted to lose body fat and build muscle. I shared with him that it is a long and very difficult process for someone who has been working out consistently for a long period of time. He had to really dial in his nutrition. I think it is evident by his progress pictures that he has done just that. The scale has only fluctuated about 4lbs over the course of this past year. Which means by his pictures he has lost body fat and built muscle. He is not done yet and I expect him to continue to make great gains. ☄️A 𝐩𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 in my #diastasisrecti journey☄️⁣ ⁣ ▪️The second picture is from when I organized a workshop for @crossfit8mile and we flew in @brianna.battles when I was 6 months postpartum with my 2nd son. We had talked for so long and finally got to meet each other in person!! (And Chance was in her belly🤰🏻🥰). ⁣This was in 2017!⁣ ⁣ ▪️Anyway, she felt my stomach with just about the best poker face ever and told me to find more help & opinions. ⁣ ⁣ ▪️I had learned a lot online, and I had a PT; but it was time for more. ⁣ ⁣ ▫️It was frustrating because I just wanted someone to take care of me.⁣ ▫️ I wanted someone that knew what to do with my #diastasis. ⁣ ▫️I worried that I would be stuck doing the same workout modifications forever. ⁣ ⁣ ◽️But I didn’t want to do more work trying to figure this out. ⁣ ◽️I didn’t want to spend time finding someone new. ⁣ ◽️I was overwhelmed.⁣ ◽️ It didn’t seem fair. ⁣ ⁣ 🔻But I knew I needed to do it. ⁣ ⁣ 🔺In fact, I almost flew to Chicago for a one day trip until I found @ancoeurwellness. She spoke my language and was able to help me so very much. ⁣ ⁣ ▪️ Then 8 months later I brought my diastasis to California to see Brianna again (first picture). ⁣ ⁣ ➡️ Once I was able to feel strong again, I got in a healthy place to be able to help others; and I became one of the first @pregnant.postpartum.athlete coaches in 2018. I became who I needed. Advocating for myself all those years was EXHAUSTING. ⁣ ⁣ ➡️ Misguidance can lead to unintentional injury and/or performance impairments postpartum, or just confusion and emotional trauma. This may not look like much to some, but to me, this moment was monumental. This is my first strict handstand push up since having little Miss Ellie June, and getting them back has been anything but fast or easy. Today, I not only got one strict handstand push up, but surprised myself by making it into the second set of 10! (Which means I actually got to rope climb- yay!) Truth be told I almost didn’t even put on my sleeve for this workout…. So glad I didn’t listen to my doubts…. Strict handstand push ups were always a weak movement of mine in CrossFit- even at my fittest points. They are the one movement I PRAY never comes up in competition and when this Quarterfinal workout posted, I knew it was going to be tough. But I told myself to just get out there, put a smile on, and hope for the best. So often we fill our minds with anxiety and the narrative of “what if I fail?!” But today I tried to remember the wise words of my friend Sarah Howard @liftingflutist “what if you succeed?” Luckily I had my rock, @ccolvindo there to keep me grounded and my good friends, training partners, and fellow coaches @nicolematerawelch and @shea_butta_fitzpatrick helping me shift my mindset to believe in myself a little more. Hard work is important, but having an uplifting, inspiring community around you is paramount to any sort of success. I am so thankful to have found that here in Vegas at @crossfitrawappeal . Sometimes in life you just have to chip away- one slow rep at a time. Nothing worth having ever comes easy, but boy does it feel good when you make some forward progress. The richest sources of these omega 3 fatty acids are marine source, such as salmon and other cold water fish and fish oil supplementation. Maintaining healthy levels of fatty acids with foods is important, but many of the foods richest in omega-3 fats aren’t particularly kid-friendly. If you don’t eat a lot of fatty fish or seafood or struggle getting this into your kids, you could add chia seeds or flax seed powder to smoothies, add a few servings of walnuts or consider supplementation. Dosing for omega 3 intake for kids ranges from 500mg/day - 1,000mg/day depending on age. Always talk with your doctor before adding in supplementation. Mamas, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, your doctor likely has recommended you take a DHA/EPA supplement..during pregnancy, omega-3 requirements increase over normal to support fetal growth (particularly of the brain and eyes), and DHA/EPA are the most biologically active omega 3s. The recommendation for pregnant women for adequate intake of omega 3s rich in DHA and EPA is two 6-ounce servings of low mercury fish and seafood per week. Consuming more may pose a risk of mercury toxicity to baby (though the absolute risk is small) But if you are like I was… eating seafood may not be palatable during pregnancy! So I lean into supplementation with fish oil. Fish oil supplements can also be a great way to rescue the risk fo mercury exposure while still getting the adequate consumption of omega 3s. Specifically, I take Full Mega. It is formulated with efficacious amounts of EPA and DHA, 900mg and 600mg respectively. With no fishy aftertaste! Hands down one of my favorites for supporting health through the lifespan! *Some studies found that Omega 3 supplements can be helpful in place of medication in treatment for patients with mild forms of ADHD whom side effects of stimulant medication outweigh benefits. Those who suffer severe ADHD requiring medications, the addition of Omega 3 supplementation can be helpful in reducing the amount medication needed.
