How Hank lost 50 pounds with a crazy busy schedule My friend Hank runs his own real estate business. He is also a father of two little kids and a husband. So he definitely has his hands full! 6️⃣Steps to get Shredded before Summer 2024 💪🏽⬇️ So first, let me explain that by doing one of these things, you will definitely start seeing a bit of progress but the real magic happens when you put everything together… 1️⃣Cut out alcohol completely. I know some of y’all don’t want to hear it, but the truth is that alcohol is going to hinder your progress & health. Alcohol has been classified as a Group 1 carcinogen which also includes asbestos, radiation, and tobacco. 2️⃣Track what you eat. In engineering, there is a common phrase that says “what gets measured gets managed”. Tracking keeps you focused and helps you understand how many calories you’re eating. You might be overeating or under eating which will completely offset all that hard work you’re putting into the gym and this is why most people don’t see any results even after training for months. 3️⃣Walk 5k-10k steps per day. Simply walking an extra 5k-10k steps per day can help you lose between .5-1lb per week! 4️⃣Weight train 3-5x per week. Weight training is the most effective way to put on new muscle & the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn at a resting state. 5️⃣ Eat more whole foods, less packaged foods. This is a no brainer but these foods naturally contain more soluble fiber which will help you feel fuller for longer so you are less likely to over eat, compared to packaged foods which may be high in calories and lacking nutrients. 6️⃣Hire a coach. Having an expert that can offer you guidance & keep you accountable is well worth the investment. They can help you achieve your goals in a fraction of the time with far less effort. Research has proven that your genetics can’t prevent you from losing weight, getting healthy, or building muscle. ⠀⠀ Can great genetics help you get there faster? Of course, I’m not totally ignorant. ⠀⠀ But they will NOT do what most people make the excuse of — “I’m overweight and can’t lose any because I have bad genetics.” ⠀⠀ Now, if you want to be an elite level athlete or pro bodybuilder — you better be built for it, because genetics absolutely matter. ⠀⠀ But that’s also why there’s only a small amount of those individuals in the entire world. ⠀⠀ And I’m guessing that’s not you, if you’re reading this… which means that your genetics are NOT the reason why you’re not as lean and fit as you want to be. ⠀⠀ The real reason you’re not where you want to be or can’t seem to stay where you want to be once you get there, is because of your habits and your environment. ⠀⠀ And by no means am I saying working out, getting in shape, eating healthy, or anything involved with losing weight or building muscle is easy. ⠀⠀ I work damn hard at it, every week. ⠀⠀ And I’d be lying if I said there weren’t days where I just didn’t feel like doing it. ⠀⠀ But the pro’s outweigh the con’s by a longshot and I know that I’ll never regret doing the work after it’s done, so I just buck up and get it done. ⠀⠀ Which is what you need to do. ⠀⠀ Because more often than not, it only feels that way in the very beginning. ⠀⠀ i.e. repetition makes things easier. ⠀⠀ But the point here is simple… ⠀⠀ Your genetics are 100% out of your control — but that’s ok!! ⭐️ MUSHROOM & BACON PASTA ⭐️ I reaaaaaallllyyyy enjoyed this 😍 packed full of veggies and tasted unreallllll! Just fancied something a bit healthier after our binge yesterday but couldn’t be asked to cook a roast 😂 only 722 calories for the whole meal! Ingredients (serves 3) - ⭐️ 300g pasta ⭐️ 9 bacon medallions ⭐️ 2 red onions ⭐️ 3 large mushrooms ⭐️ 3 garlic cloves ⭐️ 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard ⭐️ 150ml single cream ⭐️ 150ml vegetable stock ⭐️ Salt, pepper, mixed herbs ⭐️ 50g Parmesan ⭐️ Fresh parsley ⭐️ Tenderstem broccoli Method - ⭐️ Start by dicing your onions small and your mushrooms into chunks then crush the garlic cloves and cut the bacon into small chunks. ⭐️ Pop the bacon into the oven on 190 for 20 minutes or until it reaches your desired crunch (we like ours super crispy). Put your brocolli into the steamer to steam for 20 minutes too. ⭐️ Pop your pasta on to boil. ⭐️ Then start frying the onions and garlic until soft & add your salt, pepper and mixed herbs then combine. Then add the Dijon mustard and combine. ⭐️ Add the vegetable stock and cream to the onions and simmer until thickened. Loosen with pasta water if it’s too thick. ⭐️ Drain the pasta and pop into the onions/sauce mix and combine with the Parmesan. ⭐️ Serve with fresh parsley and a side of your choice (we went with our fave tenderstem) 😂 This is a nice, quick, easy one to make so maybe save for the days your can’t quite be bothered (like me today haha). For the first time since 2021 I can say, The Glow Up Mastermind is BACK and open for enrollment TOMORROW. Let me tell you a quick story and be really honest with you about this before I tell you exactly what this is. I ran two rounds of the Mastermind back in 2021, and girls got amazing results if I do say so myself (swipe and see). I loved it, ya’ll loved it, it was great. Then in 2022 I wanted to launch another round, and I was going through it mentally- kinda like now. 4-5 days into the launch I canceled it. hardly ever wear shorts to the gym, but i did a HIIT workout today and knew i would be sweatinnnn. and i actually really enjoyed it?? Follow @nutrition.tips.well for daily nutrition and calories tips A carbohydrate by basic definition is; ‘a biomolecule consisting of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.’ Though, rather unfortunately over the last 30 years or so carbohydrates have been met with revulsion, fear and persecution. Mainly by those who erroneously sympathize with the notion consumption of carbs will impact body fat more so than any other macronutrient source. ⁣ ⁣ The immediate problem with such a dubious claim is the mirky differentiation of carbohydrates as an entity within edible food. Pizza, pasta, chips, bread and pastry all fall inside the umbrella of “Don’t eat it because its got carbs and you’ll get fat.” Yet if we examine the exact ingredients in such food we can immediately assert that carbohydrates are not the only caloric variable present. ⁣ ⁣ Because the examples displayed on the right of this graphic represent foods containing calories from carbs, protein and more pertinently, fat which houses caloric density. ⁣ ⁣ Put simply, fat contains 9 calories per gram, compared to 4 calories per gram within protein and carbs respectively. Therefore, the presence of protein and fat (via additional ingredients) within food will increase its overall caloric worth. Calorie balance (of any macronutrient ratio) determines body composition. Not carbs. ⁣ ⁣ The futility of the ‘carbs make you fat’ argument is compelled by the fact that fruit and vegetables are mostly made up of carbohydrates. Here’s the thing;  For those of you who are new here, hi I’m Nic and I am now a fitness and wellness coach, spin and Pilates instructor!  During my sophomore year of college, I decided to change my life by changing my habits which helped me lose 50 lbs and become the best version of myself.  Some people call me lucky for the life I built for myself today, others call me hard-working.  The thing about me is that nothing was given to me, I had to work for it.  Throughout my weight loss journey, I learned the unhealthy and healthy ways to lose weight.  Trust me I’ve done it all, intermittent fasting, eating less than 1200 calories, finding a balance, and eating my favorite foods/ cravings daily!  One thing I want you to take away is that this is a journey.  You will have your ups and downs. If you go too low on calories, your body turns catabolic, which means it is going to eat your hard earned muscle for fuel. 😭 Ladies, did you know your body needs around 1300 cal to run your organs? (Men around 1850) So when you go below that your body says, “Welp! We’re not getting enough food to keep her body running, so she doesn’t need her hair, nah… and she doesn’t need energy either” And you’re gonna feel like a bag of ass, lol. As it eats your muscle for fuel. Ugh. Therefore, your metabolism has slowed down and adjusted to the low calories, now you can’t lose anymore weight & you’re stuck.
